REDUCING RURAL DEFAULT SPEED LIMITS IN TASMANIA

THE Road Safety Advisory Council is considering the issue of safer rural speeds in the development of the Second Action Plan under the Tasmanian Road Safety Strategy.

In accordance with the Subordinate Legislation Act 1992 a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) has been developed on the proposal to reduce default speed limits in Tasmania as follows:

A reduction in the rural default speed limit on sealed rural roads from 100km/h to 90km/h, whilst retaining 100km/h on higher standard rural roads; and

A reduction in the rural default speed limit on unsealed (gravel) roads from 100km/h to 80km/h.

This proclamation fixes 1 January 2011 as the day on which the provisions of the Australian Consumer Law (Tasmania) Act 2010, apart from sections 1 and 2 and Parts 6 and 7 (which provisions commenced on Royal Assent), commence.

(2) Proclamation under section 2 of the Electronic Transactions Amendment Act 2010

This proclamation fixes 1 January 2011 as the day on which the provisions of the Electronic Transactions Amendment Act 2010 commence.

(3) Environmental Management and Pollution Control (Environmental Infringement Notices) AmendmentRegulations (No. 3) 2010

These regulations amend the Environmental Management and Pollution Control (Environmental Infringement Notices) Regulations 2006 by updating the table of infringement notice offences and penalties for waste management offences consequent on the making of the Environmental Management and Pollution Control (Waste Management) Regulations 2010.

(4) Proclamation under section 2 of the Evidence Amendment Act 2010

This proclamation fixes 1 January 2011 as the day on which the provisions of the Evidence Amendment Act 2010 commence.

(5) Forensic Procedures Regulations 2010

These regulations prescribe corresponding laws for the purposes of the Forensic Procedures Act 2000 and rescind the Forensic Procedures Regulations 2001 and certain other regulations.

(6) Health (Fees) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2010

These regulations amend the Health (Fees) Regulations 2007 by increasing the fees for pharmaceutical items that are payable by or on behalf of non-nursing-home-type patients who are non-admitted patients in public hospitals.

(7) Proclamation under the Intestacy Act 2010

This proclamation fixes 1 January 2011 as the day on which the Intestacy Act 2010 commences.

(8) Proclamation under section 2(2) of the Justice and Related Legislation (Further Miscellaneous Amendments) Act 2009

(a) administer, supply and prescribe certain restricted substances; and

These regulations declare certain laws of other jurisdictions to correspond to the Police Powers (Assumed Identities) Act 2006.

These Rules of Court amend the Supreme Court Rules 2000 by providing that proceedings under the Intestacy Act 2010 are to be commenced by application to a judge in chambers.

(22) Poisons List Amendment Order (No. 3) 2010

This order amends the Poisons List Order 2001 by incorporating changes recommended by the National Drugs and Poisons Schedule Committee in the Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons No. 1, Amendment No. 1.
