OPENING DAY UNDER KRIKORIANFlorida State is 18-5-1 all-time on opening day, including a mark of 12-1-1 when opening the season at home. The Noles are 13-1-0 on opening day under head coach Mark Krikorian, including a mark of 8-0-0 at the Seminole Soccer Complex. FSU has won 11 straight season openers, outscoring the opposition 27-3.

FSU VS. TCUThursday’s meeting between the Seminoles and the Horned Frogs will be the first meeting between the two programs in soccer.

Florida State is 7-1-1 against teams that are currently in the Big 12. FSU is 2-0 against Oklahoma, 1-0 against Iowa State, Texas and Texas Tech, 1-0-1 against Oklahoma State and 1-1 against Kansas.

ACC PRESEASON POLLAfter earning ACC Championships in six of the last eight seasons, the Florida State soccer program is again expected to have a strong season in 2019 as the Seminoles were voted to finish second in the league but lead the league in first place votes.

FSU tallied 185 points and trailed only North Carolina who received 188 points and six first-place votes. However, the Noles topped all schools with eight first-place votes and were also one of two schools to place multiple members on the 2019 Preseason All-ACC Women’s Soccer Team – senior Deyna Castellanos, redshirt junior Malia Berkely, sophomore Jaelin Howell and sophomore Yujie Zhao

MAC HERMANN TROPHYFour Seminole student-athletes earned a spot on the preseason watch list for the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy. Senior Deyna Castellanos, redshirt junior Malia Berkely, sophomore Jaelin Howell and sophomore Yujie Zhao were among the 61 players recognized.

It marked the third year in a row Castellanos was named to the Watch List.

It is the 16th straight season that the Seminoles have had a student-athlete named to the preseason Watch List and FSU has had at least two players selected 12 times in the last 14 seasons.

Florida State leads the country with four members on the watch list. four other teams have three student-athletes on the list

In 2007, Mami Yamaguchi won the MAC Hermann Trophy, the first and only player in school history to win the award. Yamaguchi led the country in points that season with 66, while finishing second in goals (24) and assists (18).

TDS PRESEASON BEST XITopDrawerSoccer released its 2019 Preseason Best XI teams, and Florida State had a country high five members among the four different teams.

Sophomore Yujie Zhao received a spot on the Best XI First Team, while senior Deyna Castellanos and redshirt junior Malia Berkely received spots on the Best XI Second Team.

Sophomore Jaelin Howell earned herself a spot on the Best XI Third Team and while newcomer Jenna Nighswonger was named to the Best XI Freshman Team.

It is the third year in a row that Castellanos has been chosen to the preseason teams and

second straight year for Zhao.

Florida State is 95-29-17 in league play under head coach Mark Krikorian as more than three-quarters of FSU’s all-time wins in the ACC have come with Krikorian at the helm. Under Krikorian, FSU is 57-9-6 against league opponents at home and 38-21-12 on the road.

FSU has finished no lower than second place (including ties) in the ACC 10 times (2005-10, 2012-15) over the last 13 years, claiming three regular season titles (2009, 2012 and 2014).
