MISSIONHISTORY

VISION

To mentor kids for college today and careers

tomorrow.

1989Mike Yanney and Dr. Gail Walling Yanney began a mentoring

program for 20 students at McMillan Middle School, all of whom continued on their educational path to become college

graduates. This program became known as All Our Kids.

1996Jerry and Cookie Hoberman created the Winners Circle program at Belvedere Academy recognizing students for their academic achievement. Winners Circle engaged students, teachers, family

and the community in education.

2007All Our Kids and Winners Circle joined forces to help more

students from low-income neighborhoods stay in school and graduate. This partnership became today’s Partnership 4 Kids.

To build a better community by inspiring

hope, engaging minds and launching futures through

goal setting, mentoring, college and careers.

Partnership 4 Kids is proud to share our 2017-2018 successes as we work with students from underserved communities to make their way “to and through college”. P4K’s elementary students met 90% of their reading goals. Middle and high school students attended school 10-13 days more than their counterparts and maintained a near 3.0 GPA throughout the year. Our college program sees continuous growth with 112 students in college and a projected enrollment of 168 within the next 3 years. This evaluation tells our story and gives you a glimpse into the past school year. We look forward to continuing to guide students on their educational pathway. And, once again, we thank you for your incredible support.

PARTNERSHIP 4 KIDS PATHWAY TO COLLEGE

WHATWE DO

P4K guides students in forging their future through goal setting, mentoring, college access and career exploration. By creating a culture of universal achievement from the earliest grades, P4K increases the likelihood of postsecondary success for each and every student.

P4K is the only nonprofit in the U.S. certified by No Excuses University, where we share the philosophy that all students deserve the right to be educated in a manner that prepares them for acceptance into a postsecondary institution.

1. Access to books in a home is the single largest indicator of academic success - surpassing income, parent’s education, family composition and all other factors.

Children with no access to books are, on average, three years behind academically than children in a home with access to books. (Family and Community Engagement Research Compendium)

2. Through read-aloud, youth can witness modeling of reading fluency and confidence in reading skills. (Sara Van Dyke, National Association of After Schools Special Programs Consultant)

3. Twenty-six percent of children who were read to three or four times in the last week... recognized all letters of the alphabet. This is compared to 14 percent of children who were read to less frequently. (National Center for Education Statistics)

96% of family members stated that an adult within the household had read a P4K Book Buddy Program Book to the student.
