About WEN

2

Women’s Energy Network (WEN) was founded in 1994 by Karyl McCurdy Lawson with the purpose of fostering the development and advancement of women in energy by developing a strong network. The Mission of the Women’s Energy Network (WEN) is to: • Attract more women into energy through outreach programs. • To retain and develop women in energy by fostering relationships. • To develop leadership competencies and industry insights through strategic

partnerships.

• Strengthened our leadership with additional chairs and volunteers

• Awarded the Devon Thunder Explorers award for our work with STEM

• Launched our YouTube Channel • Completed 1st year of Mentor Circles; 2nd year kicked off

Our goal with Community Initiatives was to partner with existing organizations rather than compete with them.

• We developed strategic partnerships with: • Girl Scouts (Eastern and Western Oklahoma) • STARBASE (Tinker) • YWCA • Tulsa Regional STEM Alliance

• We provided support and volunteers for the following events:

• Camp Me & My Gal – July 2016 – Girl Scouts • Camp Samoa – July 2017 – Girl Scouts • TinkerFest – September 2017 – Science Museum OKC • Chemistry Day – November 2017 – Science Museum • STEMQuest – November 2017 Cameron University

WEN OK contributed 16 volunteers plus STEM committee members that provided exposure for over 300 participants statewide in educational STEM activities.
