A Letter from our Foundation Board

The Mission is Critical: The mission of the Lions Eye Institute for Transplant & Research is to set new standards for ocular endeavors that will improve visual outcomes and quality of life for those who are blind or visually impaired. The Lions Eye Institute for Transplant and Research (LEITR) is one of the largest combined eye banks and ocular research centers in the world. Since our inception in 1973, we have provided the gift of sight to over 130,000 men, women and children and 50,000 ocular globes for research – making an impact felt around the world.

Proceeds from The Lions Eye Ball: • Enable our Ocular Research Center to conduct research to prevent, arrest or delay the

progression of blinding eye diseases. • Support the process by which we recover and ensure that ocular tissue is safe for

transplantation. • Transform lives by ensuring that all individuals who need a corneal transplant

can receive one regardless of their ability to afford the sight-saving surgery.
