®ABOUT MATHCOUNTSMATHCOUNTS®, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, is a national enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement through grassroots involvement in every U.S. state and territory. It heightens student interest in mathematics by making math achievement challenging and exciting. It introduces students to STEM careers through contacts with engineers and other professionals who serve as volunteers. More than 17,000 volunteers participate annually to coach students and conduct competitions.

The Florida Engineering Society (FES) is proud to have sponsored Florida MATHCOUNTS® competition since it’s origination in 1983. In Florida, participating middle schools compete individually or as part of a team in one of nineteen FES Chapter MATHCOUNTS® Competitions held in February. FES Chapters in turn send their winning teams and individuals to the state competition held in Jacksonville, Florida in March. FES coordinates and hosts the State Competition where Mathletes® compete to advance to the National MATHCOUNTS® Competition. At the State Competition, FES awards top teams and individuals with trophies, scholarships, and cash. The top four individuals go on to represent Florida, all expenses paid, at the National Competition. This winning state team also participates in two FES-sponsored retreats in preparation for the national event. All of this would not be possible without the support of the generous FES sponsors and volunteers.
