In partnership with SAP’s 6 University Competence Centers around the

world, universities gain access to an ever-expanding range of SAP software

and curriculum, enabling faculty to help students better connect business

and IT concepts to practice.

SAP University Alliances also fosters entrepreneurship and innovation

with Millennials through crowdsourcing, inspiring students to form

startup companies leveraging SAP technologies.

How to Bring Industry 4.0 into Your Academic Programs

SAP University Alliances and Festo Didactic will jointly build an Industry 4.0 education and

research package that will target engineering, business, and executive MBA students. This

package will include: Classroom training, openSAP courses, courses on Academy Cube and

research topics.

For production plant aspects, the curriculum refers to the Festo Transfer Factory. The system

provisioning for the curriculum will be provided by SAP University Alliances UCCs

Classroom training: 4.0 Curriculum

VALUE PROPOSITION/OBJECTIVE

• Industry 4.0 is focused on creating smart products, procedures and processes. In the smart

factory, human beings, machines and resources communicate with each other as naturally

as in a social network. Smart products actively support the manufacturing process,

answering questions such as “ When was I made?” or “Where I was made?”

CONTENT OVERVIEW

• The curriculum provides a broad understanding about the topic Industry 4.0. In the beginning

the focus will be on explaining how the manufacturing world has changed over the last

centuries and which influences led to this new Industry 4.0 paradigm. After the theoretical

part different hands-on exercises will enable to students to work in an Industry 4.0-like

environment.

• Available languages: EN

INVOLVED UNIVERSITIES

• To reflect the state of the art knowledge, the curriculum development is a collaborative

project between SAP, Festo and 5 universities (2 from EMEA, 2 from APJ , and 1 from US)

that have a long history in manufacturing.
