Day 2: Wednesday, April 18, 2018 Lima Discover Lima’s fascinating
history during a tour through the

Heritage site. Admire the artwork at
San Francisco Monastery and enter

Center, the elegant Cathedral at Plaza
de Armas, an abundance of colonial
architecture, and the fashionable
suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores
for insight into the daily life of the
Limeños. Then it’s on to your

Day 3: Thursday, April 19, 2018 Lima - Cuzco - Sacred Valley of the Incas Fly to Cuzco, in the heart of the Inca
civilization. Journey through the
Andes to the majestic Sacred Valley
of the Incas, the agricultural center of
their grand empire. Learn the
centuries-old methods of spinning,
dyeing and weaving traditional
textiles during a visit to Awana
Kancha, a living museum of the
Peruvian Andes. After a short lesson
on the local language, stop in Pisac
village to browse the colorful
handicraft market. Do as the locals do
and enjoy a tasting of “chicha,” a
unique regional drink made from
maize, at a local pub. Then, head to
the Pablo Seminario Ceramic
Studio where you’ll get first-hand
knowledge on this internationally
renowned artist's techniques and
designs, inspired by ancient Peruvian

Day 4: Friday, April 20, 2018 Sacred Valley of the Incas - Ollantaytambo- Sacred Valley of the Incas Experience
the lifestyle of the modern Andean
people and delve into their culture
when you travel to a nearby
community and interact with the
locals. You’ll get a true taste of their
daily life when participating in small
group workshops that teach you
traditional methods of growing,
harvesting and weaving. Celebrate
their culture as you learn their dances
and listen to their musical instruments.
This afternoon, visit the spectacular
Ollantaytambo archaeological site,
the only Incan settlement that has
been continually inhabited since its
inception. A uniquely terraced
complex topped with carved stone
panels, these ruins reflect ancient
Incan architecture and heritage. Then,
make a stop at the Sacred Valley
Brewing Company, a nonprofit
brewery created to support a local
orphanage. Taste these Andean-
inspired beers and learn about their
determination to support their
community. Tonight, savor an
authentic pachamanca dinner, a
unique process where food is placed
on hot stones and buried in the ground

Day 5: Saturday, April 21, 2018 Sacred Valley of the Incas - Machu Picchu Climb aboard the Machu
Picchu Vistadome train for
breathtaking views through domed
windows as you ride through the
Andes to the “Lost City of the Incas.”
Hidden by mountains and semi-
tropical jungle, Machu Picchu is
considered the most spectacular sight
in South America. Spend the
afternoon with your guide uncovering
the mysteries of these majestic ruins.
Tonight, stay at the base of Machu
Picchu for a chance to further soak up
its atmosphere. Enjoy an exclusive
culinary demonstration before

Day 6: Sunday, April 22, 2018 Machu Picchu - Cuzco With leisure time this
morning you may return to Machu
Picchu on your own or explore the
local markets. Return by Vistadome
train to the Sacred Valley and
continue to Cuzco, a city that blends
Inca and Spanish colonial influences.
Before arriving, make a stop at the
heralded salt mines of Maras. (B)
Day 7: Monday, April 23, 2018 Cuzco The morning is yours to relax and
acclimate to the altitude. Perhaps
you’ll choose the “Cuzco through the
Senses” optional tour, where you’ll
get hands-on experience with the
owner and artist of a local pottery
studio, followed by interactive tastings
of world-renowned Peruvian coffee
and chocolate. This afternoon, the
choice is yours on how you will
explore Cuzco, the former capital of
the Incan Empire. Perhaps you’ll
choose to join a local guide on a
walking tour of the city from your
hotel. Or, maybe you would prefer to
board your coach for a comprehensive
tour of the city’s main sites. Both
tours will take you on a journey
through this colonial city where you’ll
experience the architectural legacy
visible in the Cathedral, Santo
Domingo, the Plaza de Armas, as well
as a stop by the central market. Later,
gather together and travel above the
city to discover the important sacred
Incan ruins of Sacsayhuaman
Fortress. Enjoy a toast at sunset while
overlooking the city before arriving at
your authentic dinner and folklore

