Hello from 3 Green Welcome to 3 Green! What an interesting year we’ve

had!

Despite it all, 3 Green have been working hard all year,

and are excited to get back into learning for Term 4! This

term we will be looking at informative texts, as well as

completing some surveying and graphing in Maths!

We’ve also been developing our technology skills, having

used QR codes in Maths, as well as the dash bots to

explore 2D shapes, angles and length! 3 Green have also

been working on their literacy skills with Daily Writing,

Genre Writing and Guided Reading Groups. We’ve had a

fantastic year of learning, and with this term left, we are

going to make it our best yet!

Bushfire Safety Information Pelaw Main Public School is identified as a Category 2

school, which means we are in a bushfire prone area.

This means that the school has been assessed as being in

an area of land that can support a bushfire or is likely to

be subject to bush fire attack. We certainly learnt this

during the last bushfire season and our school was

incredibly fortunate to escape without damage.

The school is aware of its responsibility to

implement prevention strategies prior to, and

during the bush fire season. As part of this, our plan

is reviewed and updated as necessary each year

and communicated with our families.

Fire danger ratings are released on the NSW Rural

Fire Service website each day at 4.30pm, for the

following day. As part of our plan, this rating is

checked each day and plans made accordingly.

We will be sending home a copy of our revised plan

next week, including a form to ensure your

emergency contact information is updated. Please

ensure you read this and return the information

ASAP.

Throughout the bush fire season the school will

liaise with Emergency Service Agencies during the

time of the year when the risk of bush fire is at its

highest, and gather information on fire activity and

monitor bush fire conditions through the media

and online resources. Please listen to the local radio

stations for bush fire or weather warnings for

advice and notification of any possible school

closure, and check the Fires Near Me app and Rural

Fire Service website.

If students are already at school and bush fire

conditions dramatically change, based on current

conditions on any given day, an informed decision

will be made as to whether the primary action for

the school will be to take shelter and remain on

school premises or evacuate to an off-site location.

If evacuation to an off-site location is decided, Kurri

Kurri Public School (Lang St, Kurri Kurri) is our off-site

evacuation site. Buses will be organised to transport

students to KKPS.

Please ensure that you have downloaded the

Skoolbag app to your smart phone, and have liked

the school’s Facebook page, as well as updating your

contact details and email addresses, in case of an

emergency.

The NSW Rural Fire Service website provides a

range of useful information at:

www.rfs.nsw.gov.au. There is also the Fires Near Me

Mobile App which can be found in iTunes or Google

Play. Further information can also be found at NSW

Department of Education’s School Safety website:

http://www.dec.nsw.gov.au/about-us/news-at-det/

bushfire-safety.

Term 4 Guidelines Much of the COVID restrictions are still in place,

with little change from last term. All activities

permitted at school are safe and appropriate in a

living with COVID-19 environment. Non-essential

adults are still not permitted on school grounds or

at school events.

Thank you for your continued efforts at drop off and

pick up time and remember to please be mindful

about social distancing around the school gates.

Our Kindergarten Orientation program, Tadpoles, is

now able to happen from Week 3. All parents

involved in this have been notified and we look

forward to welcoming our tadpoles in the coming

weeks!

We will be in contact with our incoming Year 3

students from Stanford Merthyr soon to arrange for

some transition activities and visits.

Year 6 Graduation can still take place, with some

restrictions we are planning around. More

information will be sent home to Year 6 parents

shortly, as soon as we have been able to finalise

plans around these changes.

Fixed Equipment Shade Shelter Work started in the holidays, with the posts in ready

to go. The shade sail will be installed one weekend

in the next few weeks. We can’t wait to see this

new, long awaited improvement in our playground.

Tell Them From Me Please remember to complete your Tell Them From

Me survey by the end of term. We use this

information to help us evaluate our practices and

improve identified areas. This year we are asking

families to send in a screenshot of the completed

survey page to go into the draw for a $100 Coles Gift

Card! So far we have only had 16 families complete

the survey. We would love to get many more!

If you need any assistance with this, please contact

either your class teacher or Mrs Brathwaite.

We will draw the winner of this gift card at next

Friday’s assembly!

P&C Meeting Our P&C meetings are scheduled to occur on the

third Tuesday of the month.

The next P&C meeting is scheduled for next

Tuesday, 20th October at 6pm. Due to the current

restrictions, this meeting will need to be held via

Zoom. If you wish to attend this meeting, please

send an email to the school email below, so the link

to the Zoom meeting can be emailed to you before

the meeting.

Staff Development Day Variation Our staff all participated in online CPR training

through Royal Life Saving Australia at the end of last

Term. It certainly was a different way to do it, but

each teacher was assessed by a trained facilitator

via Zoom. This Tuesday afternoon, staff also

attended a professional learning session after

school for a few hours, to complete a self-

assessment of the School Excellence Framework to

assist us in planning for the new school planning

cycle. These sessions will be in lieu of the Staff

Development Day scheduled for Friday, 18th

December.
