trumpeter with most of the major British

orchestras and was Associate Principal Trumpet of the BBC

In addition to professional work, he has played principal

cornet with outstanding brass bands, notably the Desford

Colliery Dowty Band, Britannia Building Society Band,

Williams Fairey Band, Yorkshire Building Society Band and

the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

After leaving the RNCM as a student, he became a Junior

Fellow in teaching and taught trumpet and cornet for eight

years. He has also been a guest lecturer for the Royal

College of Music, London, the Royal Scottish Academy of

Music and Drama, Glasgow and the Grieg Academy, Bergen,

as well as external examiner at the Birmingham

Conservatoire. Other adjudicating duties have included

National and European Brass and Wind Band

Championships.

Martin plays lead trumpet with Bergen Big Band, one of the

Tale” won multiple awards, one of which received over 12,000

votes. He is a Yamaha artist, and as a soloist, he has given

eighteen premieres and performed in USA, Asia and Europe.
