2016PARCC RESULTS:
Measuring College and Career Readiness
In 2015, New Jersey adopted the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) to replace HSPA and previous assessments in the elementary and middle school in language arts and mathematics.
Students took PARCC English Language Arts and Literacy Assessments (ELA/L) in grades 3 – 11.
Students took PARCC Mathematics Assessments in grades 3 – 8 and End of Course Assessments in Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.
PARCC uses FIVE performance levels that delineate
the knowledge, skills, and practices students are able
to demonstrate:

ELA NOTES▪ The percentage of students hitting a 4 or higher on
ELA PARCC this year was higher in 6 of 9 grade levels
▪ KHS had a higher percentage of students hitting a 4 or higher on ELA PARCC Grade 11 (47%), than both the state (39%), and the PARCC consortium (39%)
▪ KCS had a higher percentage of students hitting a 4 or higher on ELA PARCC Grade 5 (43%), than the PARCC consortium (42%)
▪ KCS had a higher percentage of students hitting a 4 or higher on ELA PARCC Grade 7 (53%), than the PARCC consortium (44%)

▪ The percentage of students hitting a 4 or higher on Math PARCC this year was higher in 5 of 9 grade levels
▪ KCS had a higher percentage of students hitting a 4 or higher on Math PARCC Algebra I (73%), than both the state (41%), and the PARCC consortium (33%)
▪ KCS had a higher percentage of students hitting a 4 or higher on Math PARCC Grade 5 (49%), than both the state (47%), and the PARCC consortium (38%)
▪ Among the PARCC consortium, only 23% of students taking the Algebra II test score a 4 or higher
▪ In NJ, 25% score a 4 or higher on Algebra II
▪ Among the PARCC consortium, only 27% of students taking the Geometry test score a 4 or higher
▪ In NJ, 27% score a 4 or higher on Geometry
