F. VISION & LIGHTING
Normal fiducial detection is by an enhanced correlation technique that has been optimised todetect pre-programmed fiducial shapes referred to as ‘Synthetic’ fiducials. A ‘Video Model’standard correlation technique is provided to cope with fiducials for which a pre-programmedshape does not yet exist.Synthetic fiducials are programmed by selecting one of the pre-programmed shapes & enteringnumerically set dimensions. Alternatively the shape can be superimposed on actual fiducial &adjusted to fit. Currently available shapes are: circle, rectangle, diamond, triangle, cross anddouble square. A major advantage of this method is its independence of optical variationsbetween different machines, making the full transfer of product settings between printers possible.Other advantages of this method are increased accuracy, increased tolerance to variations infiducial size and rotation.Video Model fiducials are selected rectangular areas of the image containing the fiducials.Correlation or template matching, as it is also called, is used to locate the position in an image thatgives the best match to the stored video model. The advantage of this method is that it can be usedwhere a synthetic shape does not exist.
G. VISION LIGHTING
This vision system is very tolerant of lighting variations, but it is still important to achieve a goodquality image to give the best results. For flat tinned copper or plain copper fiducials, the bestresults are obtained with vertical lighting. Domed tinned or fiducials covered with solder resist arebest viewed using light from a wide angle. The 265 has two optional lighting systems, a verticalilluminator and a ring illuminator enabling selection of the best lighting for any application.

16. DEK 265 HOST COMMUNICATION IMPLEMENTATION
The 265 Host Communications interface has been designed and implemented to comply with1991 SEMI Equipment Communications Standards. The standards define a communicationinterface suitable for the exchange of messages between semi-conductor processing equipmentand a host device. The messages are divided into different categories, each category being aspecific stream of messages. Specific activities within these streams are called functions. Streamsor categories embrace a particular area of information which needs to be communicated betweenthe host and equipment. The 265 uses the following SECS-II command streams:
Stream 1 - Equipment StatusStream 2 - Equipment control and diagnosticsStream 6 - Data collectionStream 7 - Process program managementStream 9 - System errorsStream 13 - Unformatted data set transfers
Within these streams the following functions are recognised:Stream 1