Day 8: Tuesday, April 24, 2018 Cuzco - Quito, Ecuador This morning we fly
to Quito, Ecuador, a UNESCO

Day 9: Wednesday, April 25, 2018 Quito At the start of your city tour,
enjoy a special visit to a Children
International community center,
supported by the Collette
Foundation.* Meet some of the
children benefiting from the
nutritional support and healthy
cooking education that is the focus of
this group’s mission. Learn about
Quito’s colonial center on a tour
featuring the Presidential Palace and
17th-century Church of La Compañía.
Savor lunch overlooking the
Pululahua volcanic crater. On a one-
of-a-kind experience, cross between
hemispheres at the Equatorial Line
Monument and Museum at the
“Middle of the World.” Spend the

Day 10: Thursday, April 26, 2018 Quito - San Cristóbal Island, Galapagos - Embark Ship Fly to
beautiful San Cristóbal Island,
gateway to your Galapagos eco-
adventure. After enjoying lunch
aboard the m/v Galapagos Legend,
arrive at the Port Baquerizo Moreno
for an up-close look at the endangered
tortoises that call the San Cristóbal
Cerro Colorado Tortoise Reserve
home. After exploring the island,
stargaze from the deck of your ship
and toast the wonders of the
Galapagos with tropical cocktails. (B,

Day 11: Friday, April 27, 2018 Española Island (Gardner Bay and Suarez Point) Board your panga to
visit Gardner Bay. Guarded by a
colony of sea lions, the beach is home
to Galapagos hawks and endemic
finches. Swim and snorkel with the
marine life, including manta rays and
white-tipped sharks. Continue on and
meander through the volcanic terrain
of Suarez Point. During your nature
walk, watch for hooded mocking
birds, lava lizards, Sally Lightfoot
crabs and blue-footed boobies.
Venture to count Waved Albatross at
the world’s largest colony. Finally,
visit the spectacular Soplador
(blowhole) where water shoots 75 feet

Day 12: Saturday, April 28, 2018 Floreana Island (Post Office Bay and Cormorant Point) Land at storied
Post Office Bay, named for a barrel
left in 1793 by Captain James Colnett
as a “post office” for passing sailors.
Continue the tradition and leave a
letter for a loved one. Snorkel, if you
choose, with green sea turtles or set
out to search for Darwin’s finches and
yellow warblers. Sail to Cormorant
Point and its olivine green sand beach.
Try to spot stingrays and reef sharks
in the emerald waters. Learn about the
ecosystem’s unusual plants. You may
also observe graceful flamingos or
spot a small colony of penguins. Seize
another chance to snorkel and swim

Day 13: Sunday, April 29, 2018 Santa Cruz Island (Charles Darwin Research Station & Highlands) Visit the
famous Charles Darwin Research
Station and see the giant tortoises
from the station’s breeding program.
Trek through the Santa Cruz highlands
to Cerro Chato and find more giant
tortoises. Take a break to savor some
organic Galapagos coffee before we
embark on a walk inside dormant
lava tubes to gain insight on how
these pristine islands formed. Enjoy
time to explore Port Ayora town. (B,

Day 14: Monday, April 30, 2018 Daphne Island - Disembark Ship - Baltra Island - Quito Garner
panoramic views as you
circumnavigate Daphne Island. Keep
an eye out for marine iguanas, fur
seals and crabs teetering along the
rocky shore. Bid farewell to the
Galapagos and fly back to the
magnificent city of Quito. This
evening, fall in love with the lights of
colonial Quito during a nighttime
panoramic tour en route to your
farewell dinner. Arrive at one of the
city’s most historic restaurants to
sample some of Ecuador’s finest

