REPORT on:
24 HOURS OF REALITY 20-21st November 2019
On 20-21st November 24 hours of Reality-Truth in Action, a global conversation on the climate crisis and
how we solve it led by Climate Reality Leaders trained by former Vice President Al Gore was organized.
This has been acclaimed to be one among the most sought out broadcast across the globe where global
climate crisis was showcased with individual country focus, which was diving deep into the problem,
consequences and solution regimen.
This year, Mr. Al Gore asked the climate leaders to come forward and share what they are doing across
the globe on this subject. 24 hours of reality: truth in action was an amazing success. In 80 countries and
on all seven continents including Antarctica, 1,750 presentations reached thousands of individuals and
advanced bold policy solutions to the climate crisis.
In Indian scenario, we had presentations at Himalayas, Majuli islands, Odisha, Sunderbans, Chennai,
Kochi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and many other places that have been affected by climate change in one
way or the other. Local stories of positive change connected with the audience well and almost everyone
made a promise to lower his/her carbon footprint, to the best extent possible.
As part of the 24 Hours of Reality Climate Reality
Leader from Kolkata, West Bengal, Ajay Mittal
made a presentation before heads of Farmer
Clubs and others in Khalisadi Village.
The group constituted of around 50 multipliers,
who have outreach to around 500 farmers. He
explained the group about the alternatives of
chemical fertilizers and pesticides, need to switch
to solar-powered water pumps from fossil fuel run
diesel ones, ways of water conservation and
rejuvenation of soil.
AJAY MITTAL, WEST BENGAL
Climate Reality Leader Alka Tomar gave the
Climate Reality Leader Presentation for Bachelors
in Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC)
and Masters in Journalism and Mass
Communication (MJMC) at NRAI School of Mass
Communication, Green Park, New Delhi.
With almost 60% female gender among 30
participants, the Climate Reality session with
intense climate dialogue was held from 03:10 pm –
04:30 pm. The youth has been asked to login to
climate reality website for indicating plantation of
tree on their behalf.
ALKA TOMAR, NEW DELHI
ASHOK PANDEY, NEW DELHI
Mr. Ashok Pandey gave a presentation at Ahlcon
International School to an audience of around 100
staff members and 200 students in batches. The
theme revolved around how the active citizens of
the world, can bring about a change through one’s
conviction of words and realization. The data was
shared about how different sectors are responsible
for the overall global warming pollution. Apart
from this, Dr. Pandey gave a reality check on the
various initiatives being taken in the fields of
renewable energy.
BARUN AGGARWAL, NEW DELHI
Mr. Barun Agarwal, who is actively working on
combating air pollution at work places, conducted
a session with his own employees. He emphasized
on working more closely with stakeholders by
going beyond their routine as the staff has been
working on one among the most important aspect
that is responsible for among the highest number
of health related problems because of air
pollution.
FAWZIA TARANNUM, NEW DELHI
Climate Reality Leader Fawzia Tarannum from
New Delhi organized a Climate Emergency Walk
from TERI School of Advanced Studies and
interacted with Grade 11 students Sarvodaya
Vidyalaya on 21st November.
About 50 Students and Faculty members took
part in the Climate Emergency Walk spreading
awareness about the urgency to take action
towards mitigating Climate Change.
JITENDRA VERMA, HIMACHAL PRADESH
Climate Reality Leader Jitendra Verma conducted
a session for class 8th students at DAV Sunder
Nagar, Himachal Pradesh with an active
participation from students who asked questions
on how they can be more involved in this global
fight. Mr. Verma shared the local problem that is
affecting horticulture (fruit farms) owing to
climate change. Unplanned development and hill
side management was also discussed with the
younger change makers.
KAMAL MEATTLE, MAHARASHTRA
Mr. Kamal Meattle, one of the Climate Reality
Project Trustee made an impactful presentation
with fellow corporate heads at the financial
capital of Mumbai.
He emphasised on making inventory of carbon
footprint of each and every business vertical
these leaders were involved with and further on
how to reduce it. His corporate friends made a
promise to act on the same.
KRISHNA KALRA, HARYANA
Mr. Krishna Kalra, Climate Reality Leader and
Trustee, The Climate Project Foundation gave a
presentation at the Alpine Convent School in
Gurugram, Haryana on 21st November for 24
Hours of Reality- Truth in Action.
