Please join us for a very exciting meeting in beautiful Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. The meeting will take

place at the Osthoff Resort on the shore of Elkhart Lake. This was the site of our meeting a few years ago and was rated so highly by the attendees that we are returning. Early September is a beautiful season to spend some time in the northern Kettle Moraine. The quaint village of Elkhart Lake has many fine restaurants and shops which are within easy walking distance of the hotel. It is also home to the famous Elkhart Lake racetrack.

Nearby attractions include the Wade House, historic downtown Plymouth, the Village of Kohler, and the lakeshore in Sheboygan is twenty minutes away. There is a water park there for those who might want to bring children.

A fantastic program has been put together by Dr. Barbara Meinecke. Highlights include many currently hot topics. Dr. David Dickerson, from the University of Chicago, will speak on Opioid Sparing Techniques. Aimee Becker, MD, Chairman at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, will speak on At-Risk Anesthesiologists.

There will be a lecture on the impact of healthcare system consolidation on anesthesiology practices. Other timely topics include dental sedation, OR considerations for implanted devices, Suboxone management perioperatively, temperature neuroprotection, and OR distractions.

There will be a workshop on regional anesthesia and interesting problem-based learning discussions.

This will be a great chance to earn some continuing medical education from a panel of experts both regionally and nationally in a beautiful location. This is one of the benefits of your WSA membership, so please join us for this easily accessed learning opportunity.

James J. Nicholson, MD President, WSA

of transient cerebral ischemia (e.g. Stroke clot retrieval, cerebral aneurysm surgery) in the perioperative setting.

• Understand the various sedation practices of the dental community, with a specific consideration regarding the pediatric patient.

• Be able to implement strategies to reduce persistent opioid use after surgery.

• Learning the anesthetic considerations for patients having spinal cord stimulators or intrathecal pumps going for surgery.

• Develop strategies and/or protocols to reduce the risk adverse outcomes.

• Learn how the American Society of Anesthesiologists is engaging federal stakeholders on this topic and what that may mean for your individual practice.

• Learn how recent “regulatory relief” changes to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System may affect your bottom line.

• Understand common upper and lower extremity blocks, and how to trouble-shoot them.

After participating in this activity, the attendee will be able to:
