A visual tour-de-forceThe 2022 Sportage is a bold departure from its predecessors, reflecting Kia’s new design ethos where the natural world and modern aesthetics come together to inspire the exterior appearance of the vehicle.

Taut, crisp lines ripple along the clean, refined body to give Sportage a dynamic, assertive stance. The whole look is lean and muscular, hinting at the power and agility beneath the sculpted body.

This begins at the front of the vehicle, where a completely new iteration of Kia’s tiger nose grille sits between futuristic boomerang-shaped LED daylight running lamps, which in turn cradle striking Matrix LED headlamps. LED front fog lamps complete this impressive array.

Moving towards the rear, the sporting profile highlights the architecturally dynamic C Pillar. Note also, the chrome beltline, emphasising the vehicle’s SUV credentials.

The all-new Sportage maintains its strong road presence at the rear with its sweeping fastback design that flows into razor-shaped rear lamps. The striking rear bumper echoes the famous Kia tiger nose design, and gives the vehicle an impressive, wide appearance from the back.

The ride of your life

The 2022 Sportage embraces the latest powertrain technologies, making it one of the most efficient and eco-friendly SUVs on the road. You will have a choice of three highly capable engines, all of them designed for enthusiastic drivers, to match to your personal driving style.

Efficiency is a key theme for all engines. The 1.6 litre T-GDI engine limits fuel consumption through a new, optimised combustion process and breakthrough cooling technologies. Meanwhile, the 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine features an array of sophisticated technologies to reduce emissions and improve real-world fuel efficiency.

The same desire to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions has flowed through to the transmission systems paired with these three engines. The 1.6 litre turbo petrol engine is paired with a 7-speed dual clutch auto (7DCT), while the

Efficiency with power and performance2.0 litre petrol engine offers a 6-speed auto. An 8-speed auto serves the 2.0 litre diesel engine. In the Deluxe and X-Line models, keen drivers will find paddle shifters that override the auto shifts, letting them enjoy all the driving possibilities offered by these spirited vehicles.

Frugal as they are, all models sprint to 100kph in less than ten seconds. There is power to burn with the 2.0 litre petrol putting out 115 kW @ 6200 rpm with 192 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm, while the 1.6 litre petrol T-GDI ups that to 132 kW @ 5500 rpm and 265 Nm of torque @ 1,500 – 4,500 rpm. Moving up, the 2.0 litre turbo diesel has 137 kW on tap @ 4000 rpm and 416 Nm of torque @ 2000-2700 rpm, good news for those wanting to tow trailers or boats.

The 2022 Sportage’s driving characteristics combine agile and dynamic handling with a stability of ride that ensures optimum comfort regardless of the terrain or road surface. This has been achieved by bringing together advanced steering and suspension systems that have been meticulously tuned to bring out the best in each other.

This all-new vehicle debuts Terrain Mode, designed to make outdoor adventure more sure-footed and comfortable. Terrain Mode does this by automatically adjusting the drive settings (including the suspension setting) to the nature of the surface or prevailing conditions. Mud, sand, or snow – to name only a few – can all be negotiated with ease.

Out of Terrain Mode, the Sportage defaults to Drive Mode where drivers select from Comfort, Eco, Sport, or Smart. Whether you are on the school run, and taking it easy, or looking for extra control on a tight, twisting hill road, the right setting is at your fingertips.

The interior of the all-new Sportage introduces luxuries never seen before in a vehicle of this class. Here you will find boldness, innovation, and individuality as well as the meticulous craftsmanship and premium materials that define a luxury vehicle.

The most striking element in the cabin is the beautifully integrated extended display screen that sweeps across the dashboard. This houses a high-tech 12.3-inch touchscreen, complementing an equally dramatic 12.3-inch instrument cluster with incredibly precise and clear graphics.

Throughout the cabin, the highest quality materials have been used. These are sumptuous to the touch, while being sturdy enough to withstand young passengers, even the family dog.

