In order to grow in love as a church we need to be intentional and actively work at buildi

My thought on the Cambodian Christian Protestant Community (CCPC)Dear my brothers and sisters, fellow workers in Christ. I warmly greet you the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, my Savior. I am Ezra Hyun Kim, KoreAmerican missionary at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I was born and raised Seoul, Korea and went to USA on the year of 1980 for biblical and theologistudy to serve the Lord. Since then I had lived and serve in USA as minister aprofessor until I came to Cambodia 5 years ago as a full time missionaryCambodia from Gospel Presbyterian Church in USA, where Korean Americ

congregations have been dearly supporting me for my Cambodia mission. Sinthe year of 2005 up to present I have been serving as Dean and recenappointed as the interim Chancellor for International Theological College aSeminary, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, established 3 years ago. With the ExcellenUng Ty, currently I also have a privilege to work as adviser and board directo

of Foreign Affairs in the Cambodia Christian Protestant Community (CCPC) as well.

First of all, I would like to extend my warmest gratitude to my Lord, Jesus Christ as well as all members of the CCPC, particularly the Excellency Senator Ung Ty, for I have a precious opportunity explain brief sketch of the mission of the CCPC and its importance to Cambodia Christians. In this columI would like to share on my humble thoughts concerning the necessity of the CCPC to Cambodi

Christianity where many Cambodian Christian leaders and foreign missionaries have been involved but have ignored the importance of their involvement in the CCPC, either intentionally unintentionally. I wish that the readers may understand better the identity of the CCPC, so that they mwork together univocally for inevitable Cambodia mission near future, which is my humble prayer.

    1. Why is the CCPC established? When critical religious conflicts are suddenly erupted in the society of Cambodia, in order to neutralitheir problems, Cambodia government officers, Parliaments, and Senators, and, most of all, the ExcellenPremier Samdech Hun Sen himself wants to listen the unified opinion of Christianity as whole for tpublic religious welfare of Cambodia, as listening the alleged opinions from other religions such Buddhism and Islam. As we know, the religious conflicts in various religions among countries or within

country have been sharply increased to the most vulnerable level since the tragedy of September 11, 20at USA where the Islamic extremists declared the Holy War, so to speak, against Christianity, sendingdevastating suicide mission against United State of America by hijacking on air and destroying tWorld Trade Center, that is, arguably the most prosperous economic symbol of USA. The world has beshaken by this cruel incident happened in the name of their God, Allah.

Nowadays, particularly at the many countries in Asia, there have been numerous reported incidentsserious religious crashes that cost many innocent religious human lives. In the midst of religious confliat anywhere, for the sake of the welfare of Christians, the Christianity must raise the unified voice on acritical situation. Otherwise, there would not be any safeguard for Christians. The nation of Cambodia hnot been an exception for possible and imminent conflicts among religions, witnessing all the religioconfrontations throughout Asia. Thus, the Christianity of Cambodia must have a solid agency represent its unified voice, that is, Cambodia Christian Protestant Community (CCPC). The CCPC is tlegitimate and formidable legal channel to represent this unified voice of Christianity in Cambodia IntReligious Council (CIC) officially endorsed by Cambodia government, Parliaments, and Senators on tyear of 2002. Therefore, it goes without saying that every Christian is heavily obligated to join asupport the CCPC in order to speak out for the consistent welfare of each Christian in Cambodia. The CCis neither political organization nor any private Christian organization such as a denomination orprivate Christian association. Further, the CCPC is not a mere Christian fellowship assembly either. Itdefinitely the only legal representative of the entire Cambodia Protestant Christianity, neither governby the Cambodia government nor by any private organization, but only governed by the legitimarepresentatives of Cambodia Protestant Christians as whole.

    9/11

. Why is the CCPC so important for Cambodia Christians? The CCPC, as representative of Christianity in Cambodia, is obligated to speak truly for the sake of twhole Protestant Christianity welfare in Cambodia to the government or to any other religions as concerned issues among Protestant Christianity. Its vitality, necessity, and availability of the CCPC fthe welfare of Cambodia Christians cannot be too much emphasized here. It is imperative for us support the CCPC.By the grace of God, during last decade the Christianity in Cambodia has rapidly grown in considerabnumbers as well as Christian enterprises such as evangelism, church plantings, Christian educati

institutes and so forth. Thus, it goes without saying that there are many Christian involved in varioChristian organizations: various denominational Churches and education institutions, many Christicharity NGOs, and so forth. The more the diverse enterprises of Christianity are implemented, mlikely, the more problems or conflicts would be inevitably increased, confronting with other religiointerest or government officers prejudice on Christianity. Here, then, a crucial question comes: Who awhat can effectively help Christians (you) in the deep troubles and bring them concrete solution for th(your) problems? Is the denomination that you are affiliated with can be helpful? Or are there anprivate Christian associations to solve your imminent problems? Otherwise, will it be Ministry of Cult aReligion working for your side? If you think so, please, wake up! You may dream of it! It is not a smachoice for you to choose one of them to solve your problem. Let me tell you the answer for you, itnothing but the CCPC, which is the only officially recognized channel to speak out for the sake of yours

and contains sufficient authority to solve your immediate troubles, as if it may work as your angel. Habout that? Isnt it wonderful? So far, the CCPC has effectively solved various troubles of local or foreiministers, working effectively with government officers, judges, and local authorities better than aother Christian organizations. The CCPC has bunch of cases solved in conflicts. Thus, I urge you in tname of Lord, every Christians and organization must join in the CCPC, work hand to hand, and rayour legitimate voice univocally in the name of the entire Cambodia Christianity to the governmeofficers or other religious leaders whom you ought to deal with. I believe univocal cooperation should done through the CCPC that God has given us opportunity to defend our faith. Again, this unificooperation in Cambodian Christianity is my humble pray for Cambodia Christians.

