Phonic activities you can play at home
Activity 1: Phonics football! Write words onto a piece of paper and place them on some cones, you can use any object as an obstacle, then dribble the ball around and read the words!
Activity 2: Phonics hopscotch
This game helps children develop their ability to match letters to their sounds.
Write either sounds, words or both onto the ground or on a piece of paper.
There are many ways to play this game – you can call out a letter or word and ask your child to jump on, and as they do, for them to sound out each letter or word.
Activity 3: Phonic flowers
Choose a sound, and write this in the middle of the flower. Write words that have the sound in it on the petals and place them around!
Challenge: Can you create a whole garden of flowers and other plants?
If you would like to send us your phonic flowers or any writing you have done at home please email [email protected]
Parents: Please can you indicate whether you are happy for your child’s work and name to be featured on the reception blog for the school website!
