OVERVIEW OF ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Eureka College 26th President of a residential liberal arts college chartered in 1855 with a 30-member Board of Trustees, 700 students, and a $13M operating budget. Achievements include: • Financial Health of the Institution:

• Ten consecutive years of accrual balanced budgets and cash surpluses • Nearly doubling the College’s endowment from $12 million to $20 million • Growing total assets of the institution from $20 million to $52 million • College's U.S. DOE Composite Score has improved from .5 to 2.4

• Investments of $30M in Facilities Improvements and New Construction, including: • $4 M in athletic facilities • $3 M in renovations to dining facilities • $2M in information technology improvements/classroom upgrades • $10M in new residence hall construction and renovations • $7 M construction of Sanders Hall, addition to Vennum Binkley Science Hall

• Commitments to Faculty & Staff: • Provided employees with raises, promotion and equity adjustments of $1M • Through June 2014 the annual budget absorbed 100% of the increase for

health insurance costs (which more than doubled, totaling more than $500K) without changing plan benefits (BC/BS)

• Maintained consistent contribution levels for the employee retirement plan • Secured new funds for faculty/staff professional development • Supported the re-establishment of faculty sabbaticals

• Enrollment Management:

• Set seven consecutive records for enrollment growth—a 46% increase from 2005 to 2010, including a 18% improvement in student retention (2006),

• Maintained a consistent, cost competitive pricing position as peer institutions have continued to skyrocket tuition prices with low tuition discount (25-27%)

• New first year programs, including a support program for first generation students; and new weekend degree completion program for working adults

• Improved Fundraising and Institutional Advancement:

• Last year the largest amount of money was raised by the College ($7.3 million) in its 161-year history, including the largest gifts given in College history

• Increased the number of donors who support the college by 50% (4 years) • Increased the number of alumni donors by 32% and contributions to the

annual fund by 24% • Secured new funds to support study abroad • Initiated Reagan Forward programs to celebrate leadership and service of

Eureka’s most famous alumnus that included academic events such as visiting scholars, conferences, lectures, research resources, an annual giving society, and campus visits from distinguished award winners from Mikhail Gorbachev to Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

• CAMPUS STRATEGIC PLANNING— Chaired campus master plan involving $28M in campus facility improvements and SCT Banner implementation

• NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMS:

o Developed comprehensive first year program (FYP) that served to produce an 85% increase in the size of the freshmen class and an increase of ten percent in the first to second year student retention rate over a five year period—Fisher FYP was also recognized in 2002 as a semi-finalist for the Policy Center on the First Year of College in a national study to identify and describe through in-depth case studies a variety of “Institutions of Excellence in the First College Year” and a service-learning program that was recognized by the John Templeton Foundation as exemplary;

o Founded a new "School of Adult and Graduate Education," including a Weekend College format, for part-time returning adult students; and added 16 new academic programs (10 of which were graduate programs)

• ACCREDITATION & ASSESSMENT & QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS—Co-chair of Middle States Self-Study; Administrative Chair of Strategic Review Committee (CQI); and CAO for program accreditations in Business (AACSB), Chemistry (ACS), Education (NCATE), and Nursing (NLN, CCNE)

• FUNDRAISING—Established first Grants Office and worked with trustees to secure four grants for a total of $436,000
