Coquimbo (La Serena), Chile • La Serena & Coquimbo Sights - COMPLIMENTARYAs you drive through downtown Coquimbo, you will pass the Plaza de Armas or main square. Continue on to La Herradura. During a brief stop at this seaside resort, your guide will tell you legends of pirates and corsairs. Proceeding along the coast, you will see the old lighthouse that has become the symbol of La Serena. Then, make your way down the lovely tree-lined Francisco de Aguirre Avenue. Step inside the Archaeological Museum, which houses the most complete collection of pre-colonial artifacts from this region. There is a splendid display of Diaguita pottery as well as an original Moai from Easter Island. A short walk from the museum brings you to the La Recova Market, where you will have some free time to browse among handicrafts, pottery, papaya products, semi-precious stones and alpaca wool handicrafts. Your next stop is at the La Serena University campus. Enjoy a small taste of La Serena as you snack on delicious local specialties. Take in the panoramic view of the city and Coquimbo Bay before returning to the pier.

Bridgetown, Barbados • Best of Barbados - COMPLIMENTARYStep aboard an air-conditioned coach for a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Barbadian countryside to Gun Hill Signal Station. This location provides a magnificent and captivating view of the island. Its historical use was to sight ships approaching Barbados and signal to warn of the approaching vessel. Built in 1818, the signal station was beautifully restored and landscaped by the Barbados National Trust and now houses a collection of military memorabilia. An officer at the signal station carved the statue of the lion on the hillside below out of a single piece of coral in 1868. Continue on to Orchid World, which sits on six acres of land, some 800 feet above sea level in the central parish of St George. A meandering path winds its way between beautiful outcrops of coral, rock gardens, cool shady gullies and ponds. Hummingbirds and the soothing sound of running water add to the natural beauty of the surroundings. The orchids themselves are quite spectacular, with thousands growing in shaded houses and outside on freestanding palisades. Many visitors are fascinated by the sight of orchid plants growing in mid-air with their roots completely free of any soil. Wonderful photo opportunities abound for the professional and amateur photographer. Next you’ll visit Sunbury House, which dates back to 1650. The original house was destroyed by fire in 1995, and was gracefully restored and reopened in 1996. It possesses one of the country’s superior collections of antiques. The cellars, originally used for storing yams and other root vegetables grown on the plantation, now house a unique collection of antique carriages – the largest collection in the Caribbean – as well as many items used in the domestic life of the plantation. It also houses a very old collection of optical machinery and eye-testing equipment, some of the first to reach the West Indies (including the first lens grinding plant). Here, you will learn how to make Bajan Rum Punch and a local delicacy – cod fish cakes. The demonstration will leave plenty of samples to share. In the extensively landscaped grounds, you’ll find more interesting examples of authentic antique carts and machinery – used in the last century to cultivate the land. The Sunbury Plantation House, located in the tranquil St Philip countryside, is a living monument to a bygone era. It has been carefully restored and lovingly cherished by its owners for the enjoyment of generations to come. Please note: Comfortable walking shoes recommended.

Salaverry (Trujillo), Peru • Cuzco & Machu Picchu Overland Adventure (GOLD Category)Operated in partnership with Holland America Line

