CLASSES

Irish Aran CrewGraduates of our first two Irish Aran classes, the scarf and the hat, are ready to begin their first Aran sweater project, a crew neck pullover. This unisex sweater is done in the Carroll family pattern. Debbie has trav-eled extensively to Ireland and will teach you the precise ways that all the details are managed as she learned from her Irish knitting mentor, Rosaleen Hegarty.

Noro Corded VestKate loves to help people be suc-cessful with their first real sweater project. She is always on the lookout for suitable designs and loves to help her students with the finishing details that make all the difference. This vest design worked in Noro Silk Garden meets her high standards. It caught her eye because of the sophisticated touches like the corded edgings and button loops.

EnterNorah Gaughan’s Enter pullover is fun to knit and fun to wear. This T-shaped garment has just two pieces, the front and the back. A simple yarn over, knit two together lace worked on the diagonal gives the garment shape and drape. It can be worked in wool rich yarns such as Berro-co’s tweedy new yarn, Colora. Or choose a summery yarn, such as Berroco’s Fuji. This design is much easier to knit that it would appear. The basic lace pattern is very easy to memorize. This design is surprising forgiving of slight varia-tions in gauge. If you are in between sizes, it is also easy to create a size for you that’s between the pattern sizes.

Knitting for BeginnersLearn to knit by making swatches of basic stitches. Emphasis is placed on learning to “read” your stitches so that you can become a confident knitter. Class also includes a taste of lace and cables.

Knit Beginner ProjectThis hat and scarf combination gives beginners opportunity to practice and polish their basic skills. You'll learn to use circular and double pointed needles while making the hat. The hat will also be your introduction to multi gauge patterns, which allow you to make the same design in many different kinds of yarn. The scarf combines the cables and other stitches you learned in Knitting for Beginners so that you can keep learning to read your stitches and have something beautiful to wear.

Crochet for BeginnersBegin your crochet future with a set of 3 classes designed to get you comfortable with the basic crochet stitches. You will begin with the classic granny square and a scarf. Basic finishing skills for crochet fabrics will also be included.

Crochet Beginner ProjectPractice the stitches you learned in Crochet for Beginners while making a hat and scarf. We’ll work on basic pattern reading skills while working through 2 well written, beginner friendly patterns from Churchmouse.
