GANG SHOW REUNION MYSTERIES RĀHINA 6TH HĀNUERE 22ND NEW ZEALAND SCOUT JAMBOREE The biggest secret at Jamboree has been revealed. Scouts discovered what “bird watching” really was during the overnight activity. It turns out they were taken from the lake to go jet boating on the Waikato River. The jet boat raced upstream through the canyon towards the Karapiro dam. Wind ripped through the Scout’s hair and water splashed up over the bow of the boat. Lucy and Sophie from Wellington Storm troop reported the experience as being really exciting with their favourite bit being the 360° spin. It was a highlight of this Jamboree for sure. Cast members, directors, costume designers, lighting directors and everyone else that is required to put on Gang Shows around the globe gathered last night in the Pavillion for a presentation of the latest Gang Shows, accompanied by local Gang Show people dancing and singing along. A few skits were demonstrated by the lovely Nelson Gang Show. A surprising amount of Scouts remembered and danced along to songs from many years ago. The evening finished with everyone singing and dancing along to the classics like: “gee it’s great to be young” and “we’ve been making memories”. “Thanks, and see you all next time” rang out to everyone that could and couldn’t make it. CLOSING CEREMONY

JOKES OF THE DAY

KAYAKINGThere were many activities available at Karapiro water base. Saffron, Dominic, Lily and Alex from the Porirua Punishers and Bethany from Waitoru Detectives had a go at the paddle boarding. Saffron said that the paddle boarding was the best so far and was looking forward to the ‘bird watching’.Also available was kayaking. Bethany said she was a bit scared about falling in the water but it was also really fun. The wind would push the Scouts very fast sometimes and they had to paddle to turn. There were some new white kayaks which were hard to balance and paddle with. When the experienced paddlers hopped in them they were really fast though and that was cool to watch. What an exciting activity.

PUZZLE OF THE DAY

MYSTERIES UNSOLVED

Jack and Cameron from Manakau in Black were at Karapiro yesterday trying out the new cutters. New Zealand Scout groups are acquiring new fern class cutters for Scouts, which are made out of plastic.James said that he started sailing wooden cutters, then fibreglass ones which are much faster. He said that the plastic cutter is way

lighter, goes faster and sails much more smoothly.Cam started on jib, then mainsheet and skipper. Sometimes he would be on third sail, but they don’t use the position often. The new centre board is lighter but stronger and these cutters are apparently way more comfortable to sit in.The Scouts said having the opportunity to meet all these other Scouts is awesome.

The time has come. The mystery badge that so many of you have can now be turned over and you will see which overseas contingent it represents. Thank you to all those who participated for keeping the mystery alive. Sherlock Holmes says BRAVO.

Crack the code and deliver your message to the Media Office to win a prize.

Media Office will be open to receive entries between 7pm and 9pm to-night.

DAY BADGESHave you gotten all of the day badges yet? There are a few different ways to put them together and solve the mystery.
