Wow what a cool boy. Driftwood, Joe Reed II and Sugar Bars genetics. Also Kristy Stovall was South Dakota Pole Bending Champion several years in a row. This boy is a great grandson of Big As I am, the sire of Cody Ohl and Tuf Coopers calf roping horses. All Stirrup branded foals are eligible for the AQHA Heritage Challenges Please watch Facebook Stirrup Ranch QH for current photos and photos of sire and dam. Please visit or phone calls with questions are welcome. 605.347.8120 or 605.490.1622 or email us at [email protected]
Scoob, stands out from a crowd, he likes to show off. He is out of our junior stallion- PR Zans Lil Gunner: aka “Snoopy”. A 2014, Palomino bred by Pieper Quarter Horses in Nebraska- with a pedigree that includes Playguns, Smart Little Lena and Zan Par Bar. You can turn him out for a rest, bring him back in, saddle up and he’s ready for his job or to learn some more. “Scoopy” has a laid back, loyal, and willing personality and his babies are proving to be the same. We wish we would of kept more mare out of Toughy. It is exciting to see his daughters as mamas. This colt is curious, thick muscled, with strong feet/legs and a cute little head. He will do well in the performance arena or on the ranch. “Scoob” is a true red dun with a bright red dorsal down his back and transversal stripes on withers and neck. He’s eligible for the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges.

We call this colt “Baby Boon”, he is a spitting image in every way to his Daddy, JS Pure Seduction, (Boon). He has Smart Little Lena, Peptoboonsmal AND Docs Lynxright on his papers! He will be double registered AQHA/APHA as he has white all up his legs; a spot on his belly and look at his face!! He is FANCY!! He is cow bred top and bottom, his Dam has produced versatility Champions, Halter Futurity Champions, and High Selling Gelding at other sales, this mare is a producer. With this pedigree, and his looks, this colt is a showstopper, don’t miss him!! Coggins tested.
Jozie came from the Rafter Box Ranch- Jim & Joni Hunt program & she is a favorite. She produced a really nice bay filly. Eligible for the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges.
Chick is a super minded and disposition filly, with a beautiful head and hip. She is by our daughter of Shiny Blue Boon DR and our new sire Champ, a son of Once In A Blue Boon. Winner of $320,000 in NCHA futurity champion and 2019 NCHA futurity reserve champion and new million-dollar sire. This flashy filly is a sweat heart and will ride and perform and sure eat up a cow.

We are very pleased to offer this gorgeous “opportunity” – just an outstanding filly! She’s straight & bal-anced, feminine, has that awesome color & she is intelligent. The whole package! She will be great in any discipline you train her for and with her class, ability & looks she’ll be a KNOCKOUT!! It looks as though she will shed to be chocolate palomino, as her brother did last year. This filly is the “keeping kind” – a beautiful package with a bright future. We almost kept this Grulla stallion; Curt has a full brother who is smart & athletic. We’ve had to make deep cuts to the herd this summer. Eligible for the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges.
Lilly is a sweet well put together filly with a kind eye, quick feet and super disposition. She is cow breed top and bottom. She should work a cow and look good doing it. She is by Champ, our new sire who is son of Once In A Blu Boon. Winner of $320,000 in NCHA and sire to 2019 NRCHA champion and 2019 NCHA reserve champion and how a new million dollar sire in only a few years.
This filly is classy, loves to show off and is our only offering out of our senior stallion: Zanadunn Bonanza, a red dun Zan Parr Bar, Blondy’s Dude & Coy’s Bonanza bred stallion. He’s one of the ranch’s favorite mounts; ranch raised and loves his job- ranch work: dragging calves at branding, sorting/doctoring cattle, driving cattle and checking wells. When we need an extra mount– he’s one you can pull out of the mares and saddle up. I purchased her dam; an American Paint Breeding Stock mare from Bar M Quarter Horses; she is an Only One Scotch daughter. “Aurora” is a gorgeous red dun with the traditional red dorsal and tiger bar markings. Stop by and meet her! Woodworth Ranch colts are eligible for the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges. Watch our facebook page; Woodworth Ranch for current photos and photos of sire and dam.

