Purpose of Leadership Institutes
By 2016, about 20% of current site administrative positions will need to be filled with new school leaders.
Provide high-quality, coherent professional development system for aspiring leaders.
Facilitate the development of teacher-leaders who aspire to serve in leadership roles.

Course DescriptionCourse 820 is part of a sequence of courses that are designed to further develop individuals as school leaders who can develop and implement systems to continuously improve teaching and learning in the 21st century.
This course examines the expertise in teaching and learning and coaching techniques to be used to build capacity with teachers and support high quality teaching and learning.
SDCOE School Leadership Program
The administrator will strengthen expertise in teaching and learning and coaching techniques to build capacity with teachers and support high quality teaching and learning. Strengthen personal expert noticing of high quality teaching
and learning through the “Five Dimensions and Thirteen Subdimensions of Teaching and Learning.”
Construct deeper understanding around Subdimension 8; Scaffolds for Learning.
Observe lessons and collect descriptive evidence around the “Five Dimensions and Thirteen Subdimensions of Teaching and Learning.”
Analyze descriptive evidence from a lesson observation to plan a coaching conversation with a teacher.
Identify different types of formal and informal teacher observations and feedback and analyze each of their role in the improvement of teaching and learning.
Need to Know
• Face-2-face meetings are Feb 7 and Mar 21.