Peru, the Kingdom of the Sun, captures a mix of native and European cultures. It is a country of antique cultures, where the traditional way of life is still evident, and of great scenic contrasts. It’s easy to accept that Peru is one of the greatest treasures of the Americas. Of 103 possible ecological zones on earth, 83 are represented in Peru. The Spanish conquistadors came here in search of gold, but they never found the most elusive prize – the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu.Day One: Thursday, January 14, 2016 (L,D) Leaving the ship in Salaverry, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Lima to connect with your flight to Cuzco. Meet your guide upon arrival, and transfer to your hotel. After check in, lunch will be served at the hotel. Start your panoramic tour of Cuzco with the Coricancha Temple of the Sun, built by the Inca Pachacutec (1438 – 1572). The Spaniards later built the Convent of Santo Domingo over the top of it. Admire the cathedral in the Plaza de Armas. Its construction began in 1560 and ended almost a hundred years later. Stones were extracted from the Sacsayhuaman Fortress under the command of the Ecclesiastical Council and used in the cathedral. Later, you will be transferred to a local restaurant for dinner. Ancestral music and folk dances complement the novo-Andine buffet. Overnight in Cuzco.Day Two: Friday, January 15, 2016 (B, L, D) The Gold Category option includes five-star hotel accommodations, as well as a memorable train ride on the Hiram Bingham railway to Machu Picchu. The timing of this very special adventure enables you to explore Machu Picchu during a less crowded time, for a more intimate and up-close look at this remarkable historic landmark. Your trip to Machu Picchu today begins with a bus ride from Cuzco followed by a train ride along the Urubamba River. Urubamba River is located in the Sacred Valley approximately 9,350 feet above sea level. The railway is an adventure in itself. You will enjoy brunch upon boarding the train, and relax for three hours. Warm hues, elegant upholstery, two dining cars and a bar make the Hiram Bingham train, named for the explorer who ‘discovered’ Machu Picchu almost a century ago – a pleasant experience indeed. From the train station, it is just a short walk to the bus loading area, and a 25-minute coach ride to Machu Picchu – the Lost City of the Incas – at an elevation of 7,874 feet. The bus ride is on unpaved roads, but the end reward is to immerse yourself in the timeless history and intangible magic of this strange and wondrous ancient citadel. Your guided tour is an awe-inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Upon arrival at the station near Machu Picchu, travel with your guide by coach up to the ruins. You’ll arrive just as many of the visitors are leaving for lunch, and you will have plenty of time to explore Machu Picchu in relative peace and quiet. This stone city was constructed by incredibly sophisticated techniques with huge blocks of stone fitted together perfectly – an example of precision that is elusive even with laser technology used in building today. After a guided visit to the ruins, you will enjoy an afternoon tea buffet at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, transferring back to Puente Ruinas to board the Hiram Bingham train. On the train ride back to Cuzco, relax over a cocktail; then, dinner will be served in the dining car. You will arrive back in Cuzco in the late evening after a day of dazzling sightseeing and wonderful memories. Overnight in Cuzco.Day Three: Saturday, January 16, 2016 (B) Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to the airport in time for a flight to Lima. Upon arrival in Lima, you’ll set out on a sightseeing drive through the historic center of Lima – also known as the City of the Kings and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Admire the Plaza Mayor before proceeding to San Francisco Church for a panoramic view from the outside. Built in 1674, this attractive yellow church is considered the best example of the Lima Baroque style. Return to the pier, where you will meet up with the ship. Snack will be provided. Please note: You must book this overland PRIOR to sailing. The cutoff date is 60 days prior to the call at Salaverry. Due to the popularity of this tour and strict booking conditions, cancellations inside of 60 days are nonrefundable. Guests with a heart condition and/or known respiratory difficulties should consult their physician prior to booking this tour. Minimum age is 12 years old. There are two paths at the ruins from which guests may choose; both are fully guided. One requires moderate walking and the other requires considerable walking. Buenos Aires, Argentina • Iguazu Falls Overland Adventure Operated in partnership with Holland America Line

Day One: Tuesday, February 9, 2015 (L,S,D) Your adventure begins with a guided panoramic tour of Buenos Aires by motorcoach before transferring to the airport in Buenos Aires, where you will board a flight to the awe-inspiring Puerto Iguazu and Iguazu Falls, located at the border of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. These falls are one of nature’s most impressive achievements – the locals call them Big Waters, but you’ll call them simply unforgettable as you explore both the Brazilian and Argentine sides of Iguazu National Park. Upon arrival, head directly to the Brazilian side of the falls for a guided walking tour. Lunch will be included inside the park. In the afternoon, you will check in at your hotel on the Argentine side of the falls. The hotel is located within the national park, with stunning views over the falls and a chance to relax by the pool and gardens. Enjoy dinner at your hotel – the Sheraton Iguazu – and an overnight stay in a Superior Falls View room.

