Speakers’BioAbbeySussellMPH,BJ,BANewYorkImmigrationCoalition,NewYork,USAMs.SusselistheNewYorkImmigrationCoalition(NYIC)'sPublicChargeFellow.ShecoordinatestheNYIC'sorganizationalresponseandpolicyprioritiesrelatedtoanewrulefromtheTrumpAdministrationthatwoulddramaticallyre-define"publiccharge,"andsubsequentlythreatenthelivesoflow-incomeimmigrantcommunities.PriortojoiningNYIC,Ms.SussellworkedfortheMayor'sPublicEngagementUnitandGetCoveredNYC.Shemanagedateamofoutreachspecialistsanddevelopedstrategiestoconnectlow-incomeandimmigrantcommunitieswithhealthcarebenefits.Shebringsherexperienceincommunityorganizing,publichealthandpublicbenefits,aswellasadedicationtofightingforimmigrantrights,toherwork.Ms.SussellreceivedaMasterofPublicHealth(MPH)fromColumbiaUniversity'sMailmanSchoolofPublicHealth,andaBachelorofJournalism(BJ)andBachelorofArts(BA)inSpanishLanguageandLiteraturefromtheUniversityofMissouri.

Ms.JacquelineLeducisanurbanplanner,specializedinhousingandsocialdevelopment,withtenyears’experienceinthesuburbsofParis.Fightingtoimprovepeople’sconditionsisoneofhercorebeliefs.Ms.Leducisseriouslycommittedtosocialcauses.Indeed,inparalleltoMMM,shevolunteerswithassociationslikeNewYorkCares,tohelppeopledirectly.ShegrewupinMexicoCityandlivedinParisfor16years.Doublecitizenshiphasaffordedherextensiveexposuretosocialrealitiesindifferentcountries.Fluentinthree

languages(Spanish,French,andEnglish),shecaninteractwithmanypeople.Ms.LeducreceivedaMasterofUrbanPlanning(MUP)fromtheInstitutd'UrbanismedeParisandaBachelorofPoliticalScience(BS)fromtheNationalAutonomousUniversityofMexico(UNAM).SheiscurrentlyagraduatestudentatHunterCollegeintheUrbanPolicyandLeadershipprogram.

BollyJeanKouassi,AideàlaJeunesseDéfavoriséeAfricaine(AJAD),Côted’Ivoire(video)Mr.KouassiholdsaMaster'sdegreeinEducationalSciencesandaDEAinEducationalPsychology.HeisagraduateoftheEcoleNormaleSupérieureofAbidjan.Duringhiscareer,hehasheldvariouspositionsintheadministration:Teacher,Trainer,InspectorofEducation,DirectorofUniversityResidences,AssistantDirectorattheMinistryofFightagainstAIDS.Involvedinthesocio-humanitarianfield,heistheFoundingPresidentoftheNGOAJAD.HeisalsoAdministratorofMakeMothersMatter(MMM).AJADisayouthsupportstructurespecializedinthefightagainstearlypregnancy.The

associationusescommunityandschoolawarenessasaworkingtooltochangethementalityofthoseinvolvedinthefieldofeducation.AJADactionconsistsindirectlyinvolvinglocalpopulationssothattheyparticipateinthedevelopmentprojectsthatinvolvedtheircommunitiesandcanbecomerealagentsofdevelopmentintheircountry.Itsapproachintegratesthefuturebeneficiariesoftheprojects,primarilywomen,throughthecreationofcommitteesofmotherswhoareresponsibleforimplementingtheseprojectsinthevillages.AJADissupportedbylocalauthoritiesandbenefitsfromnumerouscontactsattheinternationalandnationallevels,including:MakeMothersMatter,theMinistryofNationalEducationofCôted'Ivoire,theIvorianNationalCommissionforUNESCOandtheUNESCOOfficeinAbidjan.

ZenaGrimes,InternationalMovementATDFourthWorld,Brooklyn,USAMs.ZenaGrimeswasbornandraisedinBrooklyn,NewYork.Sheisasinglemotherwithelevenchildren.Ms.GrimeshasbeenanATDFourthWorldactivistforthirtyyears.ShehasspokenseveraltimesattheUnitedNations,includingfortheInternationalDayfortheEradicationofPovertyattheUnitedNationsin2015.Today,sheispartoftheteaminchargeofFourthWorldPeople'sUniversity,wherepeoplewithadirectexperienceofpoverty(activists),academics,andpractitionerscometogethertosharetheirknowledgeof

variousissuesrelatedtopovertyandhumanrights.

