A few words from the Board President...

In 1997, a group of community leaders convened to lay the foundation for the future of leadership in Sauk County. The result was the Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL). SCIL’s objective was, and is, to develop informed, skilled, and engaged civic leaders committed to making Sauk County a great place to live, work, and play. It’s safe to say that vision has become a reality. Since inception, approximately 350 participants have graduated from our 9-month program. Participants come from the private sector, as well as from the government, education, religious, and the non-profit worlds. They bring different life expe-riences, professional backgrounds, and perspectives about what causes are important.

Through their SCIL journey, they come away with a bet-ter understanding of the community in which we live, the challenges we face, and their role in finding solutions. Many graduates volunteer their time and their new-found under-standing of leadership to the enumerable worthy causes in our community. Others return to their previous occupations ready to help their organizations make a positive contribu-tion.

As a 501(c)3, none of this would be possible without support from the community we serve. This includes our business partners that provide us building space to hold our classes, speakers who take time from busy schedules, and the SCIL board members. Also, UW-Extension and Jenny Erickson, and Joann Douglas are individuals who contribute selflessly to ensure the program’s continuation. Truly, the extent to which SCIL has made a difference is a direct result of your efforts. Thank you.
