Fireside Chat: Women in Procurement
Keynote session with GEP and SIG
Please join the President and Co-Founder of GEP, Neha Desai Shah, and the President and
Chief Executive Officer of SIG, Dawn Tiura, in this fireside chat. They will discuss their own
experiences in the sourcing industry as they charted their way to company presidencies. You
will hear about current efforts to increase the profiles of women in sourcing and how these
women recommend companies better support women in operational and leadership roles.
Pursuing Elite: The Five Gifts of Elite Achievers
Keynote session with Clint Bruce. Former Navy Seal.
In any endeavor you can only have one of five outcomes: bad, average, good, excellent,
and elite. If the endeavor is your passion or profession, the only acceptable result is
somewhere between excellent and elite. Clint uses powerful stories and lessons learned as a
highly decorated athlete and member of the elite SEAL Teams to share with the audience:
▪ The difference between "excellent and elite".
▪ That gifting and talent can get you to "excellent" but not "elite".
▪ The psychology and best practices of elite achievers that consistently take them beyond
excellence.
▪ How to use these techniques to become an elite achiever in all aspects of your life.
Pursuit Points:
▪ Balance - Having high ground for hard days.
▪ Curiosity - Finding out, so you are not found out.
▪ Tribalism - Knowing you need something more than you, to do things bigger than you.
▪ Intentionalism - Always remembering to never forget why you started the hard journey.
▪ Authenticity - We all have scars. The bravest share them.

risks and accelerate the adoption of innovative new
products in the Source through Supply Chain (SSC) space. SIGInnova is driven by its
Leadership Council, comprised of over 20 member company CPOs and other procurement
executives. SIGInnova works with SIG members to fill gaps in technology that can help the C-
suite drive strategic impact, improve profits and mitigate risk. In turn, SIGInnova helps
providers of emerging products accelerate their acceptance in the market by assisting them
in their development cycle with real industry feedback. The next opportunity to interact with
SIGInnova will be at the SIG Global Executive Summit, where a small group of pre-screened
emerging products are presented one-at-a-time in short windows to buy-side members in the
audience. Participants will be exposed to innovative and possibly disruptive products that

Strategies for Maximizing ROI of Supply Chain Risk Management Programs
A Case Study Presentation with Rapid Ratings and a buy-side co-presenter to be announced
Global supplier dynamics are changing due to the increasing level of uncertainty around
economic and geopolitical hot topics (e.g., US-China trade war, rising interest rates, Brexit)
mean that what looks like a strong enough supplier today, could be far from it tomorrow.
Adding to the pressure, risk managers are being challenged to demonstrate value and
return on investment to internal stakeholders. From procurement to ongoing monitoring to
SIG 2019 Spring Summit, Amelia Island, FL Session Details
mitigation, risk management teams must work together to connect the dots throughout a
supplier's lifecycle - not only to identify potential disruption, but to also demonstrate program
value and efficiencies.
You will learn:
▪ How to establish a centralized risk management program with shared goals across
business units to promote stakeholder transparency
▪ How to determine, manage and act on core Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) such as financial
health to better understand risk hot spots for optimal mitigation

Invigorate Strategic Sourcing with Supplier Relationship Management
With S&P Global

squeeze a few dollars out. Sourcing’s vocabulary doesn’t always lend itself to relationship
building – and Sourcing often has little or no mandate and requires strong relationships.
Learn how you can use a Vendor Management paradigm to jump start your sourcing
program or improve it, by quickly getting your arms around the right information, and
speaking to your business partners in terms they want to hear.
You will learn:
▪ How to use Vendor Management for Sourcing strategies
▪ Why VM or SRM brings quick wins to Strategic Sourcing
▪ How Vendor Management brings a vocabulary to the business that Sourcing may not
▪ How to use Vendor Management to build a stronger relationship with the business
Leading Through Influence: Getting to Yes for Projects and Initiatives
With the former CPO of Vail Resorts and Vertafore
SIG 2019 Spring Summit, Amelia Island, FL Session Details
Do you struggle to gain support for initiatives and projects? Or, do you gain initial approval
only to face walls half way through a project. Support for initiatives, whether technology
solutions, sourcing strategy execution, or even process changes can be difficult, with a
strong Procurement Brand you can shift the conversations from “maybe or no” to “yes and
now”! In this session we will discuss techniques that promote a positive Procurement Brand
and build trust within your organization. This in turn will increase your ability to partner and
influence decision makers.
You will learn:
▪ The case for change, what is behind the lack of influence
▪ Strategies and techniques to build trust and get decision makers on board for change
Procurement's Leading Role in Workforce Management
A Case Study Presentation with Hays Talent Solutions and a buy-side co-presenter TBA
The world of work has fundamentally changed, and talent scarcity has become the norm in
all industries. As companies strive to optimize their workforces, they are finding that
balancing talent demand with many sources of supply has become increasingly difficult.
Leading organizations are concluding it is time for a new "talent forward" strategy to
manage the entire workforce. Given that labor is a complex supply chain and often the
largest spend category, Procurement is uniquely qualified to partner with HR/Talent
Acquisition to develop and execute a strategy for transforming the entire workforce. In this
session you will hear why Procurement leaders should partner with their HR/TA colleagues
and take their workforce program to the next level by creating a comprehensive "talent
forward" strategy.
You will learn:
▪ The importance of building relationships and aligning with key internal stakeholders
▪ How to discover and understand your current worker usage and spend
▪ How to craft a vision of your future workforce, and develop the strategic sourcing plan to
deliver it to your organization
▪ How to optimize your talent supply chain and procurement process, so that your
organization is efficiently fulfilling talent demand from the most appropriate talent
suppliers
▪ How to expand spend under management to include talent suppliers like SOW, small
services providers and online staffing that often fly under the radar
▪ Best practices that are delivering total talent results today
Deep Analytics that Drive Success in Contingent Labor Programs

that procurement professionals need to know (and be able to answer) around key
performance indicators in order to optimize their programs.

