WHO SHOULD ATTEND
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Dr. Peter Rupert is the professor of economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and executive director of the UCSB Economic Forecast Project, a research unit providing economic data, analysis, and forecasts to the community. Dr. Rupert came to Santa Barbara from the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, where he had been a senior economic adviser for 13 years. His areas of specialization include macroeconomics, monetary economics, labor, and family economics. Dr. Rupert frequently consults with central banks and is an invited speaker at economic conferences at universities and organizations around the world.
Lee Wetherington, AAP, is director of strategic insight for Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. where he directs the development of actionable insight and strategy for the financial services industry at large. To this end, he creates programs, presentations, and articles designed to orient and educate financial executives on the trends and implications of new technologies. Lee routinely delivers keynotes nationwide focusing upon opportunities and challenges in fintech, payments, and the online/mobile/social channels, and he is widely renowned for his unique style of comedic delivery.
In this inspiring keynote, John O’ Leary shares his story of survival after having 100% of his body burned in a household fire. Given less than one percent chance of survival, John is proof of the power of the human spirit. Experience John’s gift of combining emotional storytelling with unexpected humor, as he reminds audiences of the significance of daily attitudes, the power of gratitude, and the impact of serving others with courage. He reawakens audiences to realize the gift of today and the possibility of tomorrow and how to tie this into your organization’s succession plan.
Rob Nichols is the president and CEO of the American Bankers Association, which represents banks of all sizes and charters and is the voice for the nation’s $18 trillion banking industry. Rob joined ABA in August 2015 following ten years at the helm of the Financial Services Forum, a non-partisan financial and economic policy organization. Before joining the Forum, he served in the George W. Bush administration as the assistant secretary for public affairs at the Treasury Department, a position requiring confirmation by the United States Senate. Rob is a recipient of the Alexander Hamilton Award, the highest honor of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Mike Abrashoff is at the center of one of the most remarkable modern-day stories of organizational transformation. At 36, he was selected to be Commander of USS Benfold and was the most junior commanding officer in the Pacific fleet. The challenges of this underachieving destroyer were staggering, with low morale and the highest turnover rate in the Navy. Twelve months later, it was ranked number one in performance while using the same crew. How did Mike do it? By replacing command and control leadership with commitment and cohesion. The lesson was clear: Leadership matters, and culture is everything.
