Ms.JacquelineLeducisanurbanplanner,specializedinhousingandsocialdevelopment,withtenyears’experienceinthesuburbsofParis.Fightingtoimprovepeople’sconditionsisoneofhercorebeliefs.Ms.Leducisseriouslycommittedtosocialcauses.Indeed,inparalleltoMMM,shevolunteerswithassociationslikeNewYorkCares,tohelppeopledirectly.ShegrewupinMexicoCityandlivedinParisfor16years.Doublecitizenshiphasaffordedherextensiveexposuretosocialrealitiesindifferentcountries.Fluentinthree

associationusescommunityandschoolawarenessasaworkingtooltochangethementalityofthoseinvolvedinthefieldofeducation.AJADactionconsistsindirectlyinvolvinglocalpopulationssothattheyparticipateinthedevelopmentprojectsthatinvolvedtheircommunitiesandcanbecomerealagentsofdevelopmentintheircountry.Itsapproachintegratesthefuturebeneficiariesoftheprojects,primarilywomen,throughthecreationofcommitteesofmotherswhoareresponsibleforimplementingtheseprojectsinthevillages.AJADissupportedbylocalauthoritiesandbenefitsfromnumerouscontactsattheinternationalandnationallevels,including:MakeMothersMatter,theMinistryofNationalEducationofCôted'Ivoire,theIvorianNationalCommissionforUNESCOandtheUNESCOOfficeinAbidjan.

Dr.ElizabethWerner,ColumbiaUniversity,NewYork,USADr.ElizabethWerner,PhD,isanAssistantProfessorofBehavioralMedicineintheDepartmentofObstetrics&Gynecology,ColumbiaUniversityIrvingMedicalCenterandservesastheSeniorDirectorofResearchOperationsandtheDirectorofClinicalInterventionResearchinthePerinatalPathwayslab.Dr.WerneristheLeadSupervisingClinicianinthePREPPprogram,aclinicalresearchtrialaimedatpreventingPostpartumDepression.Sheisalsothe

Nicaragua,Brazil)andtheMiddleEast(Palestine).TheseprojectsincludethedevelopmentofcomprehensiveandintegratedECDpoliciesandnationalimplementationplans,nationalfeasibilitystudiesforECDprogramimplementationatscale,andaninternationalcomparativestudyonthemechanismsofgovernanceandfinanceofECDinfourworldregions.Dr.Pongutaiscurrentlyworkingonthedevelopmentandevaluationofanovelschoolreadinessprogramtobuildcommunityyouthleaders’vocationalskillsasearlychildhoodeducatorsinruralPakistanandColombia.ShealsoparticipatedinarandomizedcontroltrialevaluatingaschoolreadinessandparentinginterventiontargetingmothersandchildrenlivinginPalestinianrefugeecampsandmarginalizedcommunitiesinBeirut.SheisanadvisortogroupsconductingrandomizedcontroltrialsandobservationalstudiesofparentingandschoolreadinessprogramsinBrazil,ColombiaandSaudiArabia.Sheisalsoleadingaglobalwhole-sectorcharacterizationofearlychildhooddevelopmentandeducationinhumanitariancrises.
