Our organization is all about getting out and enjoying life. Once a month we hold a luncheon featuring a home-cooked style meal which is normally followed by a guest speaker on a topic of interest to our members. Those attending are asked to pre-book and purchase a ticket; we have between 65-95 members joining us regularly. Bus trips to local places and events are popular. Summer trips provide the opportunity to get out of the city. Thursday morning’s art class has a loyal following while fitness classes attract those who want to get or stay in shape but don’t like working out alone. Monday and Thursday social afternoons offer something for everyone, so drop by for a game of pickle ball; play cards, Mahjongg and board games; shoot pool; or just share in an entertaining conversation over a cup of tea or coffee. Special presentations have featured health topics, travel, computer training, as well as mature driving.

PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES Monday to Friday from September to June we offer a variety of recreational & fitness activities, outings & bus trips, seminars & workshops as well as social afternoons. In July and August, we operate on a reduced schedule but plan outings to events such as Goldeyes baseball games, Rainbow Stage, Assiniboine Park Zoo, and out-of-town motor coach trips. Specific details are outlined in our Fall, Winter and Spring Program Guides which can be downloaded from our website at archwood55plusinc.weebly.com or pick up a print copy from our office. We do our best to keep participation costs for activities and events in line with seniors’ budgets and most special presentations are either free or at a nominal charge.

OH THE PLACES YOU’LL GO … Dr. Seuss Many members enjoy travelling with us. We handle the planning and itinerary; all you do is sit back, relax and enjoy the view while our chartered bus takes you on a grand day trip or longer multi-day excursion. Here are some of the memorable tours we’ve taken in past years: Austin; Clear Lake; Duluth, MN; Gimli; Grand Forks, ND; Iberville Hutterite Colony; International Peace Gardens; Killarney; Lake of the Woods Cruise, Kenora; Manitou Honey, Garlic & Maple Syrup Festival; Mennonite Heritage Village, Steinbach; Morden Corn & Apple Festival; Neepawa Lily Festival; Prairie Dog Central Train Ride; RCMP Heritage Centre, Regina; Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, Brandon; St. Claude Dairy Museum, Gaol & Catholic Church designed by Etienne Gaboury; St-Pierre-Jolys Sugaring Off Festival; and, Temple Gardens Mineral Spa, Moose Jaw!

Fall/Fowl Suppers… we annually travel to rural Manitoba to enjoy harvest meals in communities such as: Grosse Isle, Pansy, and St. Joseph.
