General Guidelines for Parents when making any Payments to the school:
Preferred method of payment is BPay. Your BPay reference number can be located on your family statement and will remain the same throughout your child’s time at KPS. EFT/credit card facilities are available over the counter at the main office. Cash payments – correct money is required as there is not always access to change. Please do not send large amounts of cash with your child. Receipts will be issued through your child’s classroom. To help the office in finalising accounts, where possible, please lim it payments in the last week of any school term. Principal’s Message Enrolments 2021 Thank you to Kingsville families who responded to the enrolment alert in the newsletter
last week. We have had since then enrolments from families who had not completed the process for siblings to begin 2021. We also have had information from some families who are definitely or who are considering, moving out of Melbourne permanently or, for an unkwown period of time. Here at Kingsville this number is currently “small” however, I do know that in some schools in this area the number in this category is much larger and growing. This was predicted to be a posible occurance in the aftermarth of the circumstances specific to 2020. It is very important now that, if any families have decided to move out of the school community for 2020 that we are informed immediately. Foundation students and families 2021 I have recently communicated with the families of the 83 Foundation students enrolled to begin next year. Whilst there has been information provided to families during Semester 2, they of course have not been able to experience the usual transition to school process. Nearly 50% of these 83 students are siblings and therefore are members of families who are already a part of our school community. When however any child begins school whether they are part of a current or new family, it should be acknowledged as a special and exciting time which sees a focus on the individual child. I am pleased therefore to have been able to let parents know that a recent government decision will now allow for transition visits to the school. These are required to be small group visits with a maximum of 5 students at any one time into one classroom space only. The visits will be managed in line with the school Covid-19 Safety Management Plan. The 45 minute sessions will be an opportunity for the students to interact with each others, make social contacts and engage in a range of play-based learning actvities. There will also be a parent Webex information session and an incoming Foundation student “meet your classroom teacher” session provided. The transition schedule will continue with a range of information and resources being provided to families in November and December. Then beginning the 2021 year the traditional “picnic on the green” – school oval, will hopefully be able to be held. Foundation students 2020 A special mention at this stage of the year to our 81 resilient Foundation students who began their primary school life in February this year and of course they then encounted a very different experience during Term 2 and 3 . They are all back now engaged in onsite learning and getting ready to make the move like all other students to the next year level. This cohort of students which are scheduled to finish primary school in 2026 and secondary school in 2032 will be known across the state and the system, as whose who began their formal schooling in the year of Covid. They will be the ones to watch and it is predited they will be strong, adaptive and, resilient learners as they move forward in their journey. A roll call to keep in the family “history box” is documented in this newsletter. Parent Payments 2021 Please refer to the comprehensive information provided in the newsletter last week and note this change being - payment plans will be listed on the forthcoming Compass post and, the option of payment for 2021 now in 2020 will be provided.

Christmas Hamper Raffle For many years this has been a much awaited end of year experience. This year of course there have been significantly reduced opportunities to hold fundraising events. Therefore, we are hopeful of ensuring that our Christmas Raffle will be a huge success. To achieve this we need all KPS families to contribute so we can have a large number of hamper prices -
we are hoping to have 20 or more baskets to raffle off Please note:
there is now only under 4 weeks to donate as all items would need to be in by Wednesday 9th December, to allow volunteers time to work their magic with the wrapping
I know how generous Kingsville families are and, I am confident that many ‘hamper suitable’ items will be donated but please do not leave it too late

On Monday morning while Foundation teacher Luisa was out watering the trees in the quite play area, she noticed something a little out of place hiding in the garden… A baby Scared Kingfisher chick, now known as the Kingsville Fisher (named by 6SE). This species of Kingfisher is quite common in Australian and New Zealand and likes to feast on small fish, insects, and spiders. Normally found in wetlands, forests, river valleys and mangroves, it is anyone’s guess how he ended up at Kingsville Primary. After traveling a long way from home the little kingfisher was a little dehydrated and tired, so was taken to our local vet to recover so he could find his way home again.