. Why does the CCPC will eventually be victorious?Frankly speaking, I do not have to say too much about the legitimacy of the CCPC, because its existenas the representative council of the whole protestant Church, was legally endorsed by the Honorable Kihimself, the Parliament, and the government. (I recommend you to read an article in the CCPC officwebsite written by the Excellency Ung Ty as to this matter). Thus, here I do not even try to make argument about its legitimacy as the representative identity of the entire Cambodia ProtestaChristianity. However, as to the glorious and victorious task of the CCPC, I would like to emphasize on victorious destiny and speak it out from the word of God, Scripture, where my faith rests upon.

Deuteronomy 1: 19-33 speaks for not only the Israelites but also contemporary Cambodian Christian atheir spiritual leaders. Here God emphatically declares solid biblical reasons to be victorious for Hpeople, Israelites, in the midst of the troublesome times, confronting the cruel Amorites, which wunquestionably enormous challenge to the Israelites. Therefore, God repeatedly proclaim His words:

not be terrified and do not be afraid. These words of God encourage me the most whenever I am troublesome times. Here I desire to share with you few biblical principles from the Scripture, carryienormous task of the CCPC. Why is our victory possible in the midst of trials? For responding to thmatter, we ought to pay attention to what God said about our mission each of us. As I am a memberthe CCPC, I want to draw vital messages from the Scripture for the sake of the CCPC and share them wyou. There is valuable lesson to draw our attention:

Firstly, it is God who is giving His promise of victory to the Israelite against Amorites, the formidabChallenge at that time (v.20). It was an impossible task for Israelites to conquer over them, but God simpdemands for their belief upon Gods promise. It takes only belief for victorious life! Although the CCPthus, will have confrontation with various impedimentsto fulfill Gods solemn tasks of unifying the enti

    10/11

Christians in Cambodia, I have confidence that as time goes by, in our belief, God will bring to us incorporated spirit through the CCPC over whatever the hindrances may lie among us, eventually, CCPC will be victorious against anything at all, even other religions, for the sake of the whole CambodProtestant Christianity. The CCPC will be used as sharpen sword in spiritual warfare throughout the areas of Cambodia.

Secondly, it is God who is fighting for the Israelites before their very eyes (v.30). This is again a solempromise of God to His people. Did Israelites have enough armaments and human resources to bring a wagainst this mighty Amorites? Absolutely not! The Israelites did not even have basic battle weaponry

fight against Amorites at all. However, there is absolute assurance: God promises to fight for the Israeliwhich surely brings the victory to the Israelite. If God is for us, who can be against us? (Rom. 8:31). Tassurance of victory with God shall be implemented in the work of the CCPC through Jesus Christ whowe believe, in spite of numerous ordeals laid ahead of us. As if we were the soldiers of God in biblical tiof Deuteronomy, in fighting through our troubles, God will fight against evils for us by Himself. What incredible blessing we have! Let us believe it!

Thirdly, it is God who is carrying the Israelites out of imminent troubles and difficulties. The Israelite hbeen with His mighty presence of the pillars of fire and cloud in the midst of Israelites, that is, Imman(v.31;33). I am convinced that God is carrying the CCPC in the midst of troubled days, as much as Gpromised with the Israelites. The Cambodia Protestant Christians have presently had numer

challenges within the circle of Christianity: separation and egotistic independence due to divedenominations, private church associations, independent education institutes, private enterprise andforth. Consequently, there isnota single unified voice which may cause to draw serious attention frany other religious leaders, to whom we must raise our voice together and demand audaciously fdefense of our faith. Let us believe that God will expectedly carry us to the victorious journey with Hpresence of the Holy Spirit through our difficult paths. No doubt that the CCPC, eventually, will victorious at the end in the Spirit of God.

Considering these biblical principles, I cannot think anything else, but God is blessing Cambodia for sudespite all the challenges and difficulties that Cambodia Christianity presently bears: Now, God is giviall Cambodian Christians the solemn promises for the welfare of Cambodia Christianity in fulfilling H

glorious redemptive plan; God is fighting for Cambodian Christians against any confrontations aafflictions; God is being with Cambodians through the Holy Spirit every day.

Knowing these blessings over Cambodia, I am sure that God must have a particular providence for texistence of the CCPC endorsed by the Holy Spirit. I am convinced that God is using the CCPC indispensable means to accomplish His glorious redemption throughout Cambodia. This is my belief avision through my honest prayer and personal experiences with the members of the CCPC.

Cambodia is indeed offering an enormous opportunity for Gods glorious mission to be accomplish(Great Commission, Matthew 28: 18-20) not only to local church ministers but also to foremissionaries. We must responsibly work together in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ and univocally ain terms of the defense of Christianity without demanding an identical denominational faith or theoloThe Cambodian Christian must be unified in the name of Protestant Christianity Protestant Commun(CCPC), which is required by the law and regulation of Cambodian. Honorable readers! I sincerely requyour prayer over the CCPC for its faithful work only in the name of the Lord and oneness of heart in servant hood of the Lord beyond any Christian denominations or affiliations, or even biblical atheological institutions.

Let us remember this Scripture, which isthe voice of Godto us today: Make every effort to keep the unof the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit-just as you were called to ohope when you were called-one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father all, who is over all athrough all and in all. (Ephesians 3:3-6)

May God affluently bless you and your mission work!
