Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology, GIMT, Guwahati, was founded on 7th September, 2006 under the aegis of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy as the first non-government engineering institute in the North East India. The Institute has due approvals from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and the necessary permission from the Government of Assam.

GIMT was started with the affiliation from Gauhati University in 2006 and continued under Gauhati Uni-versity till 2012. Since 2013, it has been affiliated to “Assam Science and Technology University”, Guwahati.GIMT is located at Azara on the National Highway No. 37 and just 5 km from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and 16 km from Guwahati Railway Station. b) Admission of Diploma Holders into 2nd Year (3rd Semester) of any of the 4 Year B.Tech programme, the candidate:

(i) Must pass the Diploma in Engineering in the relevant branch with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates fulfilling these conditions would only be eligible for appearing inthe entrance test meant for lateral entry to degree programmes. The selection of candidates will be based on per-formance of the entrance test.(ii) Must be mentally and physically fit and must possess a good moral character.

M.TECH PROGRAMME

Eligibility Criteria:

To seek admission into the M. Tech Programme, the candidate:

(a) Must pass the Bachelor’s degree (B.E /B.Tech) or equivalent in Engineering or relevant field. Must secure at least 50% marks (45% for SC & ST candidates) in the qualifying examination.

B.C.A PROGRAMMEEligibility Criteria:

(a) To be eligible for admission into 1st year BCA Course, the candidate:

(i) Must have passed 10+2 examination in Science / Arts / Commerce with a minimum of 45% in aggregate (40% for reserved category) preferably with Computer Science/Mathematics as a subject in 10+2.

(ii) Must have completed Diploma in CSE/IT from AICTE recognized Institute.

B.TECH PROGRAMME Eligibility Criteria:

(a) Admission into 4 Year B.Tech Programme, the candidate:

(i) Must pass the Higher Secondary (HS) examination of the AHSEC or any equivalent examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the subjects, in one seating. He/She must secure at least 45% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (40% for SC & ST candidates).

(ii) Must not be more than 21 years or not less than 17 years of age as on 1st August, 2020. The Upper age limit is relaxable to 22 years in case of B.Sc. passed candidates. For SC/ST candidates the upper age limit may be relaxed by 3 years.

(iii) Must be mentally and physically fit and must possess a good moral character.

M.B.A. PROGRAMME Eligibility Criteria: (a) To be eligible for admission into MBA Programme, the candidate: Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree from an Indian/ Foreign University (recognised by UGC/AIU), securing not less than 50% in major subject or in aggregate of the total marks for General Category candidates and not less than 45% in major or in aggregate of the total marks for SC/ST/OBC/other Reserved Category candidates.

(a) To be eligible for admission into 1st year MCA Programme, the candidate:

(i) Must pass the Bachelor’s degree (10 + 2 + 3) with a minimum of 50 % (45 % for SC /ST/OBC candidates) marks in aggregate or in Honours/Major subject (if any) from any recognized University.(ii) Must have Mathematics as a subject in HS (10 + 2).(iii) A student waiting for declaration of the result for his/her Bachelor’s degree examina-tion may also seek provisional admission.However,such a student must sign an undertaking stating that his/ her provisional admission is conditional and subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria for admission stated above.

(b) To be eligible for admission into 2nd year (lateral entry) MCA Programme, the candidate

(i)Must pass the B.Sc (Computer Science /IT)/ BCA with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ ST/OBC candidates) marks in aggregate from any University.(ii) Must have mathematics as a subject in H.S. (10+2 ).