We haven’t decided this filly’s color yet. Foxy is Kee’s old rodeo horse, probably still the fastest mare on the place at 20!! This maybe her last foal- she is close to retirement. Exited to see where this cross leads. Kee owns her oldest filly and she can do it all at 5 years old. Watch for her updates on website: vlwranch.com or Facebook page: VLW Ranch.
Shiny is a little smaller because momma didn’t milk as well, but look he is so correct and has the popular color, he should be the sleeper of the sale. I purchased this colt’s sire: PR Zans Lil Gunner with the intent of using him on some of our bay mares with hopes of getting some more color. His sire, aka “Snoopy” is a 2014 Palomino bred by Pieper Quarter Horses in Nebraska- with a pedigree that includes Playgun, Smart Little Lena and Zan Par Barr. You can turn him out for a rest, bring him back in, saddle up and he’s ready for his job or to learn some more. “Snoopy” has a laid back, loyal, and willing personality and his babies are proving to be the same. His Dam is a “Shinning Spark” grand-daughter, with Zan Parr Bar, Poco Bueno and Peppy San among her pedigree; she is a beauti-ful heavy boned, blood Bay with a sweet personality. This guy brings together some great ranch horse and performance horse bloodlines. Woodworth Ranch colts are eligible for the Ranching Heritage Challenges.

We had originally planned on keeping this filly; but being short on hay- we have decided to sell her. Cross-ing “Cutch” with this Peppy San/Leo, Poco Tivio/Poco Bueno, Doc Bar, Coys Bonanza, Jaguar & Leo bred mare gave us a thick bodied/muscled filly, with a cute head, short back and she’s quick on her feet. Her sire stamped her with bone, more muscle, balance & strong feet/legs. “Lucky Old Sol” is a Sugar Bars and Queen’s Dividend bred stallion—bred for speed and cow-horse. The decision to sell “Nala” was not an easy decision, All Woodworth Ranch foals are eligible for the AQHA Heritage Challenges. Watch our facebook page; Woodworth Ranch for current photos and photos of sire and dam.
So how many of you that were here last year remember that stunning High Selling Colt that sold for more than the Wild Card even?? Bay with 4 socks and a big blaze, dripping with muscle, class and flash? Well here is his FULL BROTHER! Only difference here is this colt is younger than most of the colts here, and still bigger than many, this colt got the sorrel flash instead of bay!! This colt is really ALL THAT!! Look at the mus-cle definition and style this colt has, he is just everything we wan to raise in our program. I am definitely proud of this baby, he is going to win anywhere you go. Here’s your chance! Coggins tested.

Lena’s red dun filly is fancy & friendly! Will be smooth and athletic. Eligible for the AQHA Ranching Heritage Challenges .
Check out this black and beautiful all around super star in the making. He has what it takes to get you to the pay window. A super minded and athletic colt. He is by Champ, our new sire who is a son of Once In A Blu Boon. Winner of $320,000 in NCHA sire to 2019 NRCHA champion and 2019 NCHA reserve champion and now a new million dollar sire in only a few years.
If you want a filly that will be quick & easy to train, this roan is your choice! Her mom was reserve at the State 4-H Horse Show in reining as a 5 yr. old. A 5 yr. old out of this mare is Taya’s current breakaway horse & will be goat tying soon. We also kept back a 2 yr. old for a stallion prospect since we are so keen on “Sonja’s” babies. The reining & Cow horse cross with runhas proven effective in all disciplines on our place.

Young Again
When I think back on the Spring of my life, the whole world was bright, fresh, and clear.
Like waiting all Winter for a new crop of colts.. the promise, the future, each year.
Funny how time rolls seasons along as we’re trying to make dreams come true.
One thing stays constant—every Spring fresh colts make old dreams seem new.
They grow up too fast, season don’t last, Winter seems to loom near.
My favorite time is still early Spring… I’m young when colts reappear.

