was hooked.寝I fell in love with opera,, Now 20, Lindsey is ajunior majoring in Voice
Performance at Curtis Institute ofMusic in Philadelphia. She used her 2018 Win§tOn Voice
scholar§hip for $21100 to study at the Chautauqua Institution summer program and in July
was featured in the role ofAdina in its production ofDonizetti’s comic opera L’eI応;r
〆,amore.
SHIRLEY RÅBB WINSTON SCHOLARSHIP
IN CLASSICAL VOICE
An annualscholarship in honor ofthe late Shirley Rabb Winston9 a meZZO SOPranO Whohad a long and successful career in operal is available through the National Society of Arts
and Letters to singers ages 16 to 22・ Applicants must demonstrate exceptional taIent and
PrOmise of future success.
The scholarship funds are for private study, SPeCial training or personal advancement in
the applicantsl future careers. The funds can be used for college tuition, but not for
housing, traVeI or per§Onal expenses・
Scholarship funds are sent to the institution● teaCher or program selected by the
SCholarship recipient. Recipients have 15 months to use their §Cholarships.
Applicants who have not received a scholarship may apply as o請en as their age allows.
Scholarship recipients may not reapply for the scholarship, but are eligible to compete in
Other NSAL competitions.
ELIGIBILITY
The applicant must:
1. be a citizen ofthe United States. Copies ofbirth certificates or naturalization papers
must be submitted with the applications.
2. be atleast 16 years old? but notolderthan 22 by March l' 2019.
3. not be a previou§ reCipient ofa Win§tOn Scholarship in Classical Voice.
REPERTOIRE and APPLICÅTION
l. Prepare a current, high quality video ofthree (3) vocal selections from opera, art SOng Or
oratorio・ One song must be in English and each of the songs must be contrasting in styIe
and sung from memory. Total time - 10 minutes.
Selection§ may nOt be edited) audio may not be enhanced and the singer should be clear看y
visibIe. Do not submit a recording of a performance.
2. Upload the completed video to YouTube. Identify′ yOur§elfby name on看y. List your song
titles and composers in the video description.
3. Complete the application form. Be cIcar about your commitment to a vocal career.

CHAPTER ADJUDICATION
l. Qua睡ed judges chosen by each NSAL chapter wi看l select the YouTube auditions ofa
maximum of two performers・
2. The audition§ WilI bejudged in two age groups: 16-18 and 19-22.
DEADLINES
l. Contestant applications are due to chapters by February l? 2019.
2. Chapters must send by mai萱or email the application(S) oftheir finalist(S) and YouTube
audition information to the National Committee Chair before the deadline ofMarch l,

3. Win§tOn Voice Scholarship recipients wil置be announced the first week in Apri1 2019.
