PRINCIPAL NOTES – Kitty Logan
This week marks Music in Our Schools. Do you have
a musical talent to share with our students? Please
contact Mrs. Harry. [email protected]
5th and 6th grades will be taking PEAKS on
Tuesday/Wednesday, March 26/27.
Our own TA, Marie Pelton will be honored on
Tuesday evening at the Excellence in Education
Banquet out at the Chugiak Senior Center. Mrs. Pelton
is our choice for this well-deserved award.
Friday is what I call, “Big Doings” at EACS. First, the
Alaska Department of Education and Early
Development will be reviewing our Charter
Application at 9:45. We have a musical at the
Community Covenant Church at 5:00 p.m., followed
by the Science Fair Finale at 6:00. PTO is providing
dinner so everyone can attend. How nice is that?
There is a calendar change in April. The Early Release
will take place on Friday, April 26 at NOON.
Did you know?:
2019 PEAKS State Assessment Reach new PEAKS of learning!
Each spring, Alaskan students are provided an opportunity to show what they know. When students show what they know, teachers and parents can partner to promote student success. The Performance Evaluation for Alaska’s Schools (PEAKS) is Alaska’s summative assessment administered to
students in Grades 3-9 (English language arts and mathematics) and grades 4, 8 and 10 (science) each spring. The purpose of a large-scale, summative assessment is to provide parents and schools an overall picture of a student’s progress in meeting the Alaska standards at his/her grade level. The assessment is taken on the computer and is not timed, but each content area takes approximately 100-180 minutes.
Parents can locate resources for the PEAKS assessment, including directions for PEAKS Practice tests, called Online Tools Training and PEAKS Tutorials on the ASD website at www.asdk12.org/PEAKS. Parents can also help by ensuring their children are well rested, eat a nutritious breakfast, and are at school on time for the days of testing. Please avoid scheduling appointments on your child’s testing days.

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS – Molly Deming
This is the last week for Pennies for Patients! Our
school goal is $1500. You can set up a donation page
online at https://events.lls.org/pages/wa/Eagle-

Students who have collected change/bills can bring it
into school and put it into their classroom collection
boxes. If each student collects just $8.50 we will reach
our goal!
On Wednesday, we will be doing a “Check Your
Change” drive at pick up time. Student Council
members will be out with collection bins to ask for the
spare change from your cup holders, dashboards and
glove boxes. Be prepared by throwing a couple
quarters in your cup holder ;)

have Mad Scientist Day on Friday, March 29th. Find

(orange and white baskets) to trees before the
