MASSIV: The Tallest Water Coaster in the World!
We built MASSIV, the tallest water coaster in the world in Galveston to celebrate the park’s 10th anniversary.
This year is the first full season for this monster blaster. A true engineering marvel, MASSIV features the latest
technology in the industry to save both water and energy as it blasts riders through multiple uphill sections
and is the world’s only water ride with a triple dip finale. Click here to learn more.
Not All Waterslides Are Created Equal
Do you know the difference between different types of water slides?
It’s the 50th Year of Family Fun
This year Schlitterbahn celebrates a fifty-year tradition of providing great river based family fun. Bob and Billye
Henry moved their three children to New Braunfels to take over a small resort on the banks of the Comal
River on Labor Day of 1966, kicking off a family business that would, in time, grow into Schlitterbahn.
“My parent’s goal was to have their own business where our family could work together,” noted Gary Henry,
head of Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts operating arm. “It’s a goal they more than met over the years.”
Now, fifty years later, the family has grown the small resort into a company with a total of three resorts, two
indoor waterparks, five outdoor waterparks, two full-service restaurants and a country club — all focused on
providing family entertainment.
Sustainability
Schlitterbahn has a long history of sustainable building practices, utilizing a wide variety of materials (such as
parts from decommissioned ships), in the construction of its waterparks. One example is our most recent
waterpark and resort in Corpus Christi, TX.
The Longest Float = Longest Days
Schlitterbahn Waterparks specialize in keeping guests in the water far longer than most waterparks – some of
our rides are 45 minutes long (and that’s from ride entry to ride end, not going in circles). Born in the heart of
Texas’ sizzling summers, long rides are the best formula for keeping guests cool all day long.

Unplug All The Way
Even with waterproof cases, waterparks remain the last remaining oasis from the cell phone zombification of
our nation. Most people at waterparks are unplugging from social networks, from the internet, and from the
world of the screen and splashing into 3-D real time with one another. Schlitterbahn has long realized that this
break from technology is exactly what most people need while on vacation – a real break from incessant
connection. This may be why waterpark time can be the most relaxing way to reconnect as a family – because
even kids have to stop texting and start playing with the person next to them.
Summer Safety
Keeping kids safe in waterparks is as simple as Float, Splash, Slather and Supervise! Here are four tips from the
experts at Schlitterbahn:
Float – Floatation Required! Schlitterbahn offers free life vests to every visitor. If your child doesn’t know how
to swim or lacks confidence in the water, put them in a life vest. Keep in mind teens and tweens who don’t
know how to swim will not always consider their safety when they are with their friends. A non-swimmer
might not wear their lifejacket when none of their friends wear one. If you have a non-swimming teen or
tween, make sure they have an adult with them who can help them make safe choices. Or better yet, sign
them up for swimming lessons early this summer!
Splash – Schlitterbahn offers great splash and play areas, so even the littlest ones can have fun without getting
in water any deeper than your ankle. Prepare by bringing water shoes and consider a life jacket anyway, which
can double as mega sun protection.
Slather – Slather on the sunscreen and hydrate. Just because you are in the water doesn’t mean you can’t get
burned and dehydrated! Apply sunscreen every few hours and make sure everyone stops and takes a drink
often. The summer sun can really do a number on both the inside and outside of a kid.
Supervise – No one knows your child’s behavior better than you! Whether you have a daring shark or a shy
minnow, the best safety device for your child is your attention. Make sure you keep an eye on every child,
particularly weak swimmers.

BIG News This Year!
Fifty-Year Tradition of Family Fun!
This year Schlitterbahn celebrates a fifty-year tradition of providing great family fun. Bob and Billye Henry
moved their three children to New Braunfels to take over a small resort on the banks of the Comal River on
Labor Day of 1966, kicking off a family business that would, in time, grow into Schlitterbahn. That small resort

Celebrating in style!
To celebrate the family business’ golden anniversary, Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts have planned a
number of celebrations. The biggest will be the summer season full park opening celebration on April
29th featuring a concert by the Spazmatics.

