Romans 15:13 NKJVNow may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of
the Holy Spirit.
Definition of hope: Joyful and confident
expectation.
We need hope for: • Ourselves• Families • Businesses• Finances• Health • Strained or broken relationships
HOPE BELIEVES, NO MATTER WHAT
Romans 15:13 NKJVNow may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of
the Holy Spirit.
As long as we keep believing we will abound in hope.
Luke 1:37-38 NLT“For nothing is impossible with God.”
Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said
about me come true.” And then the angel left her.
Luke 1:45 NLT “You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.”
The fruit of hope is joy and peace, and it comes from God.
GOD CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE
Elisha and Samaria
2 Kings 7:1-2 NIVElisha replied, “Hear the word of the LORD. This is what the LORD says: About this time tomorrow, a
seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of
Samaria.” The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the LORD should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?” “You will see it with your own
eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!”
Paul and the storm
Acts 27:20 NIVWhen neither sun nor stars appeared
for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up
all hope of being saved.
Acts 27:22-25 NIV“But now I urge you to keep up your courage,
because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed. Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it
will happen just as he told me.”
In these examples hearing a word from God was key.
OUR SOURCE OF HOPE ISTHE HOLY SPIRIT
Romans 15:13b NKJV… that you may abound in hope by
the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit can change anything. He can do in one minute what man cannot
do in a lifetime.
Luke 4:14 NKJVThen Jesus returned in the power of
the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding
region.
Luke 4:18-19 NKJV“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, To set at
liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
John 7:37-39 NKJVOn the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone
thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has
said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would
receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
BECOME A PRISONER OF HOPE
Zechariah 9:12 NKJV
“Return to the stronghold, You prisoners of hope. Even today I
declare That I will restore double to you.”
