FESTIVALS AND SPECIAL EVENTSWith more than 130 special events on tap each year,

Norfolk is home to great festivals, outdoor concerts

and holiday celebrations. From Harborfest® and the

Virginia Arts Festival to Holidays in the City and the

bi-annual Virginia Wine Festival, it’s four seasons of

fun in Norfolk.

DINING AND NIGHTLIFELooking for a night out? When the sun goes down,

Norfolk comes alive. The city offers extraordinary

culinary experiences from local favorites to

affordable fine dining at one of many chef-owned

restaurants. Sample wines at the Mermaid Winery,

Virginia’s first urban winery, or head over to one of

our local breweries. Don’t forget Norfolk’s growing

coffeehouse scene; you might even catch an open

mic night! Whether meeting up with friends on

Granby Street, strolling down Colley Avenue in

Ghent, or watching the sunset in Ocean View,

Norfolk’s many neighborhoods offer a variety of

cafés, clubs and pubs to enjoy!

ATTRACTIONSTake a tour of the Elizabeth River harbor on a

majestic tall ship, watch world-renowned artists

blow glass at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio,

stroll through 155 acres of azaleas, roses and

camellias at Norfolk Botanical Garden or relax at

the beach. If history is your thing, sign up for a boat

or land tour of the world’s largest Naval Base, stop

by the MacArthur Memorial, walk the Cannonball

Trail, explore the Hampton Roads Naval Museum or

discover the power of the sea at Nauticus or aboard

the Battleship Wisconsin.

SPORTS AND RECREATIONGo fishing, kayak, learn how to sail, bike along

the Elizabeth River, or take a few swings at one of

Norfolk’s two golf courses. Enjoy great professional

sports during your visit. Take in exciting AAA

baseball action with the Norfolk Tides at downtown’s

Harbor Park, or an AHL hockey game with the

Norfolk Admirals at the Norfolk Scope Arena.

rail. The Tide light rail route extends 7.4 miles

from Eastern Virginia Medical Center east through

downtown Norfolk, adjacent to I-264 to Newtown

Road. Eighteen bus routes offer direct connection

to six of the 11 Tide stations.