Luxury takes on new dimensionsEveryone will travel in comfort. An impressive 175mm longer than previous models, the all-new Sportage offers class-leading legroom and headroom. The driver’s power seat is heated as is the front passenger’s seat. Dual zone air conditioning is standard in all but the LX model.

The Sportage is ready to take the family on holiday with an impressive 543 litres of cargo space in the rear of the cabin. This is 77 litres more than the previous Sportage. A flat cargo platform can be created effortlessly with the press of a button.

Kia’s acclaimed Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features Kia’s industry leading Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) which helps avoid collisions with stationary vehicles, cyclists or pedestrians in front of your Sportage, or when turning across traffic. This complements Multi Collision Braking (MCB), designed to reduce damage in a nose-to-tail accident.

Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go which maintains a set distance from vehicles ahead. Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Lane Follow Assist (LFA) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA) combine to keep your Sportage safely in the centre of the lane. Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) is great when you have a boat or trailer in tow, with the 2022 Sportage having more low-end power for towing than ever before – the 2.0 litre diesel boasting 416Nm of torque @ 2000-2700 rpm.

Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist (RCCA) will warn you of potential danger, while Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) helps you park or exit a parking spot using your remote key.

In the unlikely event you are involved in a collision, your family will be well protected by seven airbags, which include a new front centre-side airbag.

Young family members are further protected by up to five anchorage points for child restraints, speed sensing auto lock and a power child safety lock, as well as Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) meaning nobody gets left behind, including the family pooch.

Technology that's always one step aheadThe first time you get into your new Sportage, you’ll know you’re in one of the most technologically advanced SUV’s currently available.

The star of the show is the X-Line’s 12.3” navigation infotainment screen and equally impressive full 12.3” LCD instrument cluster, providing important vehicle and driving information. Here you’ll be able to access the status of everything from tyre pressure to average fuel consumption, using the highly intuitive controls on your steering wheel. Never has a vehicle in this class given you such command.

You’re also in full command of your comfort, with a power drivers’ seat, and heated front seats for those cold mornings. Power windows feature auto up and down for the driver. Meanwhile your Sportage is always thinking for you. The auto window defogger starts even before your vision is compromised.

The electrochromatic rear-view mirror automatically dims the headlight glare from the vehicle behind. Rain sensors immediately detect moisture on the windscreen, and the wipers go to work. When you open your tailgate, it will only lift to the height at which you have set it, a useful feature for those with low clearance in their garage or parking building.

There are two charge ports on the front seats, to complement one USB charge port in the front tray area, along with one media USB port and a 12V power outlet. When you select your favourite playlist, the brilliant Harmon Kardon Sound System immerses you in pure hi-fi sound from eight speakers, satisfying the most demanding audio enthusiast.

The range-topping X-Line brings more than extra refinement to the highly desirable LX, LX Plus and Deluxe models. This is vehicle with a different intent – a true luxury package, with no compromise on practicality or versatility.

Once glance at the exterior tells you how different the X-Line is. The glossy radiator grill, the black roof rails, the panoramic sunroof, the 19” alloys, this vehicle looks the part. Details like the dual LED headlights and LED rear combination lamps reinforce its design-forward credentials.

However, these only hint at the differences within the cabin. Here you’ll find a completely revised central console, where the gearshift has been replaced with a compact E-Shift dial, creating an elegant, streamlined platform between the front seats. The stunning LCD Integrated Cluster is gently sculpted and curved towards the driver, adding visual impact as well as ease of use.

The next thing to strike you is the full leather trim. Both front seats are heated and ventilated, adding comfort to winter and summer journeys. Both are also power adjustable, with the driver’s seat featuring power memory.

Alloy pedals, LED reading lamps, ambient mood lighting, all these add to the luxury of this highly refined vehicle. The X-Line also gains important tech, such as the around view monitor, giving you a 360° view of the vehicle exterior, and the Blind Spot View Monitor (BVM).
