Event Rules & Competition Area Rules

During expo open hours of 9:00am-6pm the following rules will apply to the competition are and the warm up area allocated for the strongman competition. At all times the only people allowed inside the competition area and the warm up area are the Arnold Strongman officials, volunteers and competitors for the current weight division competing. Coaches, handlers, family and friends are NOT permitted inside the warm up area or the competition area at any time. If these rules are not followed the persons in violation will risk being ejected from the venue and potentially the competition. This must be enforced due to safety and insurance reasons. The biggest complaint we have from competitors is about the warm up and competition space and ironically it is usually themselves or their coaches/handlers/friends/family/posse/team in violation. Handlers and coaches will be able to coach from the fenceline which at any time is only a few meters away from the competitors. Once your weight class has completed warm ups or their competition has begun all current competitors must vacate the area to allow the next group to begin warm ups. During the squat event we understand athletes may require someone to wrap their knees. There will be an area allocated in the corner of the arena where coaches can wrap athletes knees prior to vacating the area. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TIMES- This competition runs to a very tight schedule. Every effort will be made to have announcements of upcoming events and the times at which they will be happening. There will be a running sheet placed on a notice board on the day indicating the next events athlete order. Once the competition starts we do not wait for you. If you are not ready at the designated start time the event will begin and you will lose time.

www.arnoldstrongman.com.au

EVENT SCORING For all divisions we will be running a standard scoring format. For example if there are 15 competitors in the division the point breakdown would be as follows; 1st = 15 points 2nd = 14 points 3rd = 13 points and so on. 15th place would receive 1 point. If a competitor fails to either; 1- Move the implement across the start line in a moving event

or 2- Fails to complete at least 1 repetition in a rep event or medley then they will

score 0 for that event. The first event order will be randomised by the competitors drawing numbers at weigh in. Each following event will work in reverse order. The bottom two placed competitors in the previous event will go first in the next event. The top two placed competitors in the previous event will go last. The Final event for all weight divisions will run on the overall placing to finish the competition so that the top 2 placed competitors overall will go last in the head to head event. In the case of a tied score after the conclusion of all events a tiebreaker event will be used for podium positions only. The tiebreaker event will be announced if necessary. for example if there is a tie for 3rd place a tie breaker will be used to determine 3rd & 4th final placing. If there is a tie for 6th place then those competitors will tie that position.
