2019 A BREAK THROUGH YEAR FOR HOPE IS ALIVE We opened our first Hope Is Alive mentoring home for men six years ago — and what an incredible ride it has been. We’ve helped over 1,000 men and women break out of tough circumstances and achieve radical life change through community support and the love of God.

This past year was a turning point — a true breakthrough — for our organization. Our number of homes grew by 64%. We expanded to three states and welcomed several program graduates as paid members of our growing team. Plus, we reached even more loved ones of addicts and alcoholics through Finding Hope support groups in Oklahoma, Kansas and North Carolina.

To the volunteers, donors, mentors and leaders who have been with us every step of the way — thank you. Without your kindness and commitment, Hope Is Alive would still be just a dream.

With hope,

Founder, Hope Is Alive Ministries

M I S S I O N To radically change the lives of drug addicts, alcoholics and those who love them

The Hope Is Alive program is responsible for millions of months of sobriety and thousands of lives saved. We redefine the way people get and stay sober. We work to radically change the way people interact with each other, always offering grace and kindness but never backing down on holding others accountable.

While living at HIA, residents are guided through our unique three-phased program which helps build a strong foundation of faith and recovery. After completing the three phases, residents will have accomplished over 60 requirements. This gives them incredible confidence that goals can be reached and that they can finish what they started.

V I S I O NA program in which 100% of graduates maintain lifelong sobriety, and HIA homes exist across the country.

Lance and Ally Lang met in 2009 — their quick engagement just as quickly ended when the depths of Lance’s addiction were made public. As Lance began recovering from his drug addiction and alcoholism, Ally realized she needed recovery from the relationship trauma which comes with loving an addict.

With a dream in his heart, Lance opened the first Hope Is Alive recovery home for men in Oklahoma City in 2013. By the summer of 2015, Lance and Ally had fully rekindled and restored their relationship. Today, their story’s impact is evident in the hundreds of lives changed and the BREAKTHROUGHS made through Hope Is Alive Ministries.

LEA MONTGOMERY | EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT“Today, I am a faithful friend. I am someone that others count on. I’m an honest, open, transparent person and I’m the person God created me to be.”

BLAKE WIELAND | DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT“With the men I’ve met and the relationships I’ve made, I hope they know I’m a resource to them. They can reach out to me for support. I want to be a servant for the Lord, and I hope that’s my legacy.”

KIMWichita, KS

Kim’s struggles with alcoholism caused her life to spiral — her marriage ended, she lost her job and she began drinking all day, every day. But through HIA, Kim made a BREAKTHROUGH. She now enjoys a restored relationship with her family and feels joy in her heart. She used to be broken, she says, but God has made her whole again. In 2019, Kim became HIA’s new Wichita Women’s Program Manager.

“I have joy in my heart. I have a purpose. I have a calling. HIA has completely transformed my entire life.”

Finding Hope Support Groups provide help and hope for loved ones of addicts and alcoholics. Through education, inspiration and community support, Hope Is Alive equips participants with the tools they need to feel whole again.

In 2019, HIA grew from five support groups to 13 groups in three states with over 25 volunteers. We also created a Finding Hope Leader Training & Curriculum program, enabling individuals to start their own groups anywhere in the country.

FAMILY RESTORATION

SCOTTOklahoma City, OK

Scott turned to alcohol to deal with the death of his mother. His drinking evolved, and he just couldn’t get enough. In the depths of his addiction, Scott’s wife Darcie felt all alone. But through HIA, Scott made a BREAKTHROUGH — today, he and Darcie have their family back. Darcie advises others dealing with loved ones’ addictions to not be scared. You’ll make sacrifices, she says, but the freedom that comes from it is worth every sacrifice made.

“Hope Is Alive has given me a chance to show my kids that, when you fall, you don’t have to stay down. Get back up. Live a full life. Live a free life.”

His relationship with his kids is stronger than it has ever been.

“My experience in Hope Is Alive has just been amazing. It has taught me so much. There’s nothing better than experiencing radical life change.”

RONNIEWichita, KS

Ronnie had trouble with alcohol during his time in the military, but his addiction became even more apparent once he returned home. He ended up overdosing during a low-point and says he was as lost as any one person could be — but Hope Is Alive helped Ronnie make a BREAKTHROUGH. He says he’s now able to see people for who they are, be a better person for his family and friends and grow relationships he never thought possible.

“Hope Is Alive has given me a chance at a new life with a clear head, and it’s also given me the will to live a life with our Lord and Savior.”

Through our Adopt a House program, individuals and small groups are able to support Hope Is Alive in real, tangible ways. We ask volunteers to: • Select the home they want to adopt• Support the home and its residents for a minimum of six months• Select two to three household items, like bleach and hand soap,

they’ll provide each month• Bring a meal once a quarter• Promise to pray for the residents in their adopted home by name each week

“I love volunteering at Hope Is Alive. I believe we serve ourselves best when we serve others first. I love getting to see these women at day one, and when they leave through that door, they’re just so empowered and they’re different. They are changed, and it is the most gratifying thing to see that and be a part of that.”
