Invitation to God’s Word

Call to Worship Pastor O magnify the Lord with me and let’s exalt God’s name together.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Church And also with you.

Pastor Love the Lord your God. Church We come with love and hope! Pastor Love your neighbors too. Church We come with loving hearts. Pastor Love even yourself. Church We come in humble trust. Pastor Love and you will live. Church We come to worship, that God’s love might live in us.

Prayer of Invitation

Hymn of Invitation Blest Be the Tie That Binds UMH 55

Prayer of Confession

God of abundant love, fill us with your joy. Sprinkle the tears that we have sown with your mercy and hope, that we may reap a harvest of joy. Forgive our fears and our worries. Instill trust within us, that we may truly rest in your arms and have faith in your gracious care. Forgive us when we are seduced by the accumulation of things for which we have no need. Forgive us when we dream of wealth and prestige and forget that the necessities of life are enough. Remind us of the abundance you offer as we proclaim today and forever: “God has done great things for us. Our tears are turned into joy!” God of abundant love, fill us with your joy. We pray in the forgiving name of Jesus. Amen.

Words of Assurance

Indeed, God has done great things for us. Through Christ, God’s love and grace are restored in our lives and we are made whole yet again. Praise to God!

Responding to God’s Word

Hymn of Commitment O Master, Let Me Walk With Thee UMH 430

1 O Master, let me walk with Thee in lowly paths of service free; tell me Thy secret; help me bear the strain of toil, the fret of care. 2 Help me the slow of heart to move by some clear, winning word of love; teach me the wayward feet to stay, and guide them in the homeward way. 3 Teach me Thy patience, still with Thee in closer, dearer company, in work that keeps faith sweet and strong, in trust that triumphs over wrong. 4 In hope that sends a shining ray far down the future's broad'ning way; in peace that only Thou canst give, with Thee, O Master, let me live.

Affirmation of Faith Apostle’s Creed Hymn 881

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Pastoral Prayers and The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Offertory Prayer

Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav'nly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Proclaiming God’s Word

Hymn of Proclamation This Is My Father’s World

Old Testament Reading Leviticus 19: 9-18 Responsive Reading Psalm 82 (Insert) New Testament Reading Romans 15: 1-6

Gospel Reading Luke 10: 25-37 Sermon “To the Others”

1 Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above. 2 Before our Father's throne we pour our ardent prayers; our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, our comforts and our cares. 3 We share our mutual woes, our mutual burdens bear, and often for each other flows the sympathizing tear.

4 When we are called to part, it gives us inward pain; but we shall still be joined in heart, and hope to meet again. 5 This glorious hope revives our courage by the way; while each in expectation lives and waits to see the day. 6 From sorrow, toil, and pain, and sin, we shall be free; and perfect love and friendship reign through all eternity.

1 This is my Father's world, And to my listening ears All nature sings, and round me rings The music of the spheres. This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas-- His hand the wonders wrought. 2 This is my Father's world: The birds their carols raise, The morning light, the lily white, Declare their Maker's praise. This is my Father's world: He shines in all that's fair; In the rustling grass I hear Him pass, He speaks to me everywhere.

3 This is my Father's world: O let me ne'er forget That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet. This is my Father's world: Why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King: let the heavens ring! God reigns; let earth be glad!