Experience It! with Local Naturalists
The Galapagos Islands offer a dramatic geological history and one of the world’s most
remarkable collections of plant and animal life. During your voyage, local naturalists
provide insight into the wildlife and history during onboard lectures and guided nature
walks. Learn about the Galapagos sea birds, including the blue-footed booby and the
Galapagos penguin, and why they are considered some of the most unusual birds in the
tropics. Explore the mysteries of the islands’ amazing marine animals, including why
whales dive so deep and how dolphins are able to communicate so effectively. Hear
stories about Charles Darwin’s acclaimed voyage and some of the settlers who once
called the Galapagos home.
Please Note: Smaller buses, which may not be lavatory equipped, may be used on this program. In this case, frequent stops are made during travel periods.
In general, hotels in Peru (outside of Lima) are small with one or two levels and do not have elevators which may require you to climb 10-15 steps to get to/from the room.
Each client is responsible for proper documentation and inoculations that may be required and/or recommended to participate on this tour. Please
contact your local travel clinic or personal physician for specific details on the destinations you are traveling to and from.
The days and order of sightseeing may change to best utilize your time on tour. The itinerary is subject to change due to weather conditions or National Park directives. The captain may deviate from the published itinerary for any reason he deems advisable. The normal daily schedule when on board the ship consists of a shore excursion immediately following breakfast, return aboard for lunch, and an afternoon
shore excursion. Transfers to/from the boat are by small boats called "pangas," Landings are either "dry" or "wet" and you might have to wade ashore in shallow water. At all times you are accompanied by your naturalist guide. Shore excursions normally last 2 - 2.5 hours each. In some cases, the terrain can be a little strenuous. Passengers should consult their physician should they have any concerns regarding their physical condition. Children must be 7 years or older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children must be younger than 12 for child reduction to apply. Child rate only applies if sharing cabin with 2 adults. Highest elevation: Cuzco, Peru at approximately 11,200 feet.

To complete your tour, we include roundtrip airport-to-hotel transfers when purchasing our airfare with your tour. If you have arranged for your own air, we are pleased to provide you the option of purchasing these transfers. Please note that all transfers will leave at prescheduled times.

Onboard gratuities are not included in the price of your tour. Suggested tipping on board cruise: 15 USD per person, per day, for the on-board crew and 10 USD per person, per day, for the naturalist guides.
Single accommodations are limited and will be confirmed upon request and availability from the cruise line. Triple accommodations are not available.

The cabins available are Standard Plus Outside cabins, located on the Sea Deck. Upgrades may be available to Junior Suites (Earth Deck) or Balcony Suites (Moon Deck). We will make every effort to accommodate your cabin category preference at the time of booking. If the cabin category preferred is not available at the time of booking, the next closest category available will be offered and a surcharge may apply.
We pride ourselves on bringing travelers the very best experiences a destination offers. To truly experience the program and destination, you need to be able to participate in physical activities such as walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs and periods of standing. Some of the touring days may be longer, and some of the most unique sightseeing can mean accessing locations that restrict motorcoaches, especially in historic areas. In addition, temperatures on this tour can be very high, so bring adequate sun protection.
Complete passport information is required 60 days prior to departure to confirm flight arrangements to the Galapagos Islands.
Please be advised many airlines do not provide advance seat assignments until check-in at the airport. Advance seating will be subject to the airline's terms and conditions.

The internal flights on this program in Peru and Ecuador are not included in the land price and must be purchased with the air portion of your tour. Internal flights that are purchased will be ticketed and distributed on tour by your Tour Manager. For passengers wishing only to purchase inter air from us, own air must be arranged into Lima and out of Quito. Required inter flights include four segments: Lima-Cuzco, Cuzco-Quito, Quito-San Cristóbal Island, Baltra Island-Quito.
Economy air rate and schedule are applicable for groups of 10 or more traveling on the same flights and dates.
A deposit of $750 per person is due upon reservation. If you purchase our Travel Protection Plan, the deposit is only $500 per person plus the cost of the Insurance. A second deposit of $2,590 per person is due September 11, 2017. Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis. Reservations made after the deposit due date of September 11, 2017 are based upon availability. Final payment due by December 18, 2017. Deposits are refundable up until September 18, 2017.

