JOINING THE COMPANY OF BELIEVERS What will help you to believe? Today’s scripture readings tell of faith and doubt. They offer stories “recorded to help you believe,” as the passage from John’s Gospel (20:31) remarks today. There is an urgency about this. On this Second Sunday of Easter we are challenged to join the company of believers—countless men and women who witnessed the power of the apostles’ faith. There is no doubt that this power comes from Jesus Christ. The second reading, from the book of Revelation, reports John’s mystical vision of the Son of Man, who proclaims, “Once I was dead, but now I live” (Revelation 1:18). The Gospel gathers everyone but Thomas to see the Risen Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit from him. Like Thomas, we who have come along later must have faith so that we can have life.

UNIRSE A LA COMUNIDAD DE CREYENTES ¿Qué te ayudará a tener fe? Las lecturas bíblicas de hoy hablan de la fe y de la duda. Se “escribieron… para que ustedes crean”, como nos dice hoy el pasaje del Evangelio de san Juan (20:31). Tiene esto una cierta urgencia. En este Segundo Domingo de Pascua se nos lanza un desafío a unirnos a la comunidad de creyentes –un sinnúmero de hombres y mujeres que dan testimonio del poder de la fe de los Apóstoles. No hay duda que este poder viene de Jesucristo. La segunda lectura, del libro del Apocalipsis, relata la visión mística de Juan sobre el Hijo del Hombre, el cual proclama: “Estuve muerto y de nuevo soy el que vive” (Apocalipsis 1:18). El Evangelio reúne a todos excepto a Tomás para ver a Jesús resucitado y recibir de él el Espíritu Santo. Al igual que Tomás, los que hemos llegado más tarde debemos tener fe para poder tener vida.

Del Escritorio del Pastor Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo:

“Den gracias al Señor porque es bueno porque es eterna su misericordia”. En este ambiente festivo de Pascua, abrimos los ojos a las maravillas que hace el Señor Resucitado en quienes creen en El, y con corazón agradecido quiero reconocer el gran amor de todos ustedes primero al Señor y segundo a su parroquia. Por los frutos que saboreamos todos de cada quien que de sus dones comparte para el bien de la comunidad.

Quiero agradecer a todo el Pueblo de Dios que se

hizo parte de estas celebraciones en la Semana Mayor, especialmente a quienes volvieron y otros que nos visitaron.

Vale expresar un reconocimiento a Don Carlos por

su experiencia en ambientar y decorar cada Día Santo. También la admiración y aprecio que inspiran nuestros jóvenes por su energía y alegría contagiantes. La Procesión por las calles resultó un éxito gracias al sigilo y cuidado que pusieron en ausencia de la Policía organizando el tránsito mientras ese gran número de fieles se desplazaba en este acto de fe. Gracias Dr. López por sus equipos de sonido que hicieron la diferencia en esa noche santa. Lo mismo el Domingo de Pascua todos nuestros niños salieron contentos en la caza de huevos de Pascua. Todo bien organizado desde luego por mérito de nuestros líderes George y María ¡Cómo no decirles gracias por ser parte de nuestra familia parroquial!

A nuestras hermanas de San Juan Bautista,

especialmente por preparar a los niños y adultos quienes recibieron los sacramentos en la Vigilia Pascual. Por prever para que haya suficientes copias para las oraciones matutinas, por hacer las listas de monaguillos, por el apoyo de siempre en cada actividad parroquial.

A los ministros extraordinarios de la Comunión,

gracias Sra. Winnie y Carmen Pérez por coordinar los lectores. También apreciamos el trabajo silencioso pero efectivo de nuestros ministros de acogida. A quienes son parte del ministerio de música un reconocimiento especial, por su capacidad de adaptarse a esta situación de no tener todavía un Director de Música fijo se desenvolvieron espléndidamente. Gracias Reynaldo por su presencia. A nuestros monaguillos por su esfuerzo y cariño que mostraron en cada celebración durante esta Semana Santa.

From the Desk of the Pastor Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good for his mercy endures forever." In this festive atmosphere of Easter, we open our eyes to the wonders that the Risen Lord causes in those who believe in Him and I would like to acknowledge with grateful heart the love of all of you first to the Lord and second to your parish. By the fruits that we all taste from everyone who shares his gifts for the good of the community. I want to thank all the People of God who became part of the celebrations during the Holy Week, especially those who returned and others who visited us. We need to express a special recognition to Mr. Carlos for his expertise in the decorations for each Holy Day. Also the admiration and appreciation that our youth inspire through their energy and contagious joy. The procession around the streets was a success thanks to the caution and care they put into organizing in spite of the absence of traffic police while the large number of faithful moved in this act of faith. Thank you Dr. Lopez for the sound system that made the difference in that holy night and for all your help and dedication. The same on Easter Sunday our children went happy to the Easter egg hunt. All well organized and of course for the merits of our leaders George and Maria. How can we not say thank you for being part of our parish family! To our Sisters of Saint John the Baptist, especially for preparing the children and the adults who received the sacraments at the Easter Vigil, and for making the list for altar servers and ministers. For making sure that there were enough copies for morning prayers, and for the support provided in each parish activity. To the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, thanks to Mrs. Winnie Obi and Mrs. Carmen Pérez for coordinating the lectors. We also appreciate the quiet but effective work of our ministers of Hospitality. A special recognition to those who are part of the music ministry for their ability to adapt in this situation of not having yet a fixed Director of Music. You did a magnificent job; Reynaldo Thank you for your presence. To our altar boys for their effort and love they showed in every celebration during this Holy Week.