ICs Are Not A Dirty Word!
A case study presentation with MBO Partners
Today's work environment is an evolving landscape. The convergence of changing worker
preferences, and a strong economy and tight job market make it harder for companies to
find workers with the skills they need. This skills shortage gives many workers the upper hand-
specifically independent professionals. This shift in the way we work is replacing the
traditional employer-employee relationship with a more diverse workforce ecosystem of
independent talent and their clients.
Mitigate Risk In Your Supply Chain Through Supplier Relationship Management
A case study presentation with NTT Security and ConnXus
Though many organizations are aware of and will mitigate business risks, procurement as a
risk control function is often overlooked. Specifically, SRM (Supplier Relationship
Management) is a key component of third-party risk management that can protect a
company's business operations and reputation. Procurement and sourcing professionals,
SIG 2019 Spring Summit, Amelia Island, FL Session Details

most common pitfalls of supply chain risk and discuss strategies best tailored to your team.
You will learn:
▪ The business case for managing risk through SRM
▪ The role new technology plays in risk mitigation

How to Manage ALL of your Contingent Workforce: A Plan for Reality
An innovation insight with Beeline
To compete and succeed in today's on-demand business environment, you need an agile,
high-performing workforce with the optimal mix of employee and contingent talent. But first,
you need to get a better understanding of your entire non-employee workforce. In this
session, you will hear how leading companies automated sourcing and management of
their contingent labor as a step toward Total Workforce Optimization. The presenters will
provide methodologies for how to digitize and operationalize your contracting program for
increased savings, efficiency, and fewer clashes with Legal. In many increasingly regulated
industries, contracting for even the smallest amount can turn into a multi-week process with
multiple checkpoints and approvals. How do you position your team to succeed?
You will learn:
▪ How to make the regulations work for YOU
▪ How digitalization can help streamline your contracting process
▪ How to staff and operationalize the contracting team to ensure maximum efficiency
▪ Best practices in using third party support for contracting

Maximizing Transparency in Supplier Contracts
A case study presentation with SC&H Group and a buy-side co-presenter to be announced
Complex, global supply chains encompass a multitude of supplier/customer relationships. A
recipe for a successful relationship is one where both the supplier and customer work
towards the same goals and objectives as a partnership. Effective partnerships are based on
accountability, agreed upon standards, and transparency. Blind trust is not a formula for
success in partnerships because partners will question the unknowns. In procurement
unknowns can be cost, profit margins, service levels, prepayments, staffing levels, etc.. The
best way to ensure a successful partnership between customer and supplier is to put all the
facts on the table with a well negotiated, transparent contract.
You will learn:
▪ How to structure RFPs to get quality responses that are easily evaluated against each
other
▪ Why certain contract structures are more transparent than others
▪ Where non-transparent profit centers exist in supplier contracts and how to eliminate
them
▪ How to reduce opportunities for price increases that do not correspond with cost
increases
▪ How an annual audit can nurture relationships, set expectations, and establish
accountability

How to Mitigate the Impact of Duties and Tariffs
Insights from Blue Tiger International
The recent tariff penalties emanating from Washington, D.C., referred to as the 232 and 301
Tariffs, have caused a great deal of concern for companies sourcing from overseas markets.
Increases as high as 25% have made foreign purchasing from China and other countries less
cost effective options. In this session you will learn from a thought leader who has been
developing solutions for companies for over 30 years in mitigating the impact of any foreign
determined duties and taxes, along with operational methods of reducing risk and spend
from global supply chains. The audience will learn practical techniques and strategies to

Next Generation Third Party Risk Management: Effective Change Management
Strategies
A case study presentation with Bank of Canada and Ontala
Whether you are building the first-ever third party risk management program, or harmonizing
and strengthening what is already in place, effective change management is the key to
success. One of the most common challenges is effectively communicating what will
change, and why change is necessary to stakeholders that may not have the technical skills
or bandwidth to figure it out. We will address the first step in any successful change:
developing a credible, high value case for change. We will then address a second essential
element for effective change management: securing the committed engagement of key
stakeholders throughout complex change management activities during each phase of
SIG 2019 Spring Summit, Amelia Island, FL Session Details

Engagement.

deliver the big picture
▪ An actionable framework for committed stakeholder engagement
True Cost Detective: Unravel the Mystery of Your Suppliers' Costs
A breakout session with IHS Markit
Sourcing and Procurement teams that spend millions on switches, servers, computers,
phones, and other equipment frequently lack sufficient insights into expected pricing,
negotiable levers, and market conditions to make the best purchasing decisions. These
teams often have limited time to maintain pricing databases or develop insights on suppliers
that can be used to their advantage in negotiations. Learn how your sourcing teams can
become True Cost Detectives and unravel the mystery of your suppliers' cost structure to
avoid leaving significant amounts of money on the negotiation table.
