2016 ANNUAL REPORT

We continue to Inspire Generations of Canadians. Locally, our London Museum School participants enjoy, and even star in short drama presentations of our 119 Laureates. Nationally and internationally, we rely on our electronic footprint to share these stories; more than 157,000 website page views and 40,000 views on our YouTube channel this year are important foundations upon which we will continue to build. The positive impact of bringing our CMHF Medical Student Award recipients and the 2016 Inductees together is another terrific example of acting on this strategic priority.
This year we made the original sketches of our Laureate portraits available for display at affiliated medical schools across Canada. Bringing Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Laureate Exhibits closer to emerging medical and health care workers, leaders and the public helps us to Grow our Reputation while inspiring generations.
Working with the creative input of some of our volunteers from Western University, we developed an entertaining and educational program to Increase Exhibit Hall Activity with half and full day field trips for grade seven and eight students. We look forward to rolling out these Superheroes of Health Care events in 2017.
As with all small charities, fundraising is a frequent focus in our efforts to Secure the Future. Strategic partnerships with corporate and institutional supporters (highlighted throughout this report), stewardship of our generous individual donors and diversifying our funding base enable us to fulfill our mission of recognizing and celebrating Canadian heroes whose work has advanced health and inspires the pursuit of careers in the health sciences. We are ever appreciative of the gifts of time, talent and treasure of our ardent supporters.

Connecting Generations.THE CANADIAN MEDICAL HALL OF FAME AWARD
FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS
CMHF Laureates cite qualities such as perseverance, collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit as contributors to their success as national and world health leaders.
Deans of the faculties of medicine/health sciences at each of Canada’s 17 medical schools identified a second year student who demonstrates these qualities.
April 14, 2016, Hamilton ON: Inspiring young leaders from across Canada – the inaugural recipients of the CMHF Award for Medical Students – meet 2016 Laureates of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.
We celebrate the achievements of the giants of health care in Canada to fuel our pride, but also to inspire the next generation of health leaders:
• to call out the leaders among them
• facilitate collaboration and mentorship so that they may also achieve significant impact in their own careers
• challenge them to “think like a Laureate”
• promote networking opportunities for shared support to foster a growing community of Canadian talent committed to improved care and health outcomes

tions Being a CMHF award winner has benefited me in my ability to focus on medicine, research and community this past year. My most treasured part of being awarded the CMHF award was the honour of attending the 2016 Induction Ceremony, and personally meeting and speaking with CMHF Laureates past and present. I am a proud science geek, and so for me it was like attending the Academy Awards!
~ ANNICK GAUTHIER, MCGILL UNIVERSITY
I believe the CMHF has created a community, whether intentionally or unintentionally, when they created this award. A community of budding leaders, and innovators, who one day, collectively, may effect wide sweeping changes in Canadian healthcare.

More than 1,900 visitors from 21 cities across Canada and 18 cities from 11 other countries explored our Exhibit Hall.
More than 175 grade 7 and 8 students from six classes at Chippewa, Jean Sauvé, West Oaks French Immersion, St. Robert and Stoney Creek spent a week in our Exhibit Hall in an interactive environment that touches on all aspects of school curriculum. They learned about the Laureates and Canada’s rich medical history, visited Banting House, conducted science experiments and heard from several community health presenters, all the while imagining and writing about their own health discovery.
Introducing Super Heroes of Healthcare. Half day and full day field trips for grades 7 and 8 at the CMHF Exhibit Hall in London.