JohnGreenwood,HomesfortheHomeless,NewYork,USAMr.JohnGreenwoodisChiefOperatingOfficeratHomesfortheHomeless(HFH),overseeingallshelteroperationsandprogrammingforfamiliesexperiencinghomelessness.Mr.GreenwoodpreviouslyheldtherolesofDeputyAdministratoratProspectFamilyResidenceandAdministratorofWilliamsbridgeFamilyResidence,bothfamilyhomelesssheltersoperatedbyHFH,wherehemanagedalldailyoperationsandprogramming.HealsospentseveralyearsworkingattheNYCDepartmentofHomelessServices(DHS),where

heheldtherolesofChiefofStafftotheFirstDeputyCommissionerandExecutiveDirectorofPlanningandProcurementforFamilyCapacity.Mr.GreenwoodreceivedhisMaster’sinUrbanPlanningfromHunterCollegeandhasaBAinSociologyandPolicyfromSyracuseUniversity.

Dr.ElizabethWerner,ColumbiaUniversity,NewYork,USADr.ElizabethWerner,PhD,isanAssistantProfessorofBehavioralMedicineintheDepartmentofObstetrics&Gynecology,ColumbiaUniversityIrvingMedicalCenterandservesastheSeniorDirectorofResearchOperationsandtheDirectorofClinicalInterventionResearchinthePerinatalPathwayslab.Dr.WerneristheLeadSupervisingClinicianinthePREPPprogram,aclinicalresearchtrialaimedatpreventingPostpartumDepression.Sheisalsothe

Nicaragua,Brazil)andtheMiddleEast(Palestine).TheseprojectsincludethedevelopmentofcomprehensiveandintegratedECDpoliciesandnationalimplementationplans,nationalfeasibilitystudiesforECDprogramimplementationatscale,andaninternationalcomparativestudyonthemechanismsofgovernanceandfinanceofECDinfourworldregions.Dr.Pongutaiscurrentlyworkingonthedevelopmentandevaluationofanovelschoolreadinessprogramtobuildcommunityyouthleaders’vocationalskillsasearlychildhoodeducatorsinruralPakistanandColombia.ShealsoparticipatedinarandomizedcontroltrialevaluatingaschoolreadinessandparentinginterventiontargetingmothersandchildrenlivinginPalestinianrefugeecampsandmarginalizedcommunitiesinBeirut.SheisanadvisortogroupsconductingrandomizedcontroltrialsandobservationalstudiesofparentingandschoolreadinessprogramsinBrazil,ColombiaandSaudiArabia.Sheisalsoleadingaglobalwhole-sectorcharacterizationofearlychildhooddevelopmentandeducationinhumanitariancrises.

Marie-NoelleCouderc,LaMaisondeTomPouce,France(video)Ms.CouderchasbeentheDirectorof"LaMaisondeTomPouce"sincethecreationoftheassociationin1987.Atthetime,shewasaskedbyPrJérômeLejeuneandGenevièvePoullot,foundersoftheassociation,totakecareofthefirstwomenhostedinthehouse.Asasocialworker,sheworkedtodeveloptheassociation'swelcomingcapacitiesandincreaseitsrecognitionbypublicservicesandprivatepartners.Today,shestillmanagesthetwoshelters,whichemploynearly25employeesandwelcomemorethan80mothersormothers-to-beeachyear.Everydayoftheyearand24hoursaday,Ms.Coudercalsoanswersemergencycallsfromwomenindistress.

LaMaisondeTomPoucewelcomesunconditionallyanypregnantwomanornewmotherexcludedinrelationtomaternity.Morethan3000babieswerethusbornsincethecreationoftheassociation.

VanesaTreers,SoroptimistInternational,NewYork,USAMs.VanesaTreersisagenderequalityadvocateandaUNRepresentativeofSoroptimistInternational,anECOSOCaccreditedorganizationthatworkstobetterthelivesofwomenandgirlsworldwidethrougheducation,scholarships,leadershipprogramsandadvocacy.Ms.TreershasbeenactivelyinvolvedattheUNCommissionStatusofWomenandtheHighLevelPoliticalForumsince2015,supportingthewomen’smovement,UN-Women’sMajorGroupandtheAgenda2030.SheCo-ChairstheNGOCSWForumOrientation
