Another year has ended for the club. The past year has been very stable for the club. Attendances at the scheduled runs have been very pleasing and for the most part the weather gods have assisted us. The terrific contribution to the club by members arranging runs is also good to see and greatly appreciated by all. It is also pleasing to see that the hard work by our out-going Club Captain Peter Williams with the support of the run sub-committee of Graham Banks and Lisa Thistleton has resulted in a run calendar which is now published in the newsletter. This will help members pre-book their diaries for the runs that appeal to them. Forward planning in these busy times is always a help. As always, run suggestions and offers to prepare and manage runs by members is always appreciated. Spreading the load is the focus of any club and after all we are all able to enjoy the results. In a similar vein, the behind the scenes work by the cohort of members that ensure that the BBQ meat is purchased, the pies and pasties heated and that supper plans run smoothly need to be acknowledged. Usually this team of members is on the front foot, offering to take on catering without hesitation, supporting the club. We thank you for your continued service. Our new Treasurer, Brenton Watkins has settled into the role and the information provided to the committee and the manag-ing of club finances is in very capable hands. So a big shout out to Brenton for taking this on for the club and for doing such a great job. Similarly, Charlie Mifsud continues to star as our Secretary and with his good work and attention to detail the affairs of the club continue like a well oiled machine. It has been a successful year for the club. I thank the entire committee for their excellent efforts to contributing to the ongoing success of the club. Membership of the committee is open to all, as are all the Constitutional Roles. The tasks are not arduous. Consider taking up the opportunity to join the committee and see how the club works.
I also thank the members for their support in embracing the change to electronic delivery of the club newsletter. I think this was the single largest change this year but the end result has been a correction to club expenses resulting in retention of the Annual Subscription level with no change. I look forward to the next 12 months and I am very sure our club is in a strong and robust position going forward. Shane Conry

THE 2019 ROCKER COVER RACES
Sunday morning dawned with a clear blue sky and it looked like once again our annual Rocker Racing day was go-ing to be fortunate to have good weather. Several volunteers arrived early and assisted to set up the track, which was declared ”FAST” by the Stewards. The BBQ was expertly cleaned and prepared by our Secretary Charlie, who also acted as Head Chef. Members arrived from about 12-45pm, and there was soon an array of cars lined up in the “Pits”. Scrutineers checked them over, and after a few marginal irregularities, all were right to race. About 30 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs attended, so it was a well supported event. As the weather was fine, with just a slight breeze, everyone enjoyed their BBQ lunch outside under the Gum tree, and by 1-15pm, the racing began. The Junior group were first, then the Ladies, then finally the Open section. There was much frivolity and laughs, with some contests so close that for the first time, the club had to employ a photographer [Malcolm] at the finish line to help with the results. The eliminations were all completed and the winners were as follows:- Juniors…..Maddie. Ladies……Tineta. Open……Jobey. Prizes were handed out at a lavish ceremony under the veranda and the festivities finished around 3-00pm. Thanks must go to Rob Green for transporting [and storing] the track and fittings, the Mathews family for once again using their excellent catering skills, John Badcock for operating the Scoreboard and the two Charlies for cooking a great BBQ. Once again my two Racers were an embarrassment, due mainly to wheel alignment problems and lack of power, so I must do some serious work on them before next year ! Thanks to all for a very enjoyable day out, John Sommers.
The idea of holding a club event to have members build and race a Rocker Cover came from John Badcock after seeing it done at another club. It was initially going to be a one off event but proved popular and it has continued to be an annual event ever since. The track was built by Edd Gray and has been maintained and modified in recent times by Rob Green to make it lighter to handle. Arthur Doecke went to great lengths to build his Rocker Cover, including independent suspension and took out the trophy 4 times in the first 5 years. As the perpetual trophy hasn't much more room to add the annual winners, a new Perpetual Plaque will be used to record all the winners, past and into the future. The Perpetual Plaque will be hung in the CCC rooms. The Perpetual Trophy will continue to be taken home by the winner. Previous winners are: 2007 A Doecke 2008 J Broadbent (HMVC) 2009 A Doecke
2010 A Doecke 2011 A Doecke 2012 M Reddy
2013 A Reddy 2014 J Green 2015 J Green

Seat belt laws as they affect historically registered vehicles were amended last year to ensure any child under the age of 7 years of age be restrained in an approved seat belt ( in a lap/sash seat belt) . Vehicles can be converted at authorised centres to fulfil this need. Modelling in one of the early 50’s child seats is 8 month old Audrey Watkins which was brought out of the ar-chives for a photo shoot. It hadn’t been used for 60 odd years. Also back in that period , child strollers looked very basic. Members are also reminded to ensure their log books are signed and that an entry is made each time the vehicle is used and signed by one of the drivers on the day.
