Bus picks you up at 9. From there we do the traditional Golden circle route and visit highlights of Iceland. The Golden Circle is a popular tourist route in South Iceland, covering about 300 km looping from Reykjavík intocentral Iceland and back. The three primary stops on the route are the national park Þingvellir.Þingvellir (Icelandic: [ˈθiŋkˌvɛtlɪr̥] , (Thing Fields) is a place in Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland, nearthe peninsula of Reykjanes and the Hengill volcanic area. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geologicalimportance and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. It is the site of a rift valley that marks thecrest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It is also home to Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland. Parliamentor Alþingi was established at Þingvellir in 930 and remained there until 1798. Þingvellir National Park was founded in1930 to protect the remains of the parliament site and was later expanded to protect natural phenomena in thesurrounding area. Þingvellir National Park was the first national park in Iceland and was decreed "a protectednational shrine for all Icelanders, the perpetual property of the Icelandic nation under the preservation ofparliament, never to be sold or mortgaged."

Then we stop at the waterfall Gullfoss (meaning "golden falls"), and thegeothermally active valley of Haukadalur, which contains thegeysers Geysir and Strokkur. Though Geysir has been inactive for a long time,Strokkur, on the other hand, continues to erupt at every 5-10 minutes interval.Other stops include Kerið volcano crater, Hveragerði greenhousevillage, Skálholt church, and the Nesjavellir or Hellisheidarvirkjun geothermalpower plant. In Hveragerði we stop for a short hike, around 3 hours, to a naturalhot river where we will take a bath. So remember to bring swim equipment, andthere are no dressingrooms, you just have to figure out a way to take off yourclothes and put them back on again. Fjallhalla adventurers provide you withheadlight, cause it might be getting dark on our way back. We end this nice tripwith a pizzabuffé at Hoflandssetrip in Hveragerði before we drive back to Reykjavík.
