At Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center, we’re eagerly looking forward to our 49th year of summer programming. Please take a moment to browse through this booklet to learn more about our wide variety of summer programs. We take pride in providing a safe environment for learning, making new friends, and building confidence. Each camp is staffed with a combination of certified teachers and enthusiastic junior counselors; it’s their job to make sure each camper has a positive, unforgettable experience. We believe every child should have the opportunity to enjoy summer camp, and we offer financial assistance for those in need.

Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center sits on 24 wooded acres at the headwaters of the Severn River in Millersville, a perfect location for teaching environmental stewardship in the outdoors. It’s owned and operated year-round by Anne Arundel County Public Schools and is home to the Office of Environmental Literacy and Outdoor Education.

I’ll be happy to answer any general questions about the program, so please don’t hesitate to give me a call at 410-222-3822. We hope to see you this summer!

High Adventure Camp is a seven day, six night overnight backpacking trip for adventurous campers seeking to explore the natural world in a wilderness setting. Campers will spend the first day and night at Arlington Echo, learning all skills neces-sary for backcountry camping. Then we’ll board a bus and head to the trailhead to start our adventure in the wilderness! We’ll climb mountains, explore valleys, sleep un-der the stars, and splash through streams while making friendships and memories to last a lifetime.

By its nature, backpacking is a physically strenuous activity. Campers will be required to carry between 15–25 lbs. of gear and hike rugged terrain — sometimes steep — for up to six miles daily. If you have any questions or concerns about whether High Adventure Camp is right for your camper, please don’t hesitate to call the number below.

Note on the difference between sessions: Level 1 is perfect for anyone! Campers with no camping or hiking experience and returning High Adventure Campers are welcome. Level 2 offers a more intensive backcountry experience for campers who have completed at least one previous week of High Adventure Camp.

Cost$700 includes meals, accommodations, activities, instructional materials and trans-portation to and from campsites.

A $350 deposit must be included with the application. The $350 remaining balance is due upon the acceptance of camp.