A Look Inside
Volume 30 Number 8 • June 23, 2018
Concentrating on the ride ahead, a lit-
tle girl checks to make sure her helmet is
secure and her protective vest is on tight
before tightening her bull rope. Once she is
ready, the gate flies open and the six second
ride begins.
Holding on tight to the bull rope with
one hand, while her other hand is high in
the air, the girl rides the bucking calf every-
where it goes, listening for the buzzer.
Once she hears it, she lets go of the bull
rope and goes crashing to the ground, feel-
ing a sense of pride for completing her ride.
When Gene Jolly, of Stratton, Neb.,
started the Southwest Nebraska Mutton
Bustin’ for kids, it was just for the pure
enjoyment of giving children an opportu-
nity to compete in rodeo.
Jolly finds enjoyment in creating events for kidsSummer COUNTY FAIR Series
Competitive events
Six years ago, Jolly started taking his
own ewes to rodeos and fairs, holding mut-
ton bustin’ events where kids would grab
the ewe around the neck and try to ride
them any way they could.
After talking with some cousins with
a similar event in Missouri, Jolly found a
more organized and competitive way to put
on the event. Jolly’s form of mutton bustin’
is similar to bull riding. The kids have to set
up on the sheep in a bucking chute, like a
bull rider would sit on a bull. The kids use a
bull rope, hold one hand in the air and ride
like a bull rider when the chute gate opens.
They have to ride the ewe for six sec-
onds, and judges give them a score based
More Tariffs
President Donald Trump
on June 18 upped the ante of
trade tariffs with China by ask-
ing the U.S. Trade Represen-
tative to identify another $200
billion in Chinese goods that
could be subject to a 10% tar-
iff hike. Trump announced the
decision in response to China,
which detailed $50 billion in
U.S. products subject to a 25%
import tariff, including several
major agricultural commod-
ities such as soybeans, pork
and other products, including
non-agricultural goods.
Farm Bill On June 21, the House of
Representatives passed a farm
bill that bolsters farm subsidies
and foreign trade and includes
stricter work requirements for
food stamp recipients. The bill
passed 213-211. The legisla-
tion also directs USDA to re-
evaluate school lunch nutri-
tion standards adopted under
the Obama administration
and expands who qualifies

to the article.
Bee Viruses
An international team
of researchers discovered
evidence of 27 previously
unknown viruses in bees. The
finding could help scientists
design strategies to prevent
the spread of viral pathogens
among these important polli-
nators. The team also found
some of the viruses exist in
multiple bee species suggest-
ing these viruses may freely
circulate within different bee
populations.

A federal district court
in Georgia slapped a prelim-
inary injunction on the 2015
Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS)

implementation of the rule in
11 states. The order for injunc-
tion handed down by the U.S.

NCBA targets fake beef as

Fake meat, which includes
both plant-based products and
lab-grown meat, according to
the National Cattlemen’s Beef
Association (NCBA), poses a
threat to the beef industry, and
NCBA Director of Govern-

notes, “We’ve seen an evo-

evolve to burgers that bleed
and sizzle like real meat.”
“They are no longer tar-

“A lot of the marketing these
companies use is disparaging

specifically beef. Beyond that,
their labeling is misleading.”
Plant-based products
Among some of the con-

companies producing imita-

As an example, Beyond

Casper – In the College National Finals Rodeo’s 20th year in
Casper, a pair of Wyoming team ropers took home a national
championship. Trey Yates of Casper College and Kellan John-
son of Gillette College also marked the fastest time of the week
in team roping, only 5.2 seconds, in the short go to clinch the
win. Going into the round, however, Johnson and Yates sat in
third place, trailing first by nearly five seconds. The pair took
13th in the first go with 11.4 seconds, eighth in the second go with
a time of 7.1 seconds and sixth in the third go with 6.3 seconds
before the final round on June 16.
“We were excited, and we did our jobs to come back in the
short go,” Johnson said prior to the final round. “The best teams
show at CNFR.”
“We were behind far enough that we just had to make a good
run and see what happened,” Yates told KTWO News after the
win. “We couldn’t put pressure on any teams. All we could do
was what we could and see what happened after that.”
Johnson continued, “We did exactly what we needed to do.