The presentation was attended by around 300
students and faculty members.
NITA GANGULY, MUMBAI
Climate Reality Leader Nita Ganguly gave a
presentation in Mumbai on Climate Change and
waste at The BD Petit Parsee General Hospital.
Around 120 staff members were appraised on
how waste is creating a lot of problem for India as
whole and coastal cities like Mumbai in particular.
Sea has become a dumping ground and off late,
owing to natural phenomenon a lot of it is coming
back to the shore aggregating the overall problem
on beaches which otherwise have a lot of touristic
appeal.
PARTH JOSHI, HARYANA
Climate Reality Leader Parth Joshi gave a
presentation on Climate Crisis in High-altitude
Himalaya to a group of 6 people from Natural
Resource Management and Biodiversity team at
UNDP. Key discussion areas included accelerated
glacial melt, increased frequency of natural
disasters and loss of flora and fauna that are
impacting the lives and livelihoods of remote
communities as well as millions downstream.
PRADEEP BURMAN, NEW DELHI
Climate Reality Leader and Trustee, The
Climate Reality Project Foundation Mr. Pradeep
Burman had a Climate Reality Hour at Mobius
Foundation Office in New Delhi for 24 Hours of
Reality- Truth in action.
It was an interactive session on climate change
with the office employees. A contest was also
announced to submit a suggestion/write up on
things that can be done in the office to serve
one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
RAJ MOHAN, WEST BENGAL
Mr. RajMohan carried out his presentation at
one of the most climate sensitive zones in India
ie Sunder bans, West Bengal. The school was
established almost a 100 year ago but
unfortunately, the local surroundings are
getting affected by loss of mangroves, more
water contamination and degradation of flora
and fauna. The local population is still trying to
understand relationship between climate
change and local effects it is posing on them.
The session ended with plantation of local
variants of plants by these students.
RASHIDA ATTHAR, MAHARASHTRA
Ms. Rashida Atthar carried out a climate
change session and tree walk for students at a
Mumbai School. The presentation focussed on
loss of flora and fauna and how students can be
involved in preservation of that. Highlight of
the walk and talk was a student contest in
which they were asked to identify the highest
number of plant species from leaves, winners
were suitably rewarded for their efforts.
SANDIP CHOWDHURY, JHARKHAND
Climate Reality Leader Mr. Sandip Chowdhury
gave a presentation to 57 students of Standard
11th of Kendriya Vidyalaya Surda, Jharkhand.
Here, the focus was solution part in which ways
and means were discussed on how agriculture
can be turned more sustainable with usage of
solar water pumps and heading towards
organic farming.
SHIVANI SINGH, NEW DELHI
Ms. Shivani gave a presentation on plant
genomes and how changing climate is affecting
the growth of good compounds. With local hot
spot developments, more and more vulnerable
species are taking over plants natural strength
to fight these fungus and infections. Fellow
attendees were amazed with the kind of
insights being shared on loss of overall
agriculture which otherwise is a mainstay for a
majority of local population.
SMRUTI SHWETA, ASSAM
Climate Reality Leader Smruti Shweta organised
three different sessions for 24 hours of Reality-
Truth in Action at her office, one through
Whatsapp and third one through Slideshare-
Linkedin. She attended to more than 300
participants with these mediums and made
them aware on local affects taking places in the
vincity of Guwahati and North-East as a whole.
SUSAN THOMAS, NEW DELHI
Climate Reality Leader Susan Thomas gave a
Presentation on Climate change and Action in
Tagore International School, New Delhi and
later at Foundation school in the second half.
She carried out video presentations along with
animation cartoons which spoke of climate
change in a very tender way. The students later
pledged to save their Mother Earth.
VIVEK TRIVEDI, NEW DELHI
Climate Reality Leader Vivek Trivedi gave a
Presentation on Climate change: Adaptation
and Mitigation in Chandigarh Punjab for 24
hours of Reality- Truth in action. He addressed
college students on various avenues available
in the Green jobs space to which they can
focus on as they graduate, as the mainstream
is already overcrowded for jobs and spaces
like these, need leaders who can help
businesses make a informed choice with
respect to sustainable practices.