Take in the panoramic views of the Andean moorlands on the way to Ecuador’s “land of lakes.” Make a stop at the Andean Instruments Museum in Peguche village. Continue on to meet local residents at lunch and enjoy indigenous music and dance. Then it’s off to Otavalo, home of beautifully colored fabrics and a famous indigenous market. Try your hand at bargaining with the locals before heading to your hotel, the 300-year old historic Hacienda Pinsaqui, where the revolutionary Simon Bolivar once stayed. Learn how to make the Ecuadorian spiced drink canelazo and have the opportunity to sample this delicious beverage along with a tasty empanada. Tonight, savor a typical dinner in the charming hacienda restaurant. Today lunch and dinner will be included. Day 16: Otavalo- Andes Mountain Train- Salinas- San Antonio de Ibarra- Otavalo Today, travel to the region of Imbabura, known for towering volcanoes. Take an unforgettable train ride on the Andes Mountain Train past towering volcanoes and through spectacular Andes scenery that includes fertile valleys of fruit and sugar plantations. Arrive in Salinas and gather for lunch featuring regional specialties and Afro-Ecuadorian music and dance. Then, drive to San Antonio de Ibarra, a picturesque town famous for elaborate wood carvings and sculptures. Later, learn how to make helados de paila (fruit sorbet) prepared in great copper pans before sampling the treat for yourself. This evening, arrive back at your historic Andean hacienda. Or, you may choose a home-cooked dinner and homestay* in the Karanki indigenous community of La Magdalena on the slopes of Cubilche volcano. The Karanki welcome visitors into charming guest houses so travelers can learn about their culture. Today breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included. Day 17: Otavalo - La Magdalena - Quito Witness the extraordinary community tourism project at La Magdalena and discover how the Collette Foundation is helping to support its residents. Experience the shepherding and harvesting activities, taste the homemade cheeses and breads, and learn about their medicinal herbal teas. You will be amazed by the talented artisans who make beautiful tablecloths, breadbaskets and many other textiles. Next, venture to Condor Park, a rescue center for a variety of birds of prey, to learn about the protection of these birds. Marvel at their falconry techniques during a live demonstration. Enjoy a mystical experience that introduces you to the sacred beliefs and rituals of the
ancient Peruvians, allowing to you further connect with the energy that attracts so
many to Peru and Machu Picchu. Shamanism is the exploration and discovery of non-
material worlds and states of mind—a way of connecting with the non-physical world
which involves emotional and spiritual healing. Did you know that Ancient Peruvian
beliefs hold that the Mother Earth – Pachamama – is sacred? Practices of giving
offerings to Pachamama are still part of daily life for many Peruvians, traditions which
were passed down from Incan beliefs. The coca plant, a sacred symbol of community,
spirit and respect, also plays an important role in ceremonies that are still performed
today as coca leaves are believed to read the future. This enlightening experience

adventure that is sure to dazzle your senses. Begin by discovering the pottery
techniques inspired by Andean and Colonial period artwork at a local pottery studio.
Roll up your sleeves and try your hand at molding or painting your own piece of art to
take with you. Continue on to Café del Museo where you’ll meet an expert who will
share with you the intricacies of Peruvian coffee. Savor the unique aromas and flavors
of the various blends and roasts popular in Peru’s coffee culture. Finally, it’s off to the
Choco Museo to learn the secrets of Peru’s world-famous chocolate. See how cacao is
harvested and learn the process all the way to creating a chocolate bar. Your expert
guide will share with you the history of the first hot chocolate, and why Peru, along
with its neighbor Ecuador, is said to have the purest form of chocolate in the world.

one of the most important UNESCO sites in the Americas. Your tour starts in the
modern part of the city, where you’ll visit the Central Bank Museum. Learn about the
first inhabitants of what is now Ecuador and admire contemporary paintings and
modern art. Then head to the Old Town to view the eclectic architecture of Spanish
yesteryear. Admire the facades on the churches and private residences, the balconies

A deposit of $750 per person is due upon reservation. If you purchase our Travel Protection Plan, the deposit is only $500 per person plus the cost of the Insurance.
