Diane Glover

Sending heartfelt condolences to Debi Keeling and Pam Wittman.

Debi lost her mother in February and Pam lost her brother at the end of March and her mother in April.

Please keep our painting friends in your thoughts at this very difficult time.

WOW! Awesome return of Memory Boxes at our March Meeting. Thank you all very much. I delivered "31" boxes to St. Joe's on 4-6-17. Ruby was very pleased to receive them as their supply was almost depleted. Sadly there is a continuing need for this community service project. But I am uplifted each time I meet with Ruby and deliver boxes to her. Anyone is welcome to join me next time. She would love to meet other Brush Benders.    Thanks to everyone who paints memory boxes. I hope more are finished and returned at the May meeting. As usual, I will have more unfinished boxes to share with you. :)Rondi

Why Brush Benders?

Starting with my first class at Which-Craft we learned about Village Painters, a member of the national Society of Decorative Painters -- you must join, and I did. From Village we learned about other groups throughout the state: Great Lakes, Valley Tole and one that did not belong to SDP. You guessed it, Brush Benders. Prudy Hogrefe and Joan Mueller asked me to a meeting and that was over 20 years ago. I have served as Secretary (several times), Treasurer, Membership and President. The relaxed atmosphere and variety of projects is what keeps me renewing my membership.

Outside of Brush Benders my life has been filled with many things from PTA to P.E.O. I am a 32 year member of P.E.O., a philanthropic organization for women. I am currently serving as President. My husband, Bob, and I will celebrate our 52nd anniversary in June. We have two sons and daughter-in-laws plus five grandchildren ranging in age from 4 to 15. Recently I spend the morning guiding my seven year old grandson as he did a watercolor painting of a Rainbow Trout. What a great day.

I truly love doing watercolor because I find it to be simple and relaxing. Hopefully you will feel the same after you finish your watercolor/batik project May 22nd.

Paula Bullington, Secretary

Why Brush Benders?

I joined Brush Benders in 1986 after nudging from Marily Kur. I had been taking classes with her in her basement. Over the years I got to go up to Frankenmuth and take classes for the weekend. It was wonderful learning and spending the weekend relaxing. I have held many positions in Brush Benders and its a great way to get to know the ladies. I was lucky enough this past year to go to France with Kathie George and study watercolor painting. Janice and I will be going up to Mackinac Island for 3 days to take classes with Victoria M.Reynolds inside and plein air if the weather permits. My other passion is Photography and was lucky enough to travel to Italy with a group put together by Paul James, a Chelsea resident. I enjoy traveling and finding out that people from other countries are basically the same. We are all part of the Human Race. This is my story and I am sticking to it. Judy