Day Two: Wednesday, February 10, 2016 (B,L,S) After breakfast at the hotel, head out with your guide for a second guided walking tour of the falls. The guide will take you to some of the most impressive viewpoints on the Argentine side including the Upper and Lower Circuits as well as a ride on the ecological train to the “Garganta del Diablo” or Devil’s Throat. Here is where the horseshoe-shaped cascades drop millions of gallons of water per second over hard granite into a gorge 260 feet below. Return to the hotel for lunch. Afterwards, transfer to the local airport for the flight back to Buenos Aires to rejoin the ship. Please note: You must book this overland adventure PRIOR to sailing and it is available only to guests whose cruise does not end in Buenos Aires. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for guests with mobility limitations. Bring your reciprocity papers, passport, light rainwear and insect repellent. Be prepared for crowding at the site. Mist from the falls will settle on your clothing and make it damp, so bring extra clothes. Flight duration is two hours each way. Bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones for the flight, as the aircraft may be somewhat noisy. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour operates subject to meeting a minimum number of participants. Important: It is each guest’s sole responsibility to obtain (before traveling) any visas, vaccinations or tourist cards that are required for participating in mid-cruise adventures or overnight journeys, unless noted otherwise in the description. Manaus, Brazil • Amazon Ecopark: A Night in the Jungle Operated in partnership with Holland America Line

Day One: Sunday, February 28, 2016 (L,D) Take a panoramic drive through Manaus before a 40-minute boat transfer to the Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge. This facility began life as a scientific and educational property, created by private initiative in 1991. It opened its doors to the public as an ecotourism lodge in 1995. Although no longer a scientific property, this riverside resort provides a platform from which you can experience the beauty of the rain forest and learn about jungle life. Several streams of clear water run through the area and more than six miles of jungle trails, some with uncatalogued species, natural savannahs and creeks, enable you to explore the jungle and observe orchids and giant trees. The staff will make you feel at home in the heart of the Amazon jungle. The food consists mainly of local products prepared by the chef on location. Meats, fish and vegetables offer something for every taste. Plenty of tasty tropical fruits are served. After lunch, you will visit an Indian community. Return to the lodge for some free time before dinner. Tonight, you’ll embark on a canoe ride to search for small alligators. Alligators are spotted because their eyes shine like little red lights. Once the alligator is spotted by the guide’s spotlight, he will try to catch a small alligator with his hands and bring it on to the canoe, and a brief explanation of their habitat follows. Sometimes not all the canoes are lucky enough to land an alligator, but one of the alligators will be taken to the floating pier so everyone will have a chance to touch it and take photos. The alligator will be safely released back to the river afterwards, none the worse for wear.

Day Two: Monday, February 29, 2016 (B,L) After breakfast, learn more about jungle life and lore as you interact with your surroundings. A jungle recognition tour offers a brief introduction to jungle survival techniques and Amazonian flora and fauna. You will also visit the home of some localresidents and learn about the traditions of jungle life. Return to the lodge for lunch; then transfer back to Manaus by boat. Please note: Please be advised that accommodation is in a three-star lodge with simple, rustic rooms and amenities. Your guides will do their best to speak English, but please keep in mind that the limited tourism infrastructure of Manaus and the Amazon is part of the area’s charm, and please bear with any language difficulties the guide may encounter. Buses and other forms oftransportation may be somewhat basic in comparison with those offered in some other ports of call. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Due to seasonal rains, a varied amount of walking may be required. Bring insect repellent, shampoo, conditioner, a hat and light clothing. A flashlight may also be useful for the alligator tour. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Minimum age is 5 years.
