Required Textbook:Jay Heizer and Barry Render, Principles of Operations Management, 9th
Edition, Pearson Prentice Hall, 2013.
Prerequisite: ECON 3551 and MGMT 3100.

All deadlines are STRICTLY enforced.
Learning Outcome Understand and apply concepts and applications of quantitative and qualitative models in
Operations Management.
Develop essential skills of modeling, managing and optimizing operations decisions in
manufacturing and service organizations.
Utilize a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods and tools used in managing and
improving operations decisions.

Attendance: Roll will be taken at every class. It will be considered as missing class if someone is not
present when the roll is taken.
One is allowed to miss one class without penalty.
In-Class Quizzes: All quizzes are closed book.
The lowest score of all quizzes will be dropped.
No makeup quizzes.
Online MC Quizzes: There will be mandatory online quiz for each chapter that will be covered this quarter. All the
questions are multiple choice questions.
One attempt only. The homework is not timed and there are no makeups.
Midterm and Final Exams: Zero tolerance for cheating of any kind in exams.
Cellphone or any other communication device is not allowed during exams. Each student
must prepare his/her own calculator.
If a student is 30 minutes or more late for exams, s/he will not be allowed to take exams. It
will be considered as missing exams.
A student cannot turn in his or her exam in the first 30 minutes of the exam.
Class Announcements: All announcements will be made in class or posted on the blackboard. It is the responsibility
of a student to ensure that s/he gets informed about the announcements made in the classes.

I will post the announcements on the blackboard if the instructor needs to communicate
anything to students. Please check the blackboard announcements frequently.
Remarks The instructor reserves the right to interpret the policies in this syllabus.
While every effort will be made to abide by the rules and policies stipulated in this syllabus,
change may sometimes be necessary. If and when this happens, due care will be taken to
given as much notice to the students as possible.
The instructor will NOT respond to any request for makeup homework or negotiate
with any student about his or her grade.