11th through March 19th the Blastenhoff section of the park will be open. Ticket prices are reduced and lodging
specials abound. Visit Schlitterbahn.com for more information.
Lite options to ramp up to Summer
Schlitterbahn will be ramping up to summer with a three-stage opening! During April, increasingly larger areas
of the 70 acres of the park will be opened for floating and sliding fun. Admission will be discounted; it’s a great
way to enjoy the park on a budget! Visit Schlitterbahn.com for details on what attractions are open.
Four Adventures – One Waterpark
The Original Schlitterbahn: Home to the signature Schlitterbahn Castle, this section of the park uses
springfed water from the Comal River. Nestled beneath a beautiful canopy of trees, this section of the park
has eight tube chutes, seven kids’ play areas, a wave pool, and swim up bars with heated pools. On the wild
side: the Down Hill Racer and the Soda Straws. On the mild side: the Raging River and the Congo River
Expedition.
Surfenburg: Named for the world’s first surfing wave invented 26 years ago, the Boogie Bahn, Surfenburg is
also home to the first uphill water coaster, The Dragon’s Revenge – invented 22 years ago. Also in Surfenburg:
the Kristal River which circles Squirt’n Sliden, a giant kids’ play area.
Blastenhoff turns 21!: The most award-winning attraction in Schlitterbahn history, the Master Blaster, turns
21 in 2017. Using patented water injection technology, the Master Blaster starts at the top of a six story
tower in Blastenhoff. (Two other rides also take off from the same tower.) Surrounding the “Blast Tower” is
the Torrent Wave River – also invented 21 years ago – which combines an endless river with a wave pool for
unlimited fun.
Tubenbach: Tubenbach features The Falls, the world’s longest tubing adventure. The Tubenbach area
features several no-wait attractions and beaches allowing park guests to enjoy the rides without standing in
line. Also, several of the Tubenbach attractions are interconnected through an innovative
Transportainment® river, which allows guests to float their way throughout the Tubenbach area.
Overall, Schlitterbahn New Braunfels has four times the rides and attractions of any waterpark within
200 miles, and twice the number of attractions of any waterpark within 500 miles. Our naturally landscaped
park with hundred-year-old oak, cedar, and cypress trees creates a completely different experience from the
typical “hard-scaped” waterparks. We call those old school parks “cement, stairs, and slides” versus
Schlitterbahn’s rivers, trees, and rides.
Green Schlitterbahn
Schlitterbahn’s commitment to the environment is long standing. From the way the original park was designed
to flow among trees, to the commitment to water conservation (98% of the water is recycled through
filtration), to maintaining recycling containers throughout the parks, Schlitterbahn believes in sustainability. The
development team, which builds our new parks and attractions at Schlitterbahn, constantly looks for ways to
reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Premium Cabanas
Schlitterbahn has expanded the number of available cabanas to include everything from BBQ palapas to super-
sized cabanas suitable for ten people to share. Luxury cabanas with mini-fridges and TVs were successfully
launched summer of 2015.

Awards
The unique character of the park has led amusement park fans to vote Schlitterbahn New Braunfels the
“World’s Best Waterpark” nineteen years in a row. The park’s six-story Master Blaster® Uphill Water
Coaster has been voted the “World’s Best Waterpark Ride” repeatedly. The park also won the “World’s
Best New Waterpark Ride” Award for four years for; the Dragon’s Revenge Water Coaster (2008), the
Congo River Expedition, a heavily themed jungle ride (2009), and most recently The Falls, the world’s longest
tubing adventure (2011).
History
Schlitterbahn, which means “slippery road” in German, was opened in 1979 by the Henry family with four
water slides starting from a German-style tower. The tower was patterned after the Bergfried Guard Tower
at Solms Castle in Braunfels, Germany – home of the original settlers of New Braunfels. The Henry family
added the tower and the slides on a hill next to their resort, known back then as the Landa Resort. The family
has continued to innovate, creating new ways to have fun with water that are imitated throughout the
industry. More History.

There’s something for everyone:
Rivers!
Schlitterbahn Corpus Christi is called a RIVERpark for good reason – we have the most extensive, action-filled
river system in the world! We have five types of rivers here: A wave river, a momentum river, a swim channel,
an action river, and river tube chutes. Unlike any other park in the world, our rivers are all interconnected
and there are 16 beaches throughout to allow access — with NO lines. It’s part of our patented
Transportainment® system. The system includes over a mile of river, but if you combine tubing of all the rivers
in different ways, you could tube for seven miles!
The largest rivers in the system are:
The Torrent: Over 900 feet of wave generated fun!
The Kristal River: 750 feet of swiftly moving water in this classic momentum river!
Blitz Falls: Filled with rapids and falls – this river is like tubing on a real river!
Other river sections include: The Deluge, Comal Pass, the Cliff Hanger, and Rio Aventura!
Boogie Bahn
Based on the very first inland surfing ride invented at Schlitterbahn, the Boogie Bahn is the first waterpark
attraction that guests can get better on with practice. The surfing path is 20 feet wide with 50,000 gallons of
water per minute shooting out to form a thin sheet of water to surf on.
For media inquiries: [email protected]
Up Hill Blasters
Two blaster towers deliver all kinds of fun! Sky Blaster is 46 feet high and 385 feet long and offers a great view
of the Boogie Bahn. The twin Bahn and Bay Blasters allow guests to race each other to the splash zone. These
33-foot tall twin blasters are right in between the launch and landing zone of Padre’s Plunge.
Kiddie Splash Zones
The littlest guests at Schlitterbahn can divide their time between Lil’ Skippers and Buccaneer Bay. Kids can
enjoy a splashing good time on our ship, the CC Corpus Christi, slide down the butterfly wings, or get soaked
in the mushroom fountains.
Green Schlitterbahn
Schlitterbahn’s commitment to the environment is long standing. From the way the original park was designed

shipyards.

Schlitterbahn’s cabanas create a unique and relaxing experience. Guests enjoy a common gathering area for
their party and experience private seating, lounge chairs, catering, and tableside service. In Corpus Christi
there are reserved premium cabanas with wait staff and regular cabanas for guest use.
