Over the last couple of weeks I have experienced some wonderful, incidental moments that I would like to share: Our K, 1 & 2 students went to see a production at the Murwillumbah Civic Centre on Wednesday of this week. The excitement that this seemingly innocuous excursion created was a sight to behold. When I asked the children what they were so excited about responses varied from, “This was the first time I have been on a bus," “We are going to another town,” “I get to sit next to my friend all the time,” etc. Clearly in the minds and eyes of the children this was a great adventure! I was in the main courtyard of the school one morning before school commenced, when one of our Yr 1 girls came skipping into school. I quipped to her “You look happy today” and her reply was, “This is the best day of my life!” I inquired as to why and her response was, “All of Yr 1 are going to the beach today”. She then went on to tell me the story that her mum never went to the beach when she was at school! On Wednesday I spoke to all our Yr 6 students about their roles as leaders within the school. Not to reinforce what they should be doing, but to thank them for what there are doing! Our Yr 6 students are wonderful role models for other students and importantly their work ethic and commitment to self improvement is exemplary. Yesterday, watching the fun of St Ambrose Has Got Talent, this is always a delight. I think we all lead very busy lives and often over look the wonderful things that surround us and the beautiful environment in which we live. It is important that we live in the moment and celebrate the simple things that are in our life, as these often bring the greatest enjoyment. Enjoy each day and hopefully everyday will be “the best day of my life!” At St Ambrose we have much to celebrate: A BIG THANK YOU to our Yr 4 and 5 parents who ran our recent Dance Fever night. There were lots of volunteers who stepped forward to ensure the night was a great success. Importantly, the children had a great night. Thanks to all those who attended. Congratulations to Caitlin Buxton (Yr 1 Teacher) who was married last week. We wish Caitlin and Brandon (Mr and Mrs Potessu) a life together full of great happiness and good health. Mrs Carlie Cain (Yr 2) and Mrs Kathryn McGloin (Drama) will both be going on maternity leave at the end of this term. We wish them all the best with the impending birth of their second child. Mrs Cain will be replaced by Mrs Fowler and Mrs McGloin will be replaced by Mrs Loretta Visser. Mrs Fowler is well known to Yr 2 having taught them earlier this year and Mrs Visser is currently the drama teacher at St Joseph’s College, Banora Point. We welcome them both! It was with great excitement that Mrs Abbi Pratten and Mr Sam Powell announced last week that they are expecting their first child next March. Great news! Thank you for another wonderful term, your ongoing support and encouragement is greatly appreciated. Hopefully you can enjoy some family time over the school holidays! Dear Parents / Carers,

DANCE FEVER FAMILY NIGHT

On Wednesday 20th September our K-2 students went on an excursion to see the theatre production of Grug and the Rainbow.!Featuring exquisite puppetry and gentle storytelling that delighted the students, this show took the children on a magical, immersive and epic journey with Grug to reach the rainbow that always seems just beyond his grasp. Such a magical day for us all!!

Throughout the term, the students of St Ambrose have been working hard with their Dance Fever mentors to strengthen their dance skills. Students, parents and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the performances on the night. The hard work and dedication of the students, their Dance Fever mentors and St Ambrose teachers paid off as the students danced with courage and effort – creating a fantastic atmosphere for all. Thank you to the parents who contributed their time to organise and help on the night, it was much appreciated.

Fruit & Veg Month 2017 Our school has registered for the fun of Fruit & Veg Month. Fruit & Veg Month 2017 runs for the last 4 weeks of Term 3, Monday 28th August to Friday 22nd September which involves school based activities which encourage students to eat more fruit and vegetables.

As part of Fruit & Veg Month, students have been taste testing garden produce as well as showcasing it at the school Farmer Market stall. The radishes are the latest vegetable to be ready for harvest! The Year 3's conducted an in class radish extravaganza celebrating the spice of the radish, complemented with dill, parsley, cos, and homegrown cherry tomatoes.

2017 SCHOOL NEWS

The 2017 St Ambrose Has Got Talent Show was on Thursday as a fun way to say farewell to the term. After more than 50 children auditioned for the show the selection was narrowed down to the top 12 performances. These 12 acts displayed a huge variety of talent which helped create a wonderful talent show. So much variety meant there was always something different to look forward to. All the performances were highly entertaining and everyone who auditioned should be proud for having a go. A big thank you to Miss Martin for all her hard work and organisation.