Across the state of Wyoming this June, the occurrence
of severe weather events has been prominent in the news
and on social media, and Rob Cox, meteorologist with the
National Weather Service in Cheyenne, says, “This year,
we’ve seen a lot more weather systems come through that
have impacted Wyoming. These are slow-moving sys-
tems have caused prolonged thunderstorms, which is a bit
abnormal.”
Cox continued that typically, Wyoming expects to
see active thunderstorms, hail and possible tornados from
mid-May through June, and this year’s pattern has been
unusual. “Right now, we still expect to have active weather
events early into next week,” Cox explains. “We are in a
typical La Niña pattern generally, but normally, we don’t
see La Niña impact the summer weather picture as much
as it does our winter and spring weather.”
During severe weather situations, particularly torna-
does, Cox encourages Wyomingites to stay aware of any
weather announcements.
“Keep a close eye and listen to the messaging pro-
vided by National Weather Service or other entities,” Cox
says. “It’s best to stay aware and be prepared to take shel-
ter in a hurry, if necessary.”

latest information on storms across the state.

Silky is out of the heart of our breeding program. She is a full sister to Ross Johnson’s teamroping horse, Hawk; he sold for$14,500 at the Pitzer Ranch Sale in 2011. Eric rode Silky formany years before using her as a broodmare. He said she had a really big motor. She does havea scar on her left front leg above her hoof. The prior injury does not effect her and she has nosoundness issues. She’s been a good producer; we have had to make some really painful cuts tothe herd. She is ultra-sounded in foal to Smart and Royal, a 2007 Sugar Bars bred dun stallion.
We are offering a piece of our breeding program! This nice big black bred mare is easy to handle & quiet with a lot of talent. We put 30 days on her before she had the misfortune of injuring her leg so we bred her. She can run in big pastures in the herd or she is good alone. She is a good breeder – hand breed or pasture breed. She is ultra sounded safe in foal to our cremello stallion; Hes busy Shining so will have either buckskin or a smokey black baby in May 2021. Her pedigree represents the very best genetics that we have has the privilege to breed into our herd over the years champion after champion on both sides of her papers. Up to date on worming and trimming. . www.haightranch.com for photos & info. Coggins tested. USA Vet. Inspected.
We call her Tae; this is a big, classy dark chestnut mare that possesses the maternal bloodlines of our best producing broodmares. This mare is young, gentle, liver chestnut and she is BRED! She is the ONLY filly by Sierras Superstar to have been offered for sale, and it is only because we have several now that we feel are quality broodmares that we have in our broodmare band. This Sierra Te Granddaughter crossed back on JS Pure Seduction is a magic cross that you can see in a couple of our weanling consignments. This cross is amazing, and this is your change to have one, she is ultra-sounded in foal and sells with a live foal guarantee. How can you go wrong here? Coggins tested .

“Sugar” is a 9-year-old mare in foal to Cats Emoji (High Brown Cat x Badgers Playdough) stud in 2021. That cross should produce a really nice foal. She is super sweet and willing with great conformation. She is broke to ride and was used on the ranch but would really make an excellent addition to someone’s breed-ing program. Is not overly “mare-ish” and gets along with other mares and geldings just fine.
Freckles is a pretty little chestnut mare that I bought from Raftery’s program in Montana as a yearling to ride, as I love her pedigree and look. BUT she missed getting broke as a 2 and 3 year-old, so we bred her. And guess what? She is the ONLY mare being offered for sale bred to our new son of Metallic Cat, Matalic Shine! You could be the first person to have a “Shine” baby!! This mare is perfect addition to a proven broodmare band, or she can help put your program on the map. We are offering someone an outstanding opportunity, jump on it! Vet checked in foal; she carries a live foal guarantee. Coggins tested. Pictured at 2 yrs. of age.

SQHR Hot Pepper Ace is a solid and gentle six-year-old gelding. He has had a lot of ranch miles ridden on him. He’s seen all aspects of ranch life from a large/calf operation. “Shorty” has had a lot of cattle roped off him outside, doctored yearlings and been to a few brandings. He’s been turned out to grass for months over the winter and will ride off with no trouble in the spring. Shorty also has great arena potential on the heeling end or as a breakaway/calf horse. With his age, he can go anyone in the family. Video available at https://youtu.be/1aYA4Z VCVU or search SQHR Hot Pepper Ace on youtube.com FMI Clay Ashurst 720.320.3398.

