THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 27, 2019

My Dear Parishioners,

Praised Be Jesus Christ! This week, we wrap up a very busy and exci ng October for our Parish. From the Blessing of our Altar to the Oktoberfest to the Visit from the Sisters of Life, October has been quite a month for us. Grateful to all who made those events possible. Special thanks to our Knights of Columbus who established contact with the

Sisters of Life, they presented to the Sisters a check for $1500.00 which came from the Baby Bo le Campaign.

For this week, instead of the usual column, I ask you to read the Financial Report Insert for the past Fiscal Year.

Finally, take note of the following, upcoming events slated for the rest of the Year:

Nov. 1: All Saints Day. Holy Day of Obliga on.

Nov. 2: All Souls Day. Parish Memorial Mass at 9AM. Please note there will be NO 8AM Mass.

Nov 2: 5PM Mass: Pastoral Visit from Archbishop Chaput

Nov. 24: 7PM Thanksgiving Prayer Service with area Churches, held in our parish Church.

Dec. 8: 12 Noon: Closing Mass of our Jubilee Year followed by an Adults only Banquet at the Mendenhall .

Dec. 15: Parish Christmas Tree Ligh ng, Children’s Pageant and Advent Concert by Adult Choir.

Peace,

Fr. Rogers

An Evening of Reflec on

“Advent by Candlelight”

Dear Women,

Before you know it, we will be seeing the Christmas decora ons in the stores. We will be making

our list and checking it twice-the cards, the decora ng, the shop-ping, the baking, the wrapping, the “Holiday” merry making. But how does the birth of the Christ child fit into all this? “Advent by Candlelight” is a beau ful evening that brings women together to focus on the true meaning of this Blessed Season.

When you arrive you find the room filled with tables each uniquely set and decorated by the table hostess. These ladies will invite you as a personal guest and make you feel welcomed and will share with you a moment of faith.

During the evening you will hear a presenta on by Sister Su-zanne Mayer, IHM, Director of Pastoral Counseling at Neuman University. You will share refreshments and dessert with friends and enjoy a fes ve spirit!

Sign up to be a Table Host. As a table host you will host 7 of your family and friends for coffee, tea and dessert. You will send the invita ons. You will come early and decorate your table as you wish with Na vity sets, fine china or paper products; howev-er you like! The only requirement is that your table will have four advent candles on it. These candles will create the peaceful se ng for the evening. You will bring desserts and tea flavors and we’ll provide the coffee and hot water. Enjoy serving your guests as if they were in your home. Consider this evening your Advent gi to them. Perhaps you will send them home with a prayerful favor. Allow your crea vity to set a beau ful place where our hearts will make room for our Lord.

December 5, 2019 from 7:00-9:00PM. Sign up to be a hostess. Contact the parish office at 610-444-4364 by Wednesday, No-vember 27, 2019.

CYO BASKETBALL

We are now accep ng signups for the St. Patrick’s basketball program. It’s open to boys and girls in grades 5-8. We offer teams for beginner and advanced play-ers, so all are welcome to par cipate. It’s a great opportunity to have fun,

make new friends and show off your St. Patrick pride as we com-pete against parishes from around the area. If you are interest-ed or would like more informa on about the program, please contact Bill Dobbins ([email protected] or 302-540-4762).

***************************************************** Between 48AD and 62AD, St. Paul wrote le ers to the infant Chris an Church. From these wri ngs we get a picture of how the early Church operated, worshipped, and governed itself. What insights can we take away for the challenges we face in our mes? Join Fr. Michael Connolly, OSFS on November 3 & 17 a er noon Mass to find out.
