Assessment Data Snapshot

Sun Valley Elementary, which opened in the 2008-2009 school year, is continuing its ten year legacy as it enters its 2018-2019 school year.

Strengths include:

A strong community base of stakeholders including staff, parents and students

Achieving a NC Report Card grade of a B in all areas

Meeting expectations in reading with -0.18

Meeting 100% of the participation targets with 14 out of 14 total targets

Meeting 100% of reading long term targets with 5 out of 5 total targets

Priority areas for improvement include:

Meeting or exceeding growth status in all areas of reading, math, and science

Improving our progress on the NC Report Card from the grade of B in 2018 to an A by 2020

Increasing our overall achievement from 71.2 in 2018 to 80 by 2020

Increasing our overall growth from 67.7 in 2018 to 80+ by 2020

Increasing math proficiency from 72.1 in 2018 to 80 by 2020

Increasing reading proficiency from 69.2 in 2018 to 80 by 2020

Improving reading and math growth by increasing the percentage of students achieving level 5’s

Profile

Sun Valley Elementary School has the support of a strong community base as it enters into its 10th year of serving K-5 students. Current

enrollment is 661 students and demographics include: 17% of our students are Hispanic and 17% are African American, 3% of our students are

Asian and 5% are two or more races, 57% of our students are White.

SVES leads the way in bilingual education in the SPLASH/DLI program. SPLASH/DLI Kindergarten through 5th grade and we are hosting 6

Participate teachers in the 2018-2019 school year.

According to the 2018 NC Teacher Working Conditions Survey, 97.8% of teachers believe SVES, overall, is a good place to work and learn, and

100% of teachers feel we utilize the NCTWCS as a tool for school improvement.