Ranger is an exceptional gelding with color and flash. In his short saddle horse career, he has been ex-posed to very different terrain: such as lava rock and sand desert, sagebrush hills and steep timber. He has been used to check fence & pack supplies, gather & sort pairs and move cows to different fields. He shows great potential in any direction you would like to take him.
Jack is a very cute and well-built gelding. He has been rode miles and miles outside. He is very quiet and not much bothers him. Jack has been used to doctor and has been to brandings. I’ve also roped the dummy with him. He has a great start on the ranch and has tons of potential ahead of him. I hauled Jack to Arizona with me last winter and rode him out in the desert. He handles everything I throw at him extremely well. Jack is the perfect gelding to get the ranch work done and to have fun with on the weekends.
A correct & handsome gelding – A great “go-to” horse. He is very willing and takes his job seriously. Our trainer says about him “what I like about him is that he is consistent, tries hard and has “no silly” in him. The saddle fits him well, he has good legs and feet and he travels nice with his neck level. He has every-thing it takes to be an OUTSTANDING gelding in or out of the arena”. 15:2HH – he’s big enough to do any job. He is started in the box and has what it takes to be a great Head Horse. No vices. He’s quick & picks up his leads easily – he has a big engine that he keeps under the hood – he’s tremendous with talent galore! Started in the box. UTD on worming & shots. Easy to catch, shoe, clip and load! Comes to the sale shod. www.haightranch.com for more info. Coggins tested. USA Vet. Inspected.

“Bob Lee” is a handy sized young gelding that is about as user friendly as they come. He’s got a laid-back mentality but will do his job with ambition if asked. His quiet way of moving allows you to prowl through a group of pairs and not have to worry about getting the mama cows worried. If one needs doctored, Bob Lee will be a big help in getting one roped and tied down. He’s got a real nice start-heeling steer and has great potential to ne a nice rope horse. Always willing to be caught, bob Lee is the kind that you can count on to be ready when you need to just saddle up and ride off. 15 hands, 1,100 pounds.
“Poncho” has loads of potential to be just about anything you need, with a great start that will go any direction! This young horse has his whole life ahead of him with quietness and ability to handle what you throw at him. His papers just ass to that! Catalena Boy has produced some awesome ranch horses with cow and athleticism, and not to mention Colonel Freckles right on this papers as well! He should mature out around 15.2 and be a well-built sucker. Poncho will have been exposed to lots of miles and ranch work before sale day. He loads, bathes, trims and will have a fresh set of shoes on before sale day. For mare info call (406) 720.0734.
Elliott is a big smooth riding gelding. We bought him as a 2 year old from the ranch that raised him. Used to do all the big country ranch work. Goes where you point him and easy to ride. Nice, gentle, young gelding. 1150#. 15.2 hands.

“Abby” is an amazing 3 year old. Taya has done all the training on this filly. She is quiet and easy going but has the athletic ability and breeding to succeed in the arena. Has been used in hills checking cows, trail riding and loping nice set of barrels. Taya has tried to convince us she needs another rodeo horse, but was purchased with intentions to train and sell to fund her rodeo fees. She plans to show her in the futurity on Saturday (if her volleyball schedule allows). Several pictures and videos on Facebook sight: VLWRanch or on website: vlwranch.com
Snappy has been stated correctly, he has a good foundation and is ready to go any direction you want to take him. We have used him to gather yearlings and drag calves to the fire. He is 14.2 with a big stop. Gentle, kind and willing.
Gorgeous 16.3 hand red roan gelding, High Rolling Roany/ Doc Bar breeding. Gentle giant. Been used by all levels of riders. Super cowy, athletic and a smooth fluid mover. This great gelding has been used exten-sively for all phases of ranch work and is my go to horse for starting colts. He does reining patterns, flying leads; dragging calves to the branding fire ect. I have used him to pony racehorses, carry flags in PRCA ro-deos, ranch horse competitions, sale barn and ranch rodeos. You would look long and nard to find this big of a gelding that is such a great mover and so gentle as well as a super mind. He is nicely put together with a beautiful head! In spite of old scars on his legs from his youth this horse is sound physically and mentally.
