• Monthly 1:1 coaching calls
–Calls will be between 30 and 45 minutes in length and will be
scheduled based on participant availability.
• Monthly “buddy group” calls
–Participant-led conference calls to be scheduled based on small
group availability.
• Assignments & readings
–Participants will be assigned readings and small writing
assignments to explore leadership growth and application of
strategies to address health equity.
• Facebook Group
–Participants will be added to a Facebook Group for sharing
program-related news, training/webinar opportunities and
reading materials.

Participant Profile
We seek highly motivated individuals looking to
expand their leadership skills and knowledge to advance health equity
among people with mental health and substance use
disorders.
Applicants should be considered a “mid-level manager” within a community-based mental health and addiction prevention, treatment, treatment, recovery OR health care organization.
• “Mid-level manager” is defined as being an intermediate supervisor with direct reports and reporting to others within the organization.
• Applicants do not need to be clinicians but must be able to directly influence practices to advance health equity within their organizations and communities they serve.
This program is only offered to individuals from National Council member organizations.

How to Apply
Application deadline:

• Apply online
–We encourage applicants to begin early and take care in writing their responses.
• Applications are peer-reviewed by alumni of the program and a review committee of National Council staff.
• Selected applicants will be notified by late February 2020 prior to the Program Orientation Webinar
How to Apply
Complete applications are required to include:
1. A Letter of Commitment signed by the applicant, the applicant’s supervisor and CEO.
2. A five-minute YouTube video OR a 750-word response to a series of questions.
3. A 1-page resume.
4. A professional headshot/picture.
5. Organizational chart.

AHD Leadership Program 2019 Update
• 170 alumni from 39 states over 8 cohorts
• From a recent alumni follow-up survey:
• 93% of alumni still work in the behavioral health field
• 100% of alumni said their participation in AHD impacted their efforts to address health inequities
• 83% of alumni have changed positions, many of whom are now in C-suite roles including:
• Chief Executive Officer
• Chief Operating Officer
• Chief Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Officer
• Chair of Cultural Competency & Diversity
• Cohort 9 launching in winter 2020 with curriculum quality updates, such as:
