Mission One team ministries have been a blessing to our church. Last year 25 team members made a trip to minister to the children of Faith Home and the people of Honduras. In turn, our team was ministered to by the Honduran people. Our people grew in their relationship with the Lord and in love with the people of Honduras. We were humbled by the humility of the Honduran people and their ability to live with very little. The love and humility of each child on the campus of Faith Home made all of us proud to be a part of such a blessed ministry. We took 24 more people to Honduras in January 2016 to work on the transition house for those young people who have graduated and will be leaving Faith Home. It is a blessing to continue to minister and help these young people become productive citizens of their country.

STEAD FAMILY NEWSYou don’t have to drive very far into Juárez, Mexico to see that life there is hard. It is hard to stay warm in the winter and it is almost impossible to cool off in the summer. The average wage is $50 and $75 US dollars per week, if you can get a factory job. Most people have no hot water and they continue to have issues with the city water being potable. Yes, life in Juárez is hard, but loving the people of Juárez is one of the easiest things our family has ever had the pleasure of doing. When you’re in Juárez the people hug and kiss you, shake your hand and say “Díos le bendiga!” (God bless you!) They call you “hermano” (brother) and “amado” (loved one) and you wish with all of your heart that you could change lives. We bring the Gospel message which provides hope, joy, and comfort. Without that hope, this job would be heartbreaking and would make us feel helpless. And, we pray for them. You pray for mercy in the scorching heat in the summer and divine warmth in the freezing winters knowing that in the cinderblock homes, there is no heat for the most part. You pray for rain, although there are few crops to benefit. The land is desert and all that that entails, rattlesnakes, scorpions and black widows included. So — what do we do?

The one thing that is apparent is that these people need opportunities. They need a way to improve their lives to help them feed their families and break generations of poverty. Shortly after arriving, the people found out that we

and church to see what the Lord is doing here. It will be a wonderful experience that you’ll never forget! You’ll never be the same again. In 2015, we were able to reach the lost souls of India with the good news of Jesus Christ through charity. We are reporting:• 10 baptisms• 38 audio bibles given to illiterates• Lydia Sewing center for the destitute

had 109 graduates, and 62 of those gave their lives to Christ

• 150 bedsheets and blanket distributions

• Eight water buffaloes and 30 sheep provided for poor pastors

• Good Shepherd Children’s Home 16 kids are involved in this project. Seven of the 16 are HIV positive. All the children are receiving medical treatment, education, clothing, & food.

The major project for the 2016 year is the Church building Construction This building is for a church, Good Shepherd Children’s Home, Lydia Sewing center, missionary team housing, GBM Office, Bible training classes, and a place where Brittany and I will live in the future.

So far with your generous help and support we were able to put two levels of pillars and concrete slabs. Our goal is to finish the rest of the building by May 2016. Please consider extending your financial help toward finishing this building. We ask you to continue to pray for us and the ministry and evangelism in India. Through your prayers and support we may continue to be used by God to reach the unreached, plant churches and raise leaders in this land. May God Bless all of you in this New Year of 2016!

are the missionaries serving in the host culture, national workers, the national church, and even the cultural natives.A short-term missions trip is divided into three time segments. The segments are pre-field—the time before the trip, on-the-field—the time during the trip, and post-field—the time after the trip. In order to gain the maximum benefit from each trip, training and development for each group in each of the time segments is critical. Without training and development for each group the trip is in danger of becoming something to be checked off a “Bucket List.”GBIM has numerous resources available to assist with each trip gaining maximum benefit for everyone involved in the trip. In addition, I am available to come to churches and associations to assist with training and development. Dates in the following 2016 team schedule are subject to change.

home school. They immediately began asking us to teach them English. InJuárez English means better jobs, and better jobs mean better pay. Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) is a great avenue for developing relationships and meeting obvious needs. More importantly it spreads the Gospel to people who wouldn’t be caught in a church on their worst day, but will show up for English classes. We are currently teaching children’s classes. Studies show that attaining a second language is easiest before the age of 13, so we are excited to take these classes to young people. We hope to build a small library of simple readers in English to help build vocabulary. We currently have materials to begin study in the book of Matthew. We’d love to have the ability to give each one of our students a Bible with both English and Spanish. Having bilingual Bibles would contribute substantially toward learning the vocabulary. We currently have no budget for any of the materials we use and are severely limited in what we can do. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! The possibilities are endless in this city of over a million people, most of whom would give just about anything for an opportunity to better their lives. We hope to provide friendships and the knowledge of Jesus Christ as Savior to these beautiful people. Please consider coming down on a team to help here, supporting the ministry or our family personally so that we can continue doing this work. Thank you for sending us, for supporting us, and for anything you may be willing to do or invest to help the beautiful people of Juárez.

Jim PrattMission One Coordinator

Mission One Teams or Mission Volunteer Program (MVP) Teams as they were formerly called, have been an active part of General Baptist International Ministries (GBIM) since 1995 when Bob Brockett was hired as the first MVP Director. The success of the Mission One program is dependent on three different groups of people. The groups consist of “goers”, “senders” and “receivers.” The goers are simply those people actually traveling to the mission location. The senders are the ones who have committed their financial resources to the goer, they are the concerned family members (supportive and non-supportive) of the goer, the local church of which each goer is a part, those on their support teams, and the denomination or agency that is sponsoring the trip. WALLS APPOINTED AS MISSIONARIESWill Serve as Missionaries to Honduras

General Baptist International Ministries (GBIM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Rodney and Teresa Walls have been approved to serve with General Baptist International Ministries and have been appointed to Honduras for a four-year term. “We are very excited about the experience, gifts, and talents the Walls bring to this appointment,” stated GBIM Director Mark Powell. “But more than that, we are excited about the new and needed opportunities this couple offers our programs in Honduras.” “The Walls will be involved in two key components of General Baptist Ministry in Honduras,” according to Powell. “Rodney will work in church and leadership development and Teresa will start a health and nutrition program and coordinating health care ministries to churches and communities.” Dr. Walls received a Doctor of Ministry degree from Oakland City University in 2004, and Teresa received her LPN training at J. B. Johnson School of Nursing in Alton, Illinois. Both have strong ties to the Bethel General Baptist Church of Bethalto, Illinois, and the Illmo General Baptist Association of churches. The Walls previously served as missionaries to Honduras from 2008 to 2012 where they served as Directors of Faith Home. Rodney and Teresa are accepting invitations to speak to your church or small group or meeting with you privately and may be contacted at Rodney (812) 632-0323 or Teresa (812) 632-0324. You may also contact Mark Powell at the International Ministries office at (573) 785-7746.
